So either I’ve been running around in level 70 armor for years without realizing it or my armor changed from 80 to 70. Plus, its Mist Walker armor and the only Mist Walker armor I can find on the wiki is level 80.

Is there something I could have done to change it from 80 to 70?

Did you transmute a level 70 armor with the Mist Walker skin?

Its been years since I did anything with this character’s armor so I don’t remember. I don’t see why I would’ve done that though.

You buy Mist Walker from WvW vendors so I would’ve bought it at level 80 with the skin already in place. And I think that’s the only place to buy it. And every single piece is level 70.

Anything’s possible, is that the only way it could’ve happened? Anyone else had armor transmogrify itself?

Put up a screenshot of your armor… include the info box pop-up. Should be able to tell if it’s a transmuted piece there.

Armour doesn’t transmogrify itself. The likely explanation is that you have equipped level 70 armour at some point by mistake, transmuted it and forgotten. I did something similar with my Reaper where I equipped lvl 70ish armour as aplaceholder, but because I transmuted and dyed, I ended up forgetting all about it until the other day when I noticed.

lol… I had a similar experience. My Rev got the elite spec and explored half of the HoT maps with level 30-40 reward weapons before I noticed.

Here’s a screenshot. How do I tell if its been transmuted?

mistwalker armor is showing up as level 70 armor on all the databases I use

Maybe the wiki is just wrong? Or maybe there’s an alternate way of acquiring it that isn’t mentioned.

I think wvw armor comes in sets of 10s starting at 30?

You bought the wrong set of exotics which would start at 60 or 70?

It doesn’t look like your armor is transmuted. If it were, instead of saying “Skin unlocked” that part will say “Transmuted: xxx armor”.

Only other thing I can think of is that the level changes according to the level of the character buying it. I don’t have a ~70 level toon to test that, but I just went to the WvW vendor on a 80 character, and he definitely sells 80 armors. Going there on a 30 level character doesn’t give an option for any exotic armors.

Back in the day, you could get Mist Walker as a PvP skin and since in PvP you’re 80 … I don’t know.

It’s 80 from the WvW vendor.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

I think there is/was 2 merchants at one time. One for karma which goes from 30 to 80? And the exotic one that goes from 60?-70-80 for badges.
Or something like this.

According to Dulfy’s database, the mist walker armor comes in 3 versions, lvl 60 (Vigorous), 70 (Soldier’s) and 80 (several stat choices). http://db.dulfy.net/search/mist%20walker
As far as I can tell from the wiki, if your character has reached lvl 80 the lower lvl armors are no longer shown by the vendor, though the wiki is a little vague here so I’m not absolutely sure.

In due time, all will serve the asura.

There was level 70 wvw exotic armor in the past, but it’s no longer available because there’s little reason to wear sub -80 exotics which is why Wiki only lists the 80 version. You have, indeed, been accidentally running 70 armor.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
