How do you make your gold in GW2?
I play the game what ever i feel like wvw, world bosses, spvp, fractals, meta events hot, less now but sometimes even a dungeon or 2.
Always harvest everything i run by aswell.
If you have stocked up a good bit of karma, here’s a cool way to make gold off of it.
- Step 1) Complete this heart event if you haven’t
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Teach_quaggans_how_to_raise_crabs - Step 2) The heart merchant for that heart event sells cloth crab grabbin’ gloves, buy as many as you want (just make sure it’s a number divisible by four)
- Step 3) As all karma equipment are, these gloves aren’t salvageable. However, if you combine four of these gloves into the mystic forge, there is a high chance that they will turn into a salvageable level 45 glove set, which, when salvaged, will yield cotton or linen.
- Step 4) Sell the cotton and linen on the trading post and repeat this process as many times as you’d like.
This method is probably just as boring as playing the trading post and doesn’t pay off as much, but it sure is a lot less time consuming.
I play the game and occasionally farm the TP, and by farming I mean buying items, salvaging them and selling the salvage for profit. No different IMO as farming the open world or gathering mats. It is a form of flipping with some form of manipulation added in but nothing someone could do on their own rather than selling their loot to the highest bidder at 60 copper to the silver.

I used to do this, had one of those pocket forges and used macros…. even with macros it would still take HOURS to go through all the karma I have. I eventually got sick of it and sold my pocket forge back on the tp for a slight loss and don’t regret it… must have spent 10hours doing that crap at least.
I only play WvW basically, so I don’t make gold

Gold is made either by farming or providing a credit card.
I play the TP. There is some GREAT cash to be made but you just have to learn for yourself and profit build with experience. Nothing you read online is going to help.
Since dungeons aren’t rewarding anymore, when i need gold i go the the silverw(h)astes and watch a movie while ocasionally pressing f.
Daily crafting:
- Put buy order for all mats needed for deldrimor steel, spiritwood plank, elonian leather, and bolt of damask => craft all of them and then list them on tp. Each item should give you around 2-3g profit
- Make charged quartz crystal then craft leyline infused tool. This should net you around 2g profit.
Those are the quickest way to make money from crafting atm. Profit may differ depending on the market price

I farm the TP by buying items, salvaging them and selling the salvage for profit and also occasionally play the game.
No spreadsheets or anything like that. Just log in, update buy orders, collect the previous day’s purchases, salvage them and sell the materials.
Most days result in profit of about 40-80g, but some days can get up to 200g + depending on my buy order competition while I was offline, what day of the week it is and what time of day I last updated my orders. Made about 150 or so gold yesterday for 30ish minutes of buy order updates and an hour or so of salvaging.
As for why I am at the TP more often than out playing the game:
I prefer to switch up character appearances frequently via incorporating individual pieces of gem store armor sets and then play the content I enjoy (PvE adventuring), not farming content I do not enjoy just to get a single piece of a set for a single armor weight and then have to repeat farming that content I do not enjoy for another piece.
I would fashion and re-fashion new and existing characters and actually play the game more if they’d go back to releasing armor skins in the gem store and increase their releases to at least one new set a month.
No need to rush the sets or wait and release a set for all three weights at the same time, that’s ridiculous. 3 sets a month is unlikely to be achievable, so stagger their releases. Release a light set in the store, I’ll buy it and incorporate elements of it into my light armor characters and play them. Then release a medium set a month later and I’ll incorporate elements of it into my medium characters and play them. Then release a heavy set.
3 months to work on a single set of armor skins for an armor weight sounds very doable to me. A total of 4 light, 4 medium and 4 heavy sets in a year and they’d be sure to have me logging in pretty much every single day buying their stuff with actual money and actually playing the game again instead of logging in almost every day to farm gold from the TP until I finally get tired of it and take a break.

If they hadn’t discowered the cash grab thats outfits i betcha we’d be getting more than 3 armorsets in the gemstore every month. Now we don’t get that many for an expansion :p
Most of the time I don’t worry about it. I just play whatever I want and let my gold build up gradually until I have enough for the next thing I want.
But there are times when I either need a lot of gold quickly (like when I wanted the mini Gwynefyrdd, and therefore 100,000 candy corn, during Halloween) or when I need so much gold that simply waiting for it to build up isn’t practical, like when I was buying a precursor.
When that happens my first step is to go through my material storage looking for anything I don’t need, or don’t need much of and can therefore sell. Yesterday I made almost 100g selling off materials I’ve built up over the last few months.
Sometimes I look for farming options I don’t mind. As a rule I hate farming, I could never be one of those people who spends 8 hours doing a map meta event or whatever, or running every easy dungeon path every day back when that worked. But I don’t mind doing the odd round of Silverwastes, or going around a map gathering materials so I’ll do that. Over Wintersday I did the jumping puzzle and Bell Hero a lot because I enjoy those and selling the contents of the presents got me about 300g.
One thing I don’t understand is people who say buying gems with real money and converting them is a good idea. I actually considered that after the shared inventory slots came out, as a way to get a permanent bank access contract. They’re just over 2000g. on the TP and at the current exchange rate that comes to 14,912 gems or just over £158. Even the Chaos Sword skin I’m currently saving for is 240g, or 1,775 gems or £19. Considerably cheaper but still not worth it.

I just wanted to say thanks for reminding me of this. I need a lot of cotton and linen at the moment to level armorcrafting and I’d actually forgotten this was a reliable way to get them.
