How do you guys make all your gold?
Buy gems and wait till when the exchange rate gets high then exchange for gold
CoF farm! 1 run = average 15 mins = average 75 silver
I just play normally. Go out, complete hearts and events, kill monsters. I salvage whites for mats and Rares for ectos, vendor blues, sell greens on the TP if they’re worth it (else vendor them). Once I finish a stack of mats, I sell it on the TP for a nice chunk of change.
It’s not the fastest way of earning money, but it’s a slow and steady accumulation. (Not to mention that I’m also accumulating a fair bit of value in terms of unsold rarer materials.) I don’t spend a lot, so this method works for me.
I used to make gold from crafting berserker and apothecary swords and staves. You could make from 6 to 8 gold a piece but with all the loot nerfs across the game crafting is pointless now unless you are playing this game 24 7.
I used to sell every junk I get from Maw…
I go find a zerg group in WvW now. Makes it a fun way to farm some gold and karma

buying and selling other peoples stuff on the TP
Farming Dragons and other Mega Bosses with alts via server guesting every single day thanks to fixed World Event Timers. Oh wait, they’re nerfing it
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
absolute fastest way is speed farming CoF P1.
Although Orr farming can yield good results still even with the event nerf they added last patch.
And if you have a fast character thief/ele running around the high level maps and farming ori/omnoms can yield very good incom per hour.
I grind 24/7 when I’m hopped up on AMP and come out with a total of 5g
totally worth it mang
I dunno I change it up. Usually Orr farming (running around collecting materials and doing any events) and lately boss farming (I really only do about 2 or 3 bosses and then get bored). The 5s from dailies adds up too if you can complete those.
Vendor all my blues and greens. Salvage the golds and whites. Keep the materials I wanna keep and sell the rest that I don’t use. I usually keep ectos and tier 5 and 6 mats. Make golds with tier 5 mats and salvage those if I need more ectos for whatever reason or sell them. Usually sell tier 6 gems since I don’t have a master jewelcrafter and only keep the ones I need for legendary. If you sell all the things I hoard you can definitely make easy money. :P
Usually can get 1 or 2 gold a day, of course you can get more if you play longer and more luck. I really don’t play long these days, maybe at most 5 hours in the evenings.
I’ve been running all bosses with all characters but that’s about to die. Back to CoF p1 while we still can because sure as kitten that’s on the list to be nerfed too.
i usually sell everything except t6 mats. As of now i’m selling any excess ectos i get.
- I do my daily. While the 5s isn’t a whole lot, one laurel is equivalent to about 5g given the cost of the triforge amu. Plus chance at free BLC items
- When I have time, a fractal run gives me nice money
- While waiting for group, do the JP in Lion’s Arch. You get at least several medallions which sell for 1s each. It’s just free money while doing nothing really.
- Chill around in Orr for events or Southsun for Karka Shells and Passion Fruit.
- Any dungeon. Doing 3 paths gives you a piece of exotic armor which is equivalent to 3g. If you don’t need the armor anymore, salvage for ecto.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
Eeerr bronze, silver, and gold actually. I have taken to gathering and taking everything off of what I kill and selling it on the market. It’s not super fast, but it gets me there.
What do you do?
crafting mats are worth more than crafted items
crafting pieces (bronze shoulder plates, chest pads, etc.) are worth more than a completed item due to people power levelling the crafting professions on their alts or to make legendaries.
50 dollars in gems is almost 60 gold atm.
if you are going buy the 2k gold legendaries that are featured on the trading post everytime you open it, don’t sweat those. nobody spends that amount of gold on a legendary.
Exotic dancing.

Do people still take non mesmer/zerker warriors in Cof?

I buy a steel armor, dye it with gold dye and sell it to the Skritt in LA auction house.

Trading post and farming like a madman.
Well hey, looks like there’s something that didn’t change from GW1! Every man and his dog is CoF farming.

Try gw2lfg. Most groups don’t care what class you are. Even non zerk groups can manage 10 minutes.
Do people still take non mesmer/zerker warriors in Cof?
Not really no, everyone seems to be looking for 4 zerk warrior and a mesmer for CoF, with 1-2 of the warrior being able to be swapped out for thiefs if needed.
I play the game in my own way… and the gold accumulates over time.
I am anti-censorship, for it doesn’t make sense to pander to a minority.
I sell gems. Not very creative, but effective.

