I’m told there is a 500 gold limit you can take from your mail each week? How does this work? If i sell a legendary, will it only allow me to take out so much? Is there just a cap on ow much someone can take? Im confused and dont want to get banned.

Read through this. It should answer your questions.

Wealth transfer restrictions for Mail & Guild Bank

Beginning on March 31, 2015, there will be a limit on how much gold a single player can receive through in-game mail and/or the Guild Vault each week.

Full details about the system:
* Each account will have a limit on how much gold can be moved from its mail in-box and Guild Vault into its wallet each week.
* If you receive more gold through in-game mail than you can accept in a week, the gold will remain attached to the mail in your in-box and can be retrieved up to the limit the following week or in subsequent weeks.
* For the purposes of this limit, a week begins at 12:01 AM UTC each Sunday (5:01 PM PDT/4:01 PM PST Saturday).
* Gold received from the Trading Post is not subject to this limit.
* The maximum amount of gold that can be sent via a single in-game mail will be 500 gold.
* The maximum total amount of gold that an individual player account can accept in a week will be 500 gold.

What happens to gold I’m not able to collect from my mail?
Gold you’re not able to collect will remain in your mail until you’re able to collect it – nothing will be lost. You can still choose to use the “Return to sender” button if you want to return what’s left over to the player who sent it.

Will these restrictions stop me from getting the money I earn on the Black Lion Trading Post?
No, these restrictions only apply to in-game mail and guild vaults.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

also do not sell legendaries and precursors through mail, if you only faintly know ppl. Ifg you get scammed you lose your precrursor legendary AND your cash. A-Net might be willing to punish the offender but not -EVER- return wealth lost in this manner.

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Yeah, Anet won’t help you get your gold back because they’re trying to coerce people to use the TP so they [Anet] can take the TP tax in their on-going attempts to control the in-game currency values.

It’s amazong how Draconian their mechanics are in this game to control what players can do and funnel them through the tax system, or in the case of the fatuous “you have posted too many sales” roadblock get so frustrated trying to dispose of loot that players ‘lose’ a lot of gold simply be being forced to vendor it instead of waiting hours to TP it.

For any high value item just use the TP. It may cost but it’s far safer and you aren’t going to get scammed. Payments made through the TP do not affect your weekly trade allowance.

The 500 gold limit is there to limit the effect of gold sellers, scammers and account thieves normally it will not affect. In this you can only receive 500 gold per week from other players or withdraw from a guild bank.

Prior to this it was quite possible for someone to compromise an Officer’s or Leader’s account and steal everything from the guild bank.

I have only ran into the account lock once since it was put into effect. I bought a close friend, who was very ill at the time, a precursor and then a lot of the mats needed to turn it legendary. Because the cap had just been installed I was unaware of it and ended up with several hundred gold in limbo between two of my accounts for a few days.

It did not include the value or quantity of mats in the calculation. This may be an indicator why gold sellers seem to be offering high value items.

Anet just needs to implement a P2P trading function in this game already. They just want to prevent shady players (gold sellers) from exploiting the system, but not having the system just creates more room for shady players to operate.
