How do the Dungeon Diminishing Returns work?

Well, since it appears to be bugged and giving people diminished rewards on the first play through, not even that. Unless you have a sincere love of throwing away your hard earned gold and silver, there’s no reason to run dungeons now.
i got 26s and 13s, 13s in 3 runs. that took like 3 hours..
i’ll probably just do 3 runs max a day. since i barely make any money
Well they destroyed CM story. Overall difficulty was not too bad….much worse to play now. Tons of mobs with spammy KDs, one shotting, champs everywhere. Playing on my mesmer could not even get into melee range with all the CC spam, could not keep up illusions whatsoever. Took me longer to cast them than they spent actual time in game world.
Moving on from this game….PVE is dead. I kinda lost confidence in their ability to create a fun game, they are more focuses on stopping farming then creating a fun game to play. CM story is not fun at all to play. Game play is bad….oh yeah I got 2 silver for completing….22k xp and level 80 and 2 silver.
Common really? GW2 = uninstalled

Me too, I have learned from experience just uninstall the game and cut your losses. Bottom line is…its not the difficulty. Challenge can be fun. Its just the way its presented. One shotting and being spam CCed are not cool. Heck I could not even cast phantasms in CM, they just got destroyed faster than I could cast them. Melee are totally screwed.
And they intentionally made these changes. It shows just how far gone Anet is….they need to make sure the gameplay is fun., that is priority number one. Stopping dungeon farming should be quite a bit further down the list. So I mean what I gather from this is that they are willing to make the game krappier…and will continue to do so in the future.
So screw it. I just uninstall and find something else to play. Now I have much more free time.

That’s how I feel given ArenaNet seems heck-bent on making it so that no activity in the game actually gives you money or drops. The constant addition of diminishing return systems is seriously starting to wear on me.
I have already played a fair amount of gameplay and it’s been great, up until they implemented that stupid anti-farming garbage. Now I can’t go do events because I get horrible money and xp from them, can’t go farm materials or drops from mobs because they drop basically nothing after the first few minutes, and now I can’t even get any money out of dungeons because they ruined those too.
I wish they would work on fixing stuff that’s broken instead of working feverishly on ways to make my gameplay be less rewarding while not actually doing anything to deter botting.
First run of CoF: -8s (3s reward, 11s repair cost)
Second run of CoF: 3s
Third run of CoF: 3s
I’m almost positive that they said they didn’t want dungeons to be the end all be all thing people did before they released the game. There are plenty of other things to do in this game for both exp and gold.

Uh, the combat was not fun at all in there. On my Necro I’m even more angry/jealous of dogs that can cast a fear that last probably 10x the duration of any fear I could cast even traited/runed for fear duration…. Seriously, what the kitten?

Have you tried farming in different zones? I haven’t had any problems gaining experience or gold now that I found different spots in each of the 80 zones that I can go to.
Once I hit the cap in one zone, I move to the next, then the next, and I can circulate this for days.
The anti-farming script prevents you from farming the same THING over and over. Not farming in general.

From my experience, the anti-farming loot drop stuff kicks in a few minutes into killing stuff. If it’s of a particular type, leaving the area usually doesn’t matter (i.e., Orr, all the mobs are risen, so the anti-farming stuff kicks in across all of them).
The anti-farming event stuff kicks in in about 20-30 minutes every time, and applies to all events, not just the one you just completed, meaning there’s no reason to do events after it kicks in since you get such terrible rewards.
So yeah, I’m not really talking about hardcore farming behavior, I’m talking about just wandering around an area killing stuff or doing events. The anti-farming system is WAY TOO AGGRESSIVE and prevents even normal play from giving rewards.

2. VERY obvious, they dont want you to have fun.
3. VERY obvious, they dont want you to be frustrated.
4. VERY obvious, they want to punish new players that havent joined the game yet.
5. NOT SO obvious, they want you to spend money on Gems.
Wow…. like I had a reason to run dungeons before…. I mean besides the blue gear and the super long grind for tokens….. oh yeah, those were bad reasons….

I’m relatively sure it’s bugged, as for some people it kicks in and then lowers the reward of all subsequent events and for some people it works how it sounds like it was intended, only lowering the reward if you repeat that same event.
For me, it’s definitely the former and I’ve tested it several times. It’s ruining the dang game because it means that if I want to go do events, instead of a proper reward I get next to nothing, all for playing normally (NOT FARMING).

Yeah really. It’s not like the dungeons were a great idea to do before, now it’s completely out of the question since wasting 2+ hours only to lose 10s+ is not something most people are going to bother with, ever.

Again, the dungeons weren’t put in this game to be the sole thing you do to make money/exp. They were put there to be challenging content for a group of people and would reward you with unique skins that cannot be gotten any other way. If you run with a pug then it’s a painful experience, but ANet said before hand it was meant to be done with a coordinated group of players. You do them enough times and you get your armor skins and move on or you choose not to do them and go after skins from somewhere else.
In the end people were running dungeons for the very reason ANet was against, farming/leveling, so why act surprised when they make changes to go along with the philosophy they set forth years before the game was released?
First time running magg path on CoF and i got 13 silver. Is it bugged? CoF wasn’t my last dungeon that i have done yesterday.

I really agree that the system is gone mad. I’ve did this dungeon once and I received the minimum award I got awarded two days ago. I am quite disappointed. To be honest. I think that the gw2 team should of taken more time creating the game making their systems better. I’m sure u guys seen their unique systems that no other game had which makes it fun. But I think that they just released this new system with minimal testing. They should of thought this over. We can understand they are trying to make a perfect game but as of now it’s making the opposite effective. Though it is released and thus we are basically testing it and they are evolving it every week, I think that they should first stop this system, add a basic temporary anti bot program such as typing in the word etc and start fixing the system. THIS IS MY OPINION I KNOW I CAN BE WRONG , if u think I’m wrong please don’t be to harsh on the criticism.
I’m agreeing with the way they screwed over CM and the like, but there’s one point we’re kind of missing: scaling of money.
Remember when we first started that gem exchange was like 26-100? yea, now it’s double. the Dusk was only 100 gold instead of god knows what it is now. Anet is having to deal with the problem of inflation, which is why they probly added diminishing returns to help circumvent this.
Of course, that’s no excuse to ruin the gameplay of the dungeons. And with that, it’s getting even harder to play dungeons when they’re unlocked, making it near impossible for my lv 59 ele to even beat a single dungeon.