What do you do?
For my copper, I usually go to Queensdale, but Wayfarer Foothills is a nice substitute. For my silver, I’ll go to the Fields of Ruin or Brisband Wildsland, lots of silver to make there. The best place to make gold though is the Harathi Hinterlands.
(This is a joke post in protest of why a Gold Ingot only nets you 6 copper at an NPC)
I World vs World… It’s not the path to mega riches, but I get to kill people in the process, so it works for me!
I sell my mats, do dungeons, and finish dynamic events. I get a lot of gold from doing them.
Most of my gold comes from CoF.
I do some world bosses for rares also, but I only have one 80. So I don’t farm on alts (so I guess the nerf won’t affect me much).
I also do crafting when I don’t have much time to dedicate to doing other things. The profit margins of crafted items are not that great though tbh.

This. Play the game basically. Sure you can make slightly more with concentrated efforts such as mob-farming or playing the TP, but for me those kind of activities are so boring it seems like it takes far longer.
TP is incredibly INCREDIBLY boring, I run CoF p1 in zerker group… there are loads of groups that don’t require 1 mes+4 war though, so you’re good anyways.
The people who answered with “gems” make me hate this game and the fact that Legendaries (items that will be upgraded to ascended tier) are buyable with gold T-T

You must be joking.
You think playing the TP is boring yet run CoF P1 speed runs? They are just as if not more boring than playing the TP.
The best way I have found to make money in GW2 is flipping items on the trading post.
Just 30 minutes per day and the gold flows in.
Boring as hell, but more profitable by a HUGE, HUGE margin than anything else you can do in game.
Two words: Nightmare coil
Well I have a this grinning shield skin in my bank. I basically have nothing to do to make money
Besides that I don’t really focus on it. Doing 3 Paths of one dungeon in a row can get you a pretty good amount of money and it is actually pretty fun as long as you stay away from those boring dungeons. Leveling alts seems to be another good way of getting a steady income without having the feeling that you are doing a tedious grind. Also I stopped salvaging anything that could contain wood or leather because both t5 and t6 versions of it aren’t worth it anymore (GW2 needs more recipes that use both materials!!)
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
I get all my gold from farming… i guess. What i do is i go to 80, then get all the ore nodes in places such as Wayfayer, Brisban Wildlands and Orr. After that i would sell all i got on the trading post. Also, Crafting is pretty profitable. I got my level 39 up to 400 tailor and i can sell a level 50 yellow for about 30 silver each. So i buy like what 30 silver for each set of armor and get about 1.8 gold. Also now with the new update i can sometimes get gems. It works but not always the best way.

Oh and one more. Now a day some people get stuff like dusk, then just fill in an order and they get like 800 gold in an instant. Or they can go for twilight and once they’e done, get 2100 gold instantly. But seriously, the drop rate for these weapons are SO low that its not even worth trying to get them.
CoF farm! 1 run = average 15 mins = average 75 silver
trololol .. good joke, dont know if your serious or what. no one farms cof p1 or any one path anymore and that number is closer to 50silver even with opening all the bags and vendoring your loot. but seriously..do dungeons. and champ farming in frostgorge or whatever, dont know if thats still a thing or what bcause i honestly havent done in awhile.
omfg that guy posted that 7 months ago when cof p1 was viable….this thread is old as hell…
…The post you’re quoting, Nagr, is from seven months ago. Now I’m not sure if you’re serious or what. \=
Edit: Champ beat me to it.
hahahhaha my bad. didn’t read the post date xD
but seriously making gold now is easy as kitten, just do your daily dungs and if you have the time farm champs or whatever its about these days ..

Got a Precursor in WvW, sold it for 600 gold on TP. Gold is no longer a worry for me.
Chinese gold farmers
Frostgorge champ farm, 10g an hr sometimes more depending on your luck with rng.
With many players a few things happened that I’ve been keeping track of since head start.
- Headstarters got in that first month powerleveled before they messed with the drop rates 2 months after launch, a time when you could even get exotics from open world chests without magic find.
- The event in Southsun allowed multiple players to login to every Alt they had and get multiple precursors, since then the economy has been completely wacked.
- The lopsided loot algorithm that existed prior to their changing the magic find system caused some players to get all of the loot all of the time making it and unfair advantage in most cases many people like me stopped playing during this time due to this problem. (you could literally get your magic find up to 300% and it wouldn’t make a difference in your drops at all).
It’s different now tho even tho some people are still holding onto their gold they earned way back in the beginning.
