How do I buy a legendary weapon?
2000g is cheap for the relative amount of time needed to farm them
The hardest part of getting a legendary is
1) clovers
2) shards
3) the lodestone required
And the only really difficult one is the lodestone
And the only really difficult one is the lodestone
If you dont farm them, and just buy the mats, it would still cost around that much…
Price is set by the devs, when they adjust drop rate. I just want to know how to get so much money.
Also, difficult and time consuming are different things.
1000? LOL. I don’t even think i will sell it less than for 2500 gold.

Just going for a lower end of it…
with the effort needed to craft a legendary such as bolt, its price should be no less than around 3500g

my point is, even 1k gold is alot.
How do you get EVEN that much?
Farm cs\dungeons\fractals? Kinda strange question.
Are you seriously asking how to get 1k gold? If you ever chilled in LA and see all the gold spamming I think you found your answer, hell even the mail spam will give you your answer.

Lucky theres not alot of gold spaming in this game…. not to say its not there but its rare
The way that ANet wants you to do it? By buying gems from the store and converting it to gold, or by sacrificing all real-life connections to lose yourself in months of mindless farming.
The way most people end up doing it? By buying gold from Korean and Chinese criminals.
You could always work at farming the parts needed to make it yourself
Keep in mind its just a skin even after its updated when they add in the easy to get version of the weapons they will just be a pure skill item. Your way better off taking your time and farm it up over time make its an life time achievement. Also random question if you buy it form the TP do you still get the achievement?

There I fixed it for you. They put in DR to keep you from getting it through normal game play.
I have had all three gifts complete and only needed Dusk for 3 weeks now. I will never get ahead of the inflation to actually be able to buy Dusk. I tried throwing 200 gold worth of Greatswords into the Mystic Joke and got … jack kitten. Currently I log on to talk to what is left of my guild that haven’t quit this game over the same scenario.
This game has been the biggest let down of my 20 years of gaming. When you NERF a players means of getting gold through game play AND SELL game gold you show yourself to be UNETHICAL.
Because it must be intended by you for them to cost so much.
You are blaming the developers for a price set by players as part of the player-driven market?
You are not exactly an economist, are you?

Its not player driven. Its supply/demand driven. And the supply is controlled by ANet

Do you think ArenaNet controls how many Legendary items there are in the game right now?
Or that they control the demand for those items?
Do you even understand the concept of supply and demand in the first place?

Uh, Anet actually micro manages the market. When that happens it is no longer purely driven by players. THAT is why I have lost confidence in this game. When you are just up against bad luck it is bad enough … without the game company “tweaking” things to get them where they want them. They actually create the demand AND then NERF the players ability to reach the goal which drives people to BUY gold.
Don’t be naive.
No one drives you to buy gold. Get real.
You can farm for legendary components.
You can farm gold to buy it from TP.
Anyways it should take you a lot of time to reach legendary.
The only reason to buy gold is if you want it NAO!!1.
And since legendary is just a skin, you are in no way at a disatvantage for not having one.

Those conspiracy theories are great. ArenaNet has no way to directly create demand for those items, nor to measure exactly how high it will be. They do not control how many people will be willing to bother crafting a Legendary, and so they do not have direct control of the supply of those things.
It’s ridiculous to assume that the policies that are trying to prevent grinders and farmers and exploiters from turning GW2 into a grind cesspool are there to force players to buy gems; it’s the same as saying that the police locks criminals in jail in order to create a fascist state. It is the kind of argument you would see the criminals using, though.

Legendaries are supposed to be a very-long-term goal, so just keep accumulating money and you’ll eventually get one.

At the pace that precursors are going up … no you cannot farm the gold to buy one. Unless you know of a way to generate enough gold to stay ahead of them going up in price daily. Perhaps you are one of the chosen few that never gets DR or has amazing drops … most of us do not suffer from that experience.
I personally have 1,300 HOURS invested in my legendary pursuit … how is that “NAO”? Lemming or a troll … either way try and have a great holiday.
Most high-end people in my guild already have legendary (some even sold their ones on TP) or are on the last stages of getting one. Just from farming cs\dungeons\ fractals.
If you’re wasting a huge amount of time and getting no result – it means you’re doing something wrong.
Mostly pve heroes.

Yes. its called drop rate. Remember when karka event dropped a tonn of precursors? They became slightly more affordable for a while

People have done the math, farming the mats would take casual players over a year to obtain if we pinch every copper piece, that’s obscene. And farming the gold isn’t even possible, inflation rises faster than casual players gain gold.

Anyways it should take you a lot of SKILL to reach legendary.
Fixed that for you.
Sadly, ANet thinks player’s time > Skill

Of course they control how many Legendarys are in the game… they control the drop rate.
Of course they control the demand of Lengendarys… by making it the pre-eminent end game goal.
If you’re going to make condescending reply posts you might want to back it up with some thought chap. You’ll sound a lot less like a rabid fanboy
Gem store > Buy Gems > Convert into gold
Or just in case you’re not incredibly, insanely rich in real life, the more realistic route would be to buy from some Chinese gold seller.
Sadly, ANet thinks player’s time > Skill
Please define skill in GW2.
It’s not like I’m loving the current situation. But what is alternative?
Collect 100500 tokens from every dungeon?
RNG drop from fractals lvl 99?
A prize for winning 1337 paid tournaments?

What if I tell you that legendary is not for casual players.
One year is a nice term. No rush. No mindless grinding. Why not?
The only people who should complain about that are those who want to complete whole game in one month then move to another MMO.

If it took a year of casual play it wouldn’t be so bad, but that’s not what I mean. If you are saving every single copper for a year you aren’t really playing as a casual player, you are essentially missing out on half of every monthly event, you aren’t contributing to your guild, and in the end it just won’t feel like it was worth it.
It’s not as much the time as the amount of sacrifice you have to sustain for the amount of time that makes it not worth it for a casual player.

Well, I dunno.
I’m completing 2 or 3 dungeons per day. And I earn at least one gold per dungeon, without MF gear or omnom bars.
I’m also getting quite a number of cores, ectos, skillpoints and sometimes lodestones.
If I’d have MF set, did more dungeons and also did dragon events for a chance of precursor I’d be getting a lot more stuff.
Frankly, I don’t know where to spend my gold, it just piles up.
Getting a legendary is a problem for WvW or spvp player – that’s true and I think Anet should work on it.
But in pve you kinda progress towards legendary naturally.
I would suggest slowly gathering the mats to make it yourself. It’s really not that bad. I’ve been at it for about 2 months with fairly normal play(granted normal play for me is about 30 hrs a week).
I have everything but the precursor and the gift of magic and everything was attained without buying gold from Anet or the Spammers. I would be a lot closer if i didn’t level 3 characters to 80 and fully exotic geared them through dungeons and crafting, or if i hadn’t crafted 3 sets of exotic gear for my current main to try out different specs…so many wasted mats to figure out i liked my original spec the best lol.
If you want to just straight out buy it? Sadly flipping on the TP is the fastest way to make money, i just can bring myself to stand at the TP for hours and hours.

Its fairly easy. All you have to do is dual-wield your parents credit-card. /waiting for “my grandma told me that joke back in the 80s” comments.
