Q:
How Retaliation works
A:
Heart of the Mists is the pvp world.
Spvp and PVE numbers are totally separted for balance purposes. You’re much weaker and linear in spvp

So heart of the mists doesn’t count as spvp?
Also was this an undocumented change?
Yeah i have to say that I like that they separated the PVE PVP WVW numbers going forward. Now if only they would go back and fix the three broken classes numbers in PVE engi, ranger, necro everything would be golden.
BUMP!
How much damage is being reduced with retaliation? I’m pretty sure it’s not 100% damage reduction ’cause I can be HB to downed state to death even if I have this boon.

Retaliation does not prevent or reflect damage, it just punishes someone for attacking you, by dealing an amount of damage based on your power (I think) back to them. You still take the hit.

uhm…
Retaliation – Reflect incoming damage back to its source; stacks duration.

It’s a very misleading tooltip. Detritus is correct: retaliation doesn’t prevent any damage anywhere, it just hurts people hurting you. Spiteful little boon.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
Q: How Retaliation works?
A: Badly.
The higher your power, the more damage it does to people hitting you. But you still receive the damage. And its not like you reflect the actual damage done to you back to it’s source. So you could take a 16k hit of damage, but Retaliation is still only going to deal a fixed amount of damage to the attacker based on your power, and regardless of damage taken.
If they changed this, it might actually be a good counter against spike damage.

Retaliation should be changed to:
1. Work off Toughness, not Power.
2. Work as a percentage, not flat.
If these changes were implemented, then it’d actually do what it was supposed to do. And maybe, just maybe, condition builds would become effective.
