How you feel about Big Target’s targeting mechanics in the game?

Like when you trying to target a large creature that may have multiple attack points.

How do you like it?

For me I been having issues targeting these locations on large monsters especially when I am locked to a Melee weapon build.
Because the melee range is so close that the game wont even show damage numbers if I am actually hitting the spot. So none of my melee swings feel like they are connecting.

Feel pretty forced to bring ranged weapons, because you never know when a boss will spawn like this that has this “Big Boss Tag Targeting” mechanic.

I dont like force. I like freedom. Seem like it was a good idea on paper, but badly done.

Need more indications that we are actually hitting the target spots, and maybe some better visual highlight for target spot locations so the more melee oriented players can still see where to aim short range attacks, and ground targeting attacks, especially when the “Big Boss Tag Targeting” spots moved around.

Again share your thoughts. if you agree or disagree. please explain why for sake of any discussion.

The targeting is horrible … tab sometimes doesn’t work. I have to take a few steps back sometimes to know where to click to target …. it’s not a smooth experience.

Case in point, wurm is a total kitten to target …

i agree that it needs better targeting for melee.

perhaps the damage numbers can show up in front of our characters …

it’s horrible

trying to hit the behemoth in melee, i don’t know where to stand to hit it, it’s just a case of stand somewhere and swing my axe around and hope for the best

projectile attacks are ok

ground target attacks are the same problem as melee, i just don’t know where to put them

Not really big but the Queen Wasp in Queensdale. I still don’t know where I double click to attack her, I always have to use auto because clicking anywhere on or around her does nothing.

Target Behemoth, get in close to where the target zone is, use attack that has movement, which hits the target and puts you in the proper range. Stand there and auto attack until it dies.

Sometimes you can see a red targetting ring moving on the ground under the Wasp Queen, aim for that?
I say sometimes, since I have red/green colourblindness, these circles don’t always show up well enough to react to them (ditto aoe attack circles when I need to dodge!)

I like Targetting just the way it is and I find it well designed.

We don’t want to have Big Target’s targeting like FF14 in guild wars 2.
