I am simply tearing my hair out trying to settle on a race for my Warrior. I’ve gotten it down to either Norn or Charr, but simply can’t decide. I love the stories and lore for both (Though Charr comes ahead) and their racials (once again, Charr is a little ahead though), but man, Norn no doubt look better in armor.

So, how’d you decide?

I know right! But man, the -only- armor I like for Charr is the Braham armor and the T3. Everything else just looks so… incredibly…. meeeehhhhhhhhh.

Norn though, just about everything looks fantastic.

I went with human because my gw1 character was a human.

Welcome to the world of the asura, where the only armor that looks remotely good aside from a couple common pieces here and there is the cultural stuff.

I guess the upside is that, despite everything else looking awful, the cultural armor is some of the best in the game, only rivaled perhaps by some human and sylvari tier 3 sets.

I went with human because my gw1 character was a human.

Mine was an Assassin, so my only 80 is a Human Thief!

Yep I agree with you, my charr has settled for the T3 armor, mainly because it’s armor sits correctly with the tail, where with others it just seems to clip it which is annoying.

Though honestly though I picked charr because I preferred the story from them during beta, enjoyed it much more than human which was my second choice, couldn’t stand norn story, that race doesn’t interest me in the slightest.

I have characters in all races but Azura. For me it is a visual thing. I can’t stand the way Azura run so I don’t want to sit there and watch it all day as I play.

I have one Norn thief that I made as big and fat as possible because I thought a big fat thief flying around all over would look funny. A few jumping puzzles and several levels later I ended up getting a total makeover kit and shrunk him down as small as possible. Also with Norn they appear to be moving so slow even though they are not but the visuals make it seem that way. Big fat Norn Mesmer bad idea. That one got scrapped by level 10.

I have a Sylvari ranger because I felt the looks of the Sylvari fit the profession. Aesthetically I have created a great mix and match armor scheme that I feel looks great for the race and profession. It is my favorite character and as of today my first L80.

I have a Charr Mesmer that I selected be cause I thought Charr clones would look pretty cool and I like it. For some reason it took me some time to get used to jumping with it and I think that was due to running on all fours. I have found some armor that doesn’t clip too bad at least I think so. His name is “Civilized Wurm” I don’t know if many will get that reference.

I stick with humans for everything else even though it is kind of generic. I just feel they have the least issues visually and most armor seems to look better on them than others. The armor and weapons they carry seem to have a good balance of standing out but not being overly massive.

Anyway I’m an alt-aholic and after reading my post I believe it is safe to say I am not dedicated to any one race, aside from I will never play an Azura

My first toon is norn. I tend to make my “main” in a game to look like me, or as close as I can manage. Facially anyway. I sure aint build like a norn. Also, being Canadian, I like “northern” chars for “me”, as well. First 3 toons are male. Norn, charr, human. Rest are female; human, norn, norn, human, norn. Love them smexy norns. I may have a bit of a weakness for tattoos, and shapely thighs and strong backs, and….. posteriors.

Yeah

Animations and how armor looked on them. Human males make great warriors, female norns make great guardians, and they each have some of the best and unique animations.
