Any helpful hints would help…

So I have been out for about a year now. My old computer just could not handle this game anymore and I finally got my new pc last Friday.
Specs: gtx 770, 16 gb corsair plat, msi gd 65 78 moba etc.

So when I last left off, I am the leader of my own guild in Isle of Janthir and I guess I was saving for my precursor and tier 6 mats. I guess I forgot most everything about this game. So could you guys help me out a bit about how to get back into this game. I do not know much about whats new in PVP, ascended gear, whats good whats a good farming place. I guess my normal farming method was COF and I made about 15 gold every 30 mins on my acccounts but other than that I do not really know what I can do to get back in? Should I transfer to a different fuller server and rebuild my guild or what can i do to get more into this> IS there still living stories? Newer items I can do? New recipes. IDK if anyone can offer a couple things that would be great, I am open to everything….

1. Dungeon farming no longer works.
2. Ascended equipment is slightly better than exotics and give a longer term goal than exotics.
3. Frostgorge Champion farm is good, but requires a larger server.
4. Don’t transfer, with megaserver changes coming tomorrow you’ll almost always have a lot of people.

Perfect time to get back. everything changes tomorrow. So we all will be noobs again. especially with builds.

This isn’t entirely wrong. There will be differences in the world because of the current events, but the overall game really hasn’t changed in a year. You’re coming back at a good time due to the new patch coming out though. Lots of new quality-of-life goodies being added.

I do think they need to stick one of their living world teams permanently on releasing a fully loaded new zone every six months. And with the way the game works right now they really need a small level cap boost scheduled once per year (2-5 levels imho). That would go a long way toward giving the game legs…

What difference does adding levels make? That would be completely arbitrary and kitten off the majority of the community. I really never understood that mentality. “I’m at level cap and I feel like there’s nothing to do. They should raise the level cap!” So what, so when you hit the next level cap you can say the exact same thing? Level cap is level cap. Adding content is what needs to happen, not making it so your magical level number goes up. That accomplishes nothing.

Also, that would just open the door to level 81-85 armor. If that ever happened I guess Anet should just close the GW2 forums because it would be nothing but “I’m quitting” posts.

Ways to make Gold.

1. Doing multiple dungeon paths once a day. example: COF p1, AC 1 2 3, HoW p1, etc

2. *Frostgorge Champ train – is getting nerfed, will find out by how much tomorrow.

3. T6 mat farming – just kill mobs that drop t6 mats in frostgorge, southsun, and cursed shore. This may surpass the champ train depending on the extent of the coin nerf. especially since we can have high MF while wearing zerk gear now.

4. TP flipping

5. World bosses – Being nerfed for the most part, only 4 an hour No idea how temples will work under with the megaserver system though.

Things to do.

1. Salvage every green/blue you come across to raise your luck, and get magic find.

2. make sure to do daily and monthly for laurels

3.purchase an ascended amulet with a utility slot as soon as you have enough laurels, and get a magical infusion to go with it when you are able.

4. If you’re interested in ascended gear, raise your crafting to 450 asap so you can make daily materials

5. WvW and Edge of Mist

6. Map completion for…..stuff.

7. Check the new world boss event schedule tomorrow, attend, get rares, have fun, et8. Oh yeah, be sure to get into a nice size guild you can do Guild missions with.

Also be sure to read tomorrows patch notes, there will be a lot of changes.

With all the big changes coming tomorrow, there are many things you should do tonight in order to take advantage of the bonuses.

First, if you’ve been hoarding dyes, make a decision on whether you’re going to sell them or use them. If you have cheap ones identified, use them on one of your characters; all of your characters get access to it tomorrow, and if it duplicates a dye on another character, you get a free unidentified one to compensate. More expensive ones that you have duplicates already applied of, you’ll probably want to sell on TP. Unidentified ones, choose whether to use or keep them. After tomorrow, duplicates will NOT be compensated.

Why keep? For GIft of Color, for one of the legendary weapons. It will soon cost only 100 unid dyes.

Check out your PvP locker, even if you’ve never played it. If their are duplicate skins of weapons and armor there to what you already have on your characters (or can cheaply get), salvage them and use the pieces in the PvP Mystic Forge to open other skins. Also, spend your Glory.
