How do I quote in these forums?
A:
Press the arrow next to the flag in the down right corner of the post you wish to quote. If the forum is bugging out (which it tends to do quite a lot) you can also just type: [ quote ]message here[ /quote ], without the spaces.

but it didn’t work.
Guess it’s a bug.
The icon to quote often does not appear, so you know. You can try re-loading the page over and over, and eventually the edit/reply/link buttons will show up, but just signing in and returning to page often doesn’t work. No idea why.
You can always just copy/paste and enter your own html tags, I’ve done that a few times it’s easier and quicker for pages that aren’t made well.
(Edit: see? now after posting again randomly, I see the icons…)
The irony of buggy forums code…
I’ve not yet been able to pin down what makes the tool-icons show vs. not show.
The quote one looks a lot like the icon for reply on gmail.
If it isn’t giving you the quote icon, you can work around it by manually entering it into the address line of your browser. See the following example:
Clicking on the permalink icon (which is always there) brings me to a post with this on my address line:

I change it to this and hit enter:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/How-do-I-quote-in-these-forums/617038/quote
And voila, it is the same as hitting the quote icon. So
- hit the permalink icon
- change the address by removing the extra before the post number
- add a /quote to the end and hit enter
