How can SPvP become more fun for others?
To me, they’ll never be fun enough for me to enjoy playing it. PvP isn’t my cup of tea. Never has been, never will. I tolerate WvW for map exploration because I can to some degree avoid all PvP.
Unless winning X number of matches gave you a precursor box that you could choose your precursor from, I wouldn’t ever play it. And even then, I’d only tolerate it and feel it’s a grind.

I’ve tried sPvP. The matches are actually quite fun. They’re fast paced, and relatively exciting.
The problems I had, and the biggest reason I have fr not returning is the difficulty of getting into beginning matches, especially if I want to be on a team with some of my friends who have more experience than I do.
I have been playing this game since beta 1 and I still don’t know hot to get into a match and play with a team of friends.
If they had a mechanic in which I could be absolutely sure that I can be on the same team as my guildies and friends, I would return and try it again. Of course, this could be something already implemented, but if so, I didn’t hear about it.
It is opinion, taste, playstyle. You will never “make” something attractive to people who find the base option unattractive.
I like hamburgers. I do not like veggie burgers. Nothing done to a veggie burger will make me want one. The simple fact that I like hamburgers does not carry over.
Anet keeps trying for some reason. They would be better off insuring that the quality of different content appeals the most to people who WANT to do that content and realizing not everyone will.
I love PvP but I don’t even have a clue as to how to enter a sPvP match. When I want to PvP, I just solo roam in WvW. Less stress in solo WvW roaming anyways.
More game modes, more rewards. I’d even be happy with cosmetic stuff/skins you could use outside of Spvp, unique ones only available by playing Spvp would be great, giving incentive for more people to try it out.
My biggest problem with Spvp is that it’s rare to have a full match that isn’t lopsided. I can handle losing, but many can’t. Also, get rid of Skyhammer.

If they really want to make it fun and into an e-sport they need to somehow make it free for everyone to play SPVP and possibly refund people who bought the game for SPVP only if they so choose, because right now it’s not as big as it could be, it needs to be more readily available to more people, league does just that, I believe if gw2 wants to succeed as an e-sport and to be more fun, it needs to be free and have more players

premades should be prioritized to fight premades also matching rank 14s – 16s with a premade full of rank 40s is not cool
They could scrap that horrible Skyhammer map(like completely gone, and all records burned), and add more of the game modes from Guild Wars. That would make me more likely to at least give it a try again.
Not a fan of fighting opponents that you can’t see. I have played hundreds of games from FPS to MOBA to MMO and this is the only one without a reveal mechanic.
I’m not saying that thieves or mesmers are overpowered, thieves are probably a bit weak in the current meta. I’m saying that it’s not fun to flail at the air randomly hoping to hit something that may not be there.
Between that and evade evade dodge miss block evade miss evade block invulnerable invulnerable invulvernable miss block evade. It’s just not very fun.
