Guild Wars 2

The Mark says “Double-click to apply to an item with an unused upgrade slot,” but the only thing I have found which will accept it is my pair of Mighty Swindler Gloves of the Afflicted. Those don’t even come with a free upgrade slot, so what’s the trick?

Marks can only be applied to items that are level 20 or higher.

Ah. I saw that page, but didn’t realize what “(level 20)” was intended to mean — I thought it meant that I had to be level 20 . . . especially given the introductory sentence ending “used at (sic) any item with an upgrade slot.” Thank you for explaining.

Runes are often better than marks, so marks/talismans are better used on accessories and rings.
