It isn’t really an exploit because it happens whether thieves want it to or not, but they can become permanently invisible because of a culling issue which makes their model load slower when leaving stealth. So they can drop out of stealth, attack, and re-enter stealth without their model ever rendering on the map.

I see the teleport bots in SouthSun Cove every day. And so, I kinda know which are bots and which are not.
What I do is, click them while they are attacking and invite to my group. That’ll get their little avatar to be “stuck” in my screen. If they teleport away I know they are a bot. If they actually join my group – awesome! Better loot and fun for both of us.
(With their avatar on my screen while my group invite is out, I can right-click that and report as a bot even after they’ve teleported away.)

It is up to Anet to police this not us. They arent doing a good job and I have myself given up. The economy is a mess because of this and open world loot is 0 so I stopped reporting hoping they keep prices down now since I cant get a rare to drop in a plinx run.

Remember GM’s? I work for a living, I don’t want to work when I play a game. I see bots tele to nodes I’m mining constantly. I don’t report them, becuase I’m playing, not working, but I HATE the idea that I might be buying mats from a bot.
I aggree with you Nark. They have teams for every other aspect of the game. Set up some GM’s for pete’s sake. Sit at a node for an hour and catch them yourselves. Get paid to do it, and stuff.

To my knowledge, bots purposely abuse report features to spam up and clutter GM inboxes. By removing means of direct contact, they are able to counter that spam-strategy bots use against GMs.
One day recently in Vigil Keep, I saw a flame elemental with a player name and a red Anet icon next to their name. They were just sitting there, flapping their wings over some magic snow. I shoulda got a screen but I didn’t.
Was that a GM? And if not, wth was it?
The underwater bots have been in Southsun for WEEKS. Actually, there are more and more. I have reported some that are still there almost a month later. I am not sure what the point is of reporting them because they should be detectable because of their in-game behavior, or at the least they should be investigated once reported…within a reasonable amount of time. Given those facts, one should not be seeing the same bots week after week after reporting them. I read strong words about the gaming company combating these bots, I hope their actions catch up with their words.
I won’t report diddly. The way I look at it the bots have two benefits. First as stock options as Firegoth so eloquently stated and secondly the more there are in southsun cove the faster I can get to the big Ori node because they clear the path.

Most likely just someone using a Black Lion chest skin-change potion. Totally harmless.
