Hi there.

I wanted to ask about executing GW2 with the Steam client. I have friends there and I like to chat over there, also I find it another subtle way to encourage them playing it when they see that I’m playing it.

However, I’m fearing that Steam client may do anything to the GW2 executable that may be consider a 3rd party violation. ¿any feedback about that? O.ò

Also, does anyone knows if using the Steam client may affect the GW2 conexion stability? (My ping use to be fine, I get disconexion when I join to the massive maps, in the final battle of Dragon Deffense, Tarir battle, the T4 in the night event, etc…), but apart of that, I don’t have any other problem and I never have any noticeable lag). Would Steam affect this on a worring way?

Don’t worry, the only thing that will happen is that the Steam Overlay will be run alongside the game. It doesn’t touch the game’s executable. It’ll eat up some of your RAM, but as far as network goes, if you have Steam on anyway then it shouldn’t use much if any more than Steam was already using.

Nah, steam won’t do anything other then provide an overlay when you press shift + tab and taking screenshots. I use steam to launch all of my games, including Guild Wars 2 so my friends see what I’m playing.

Like said earlier,
Running a non steam game through steam only starts the overlay, nothinelse. Obviously it could crash, but it does nothing to the game.
