So i played the game for about 1 month right after release but ended up getting bored with the game due to imo, lack of polish in regards to pvp. Now Im really looking to get back into a mmorpg with good pvp aspects, and there is no way Im going back to WoW. From what Ive heard GW2 has been improved a ton since release, could someone just give a basic rundown of what improvements have actually been made to the game, pvp wise, i would really appreciate it. When i was playing some simple things really turned me off like dying from invisible people, my world consistently getting stomped in wvwvw, ect…

There are tons of things added!
Tons of things made.

The most important additions are:

  • There culling has bin fixed in WvW! (No longer getting hit by invisible players just because they have not been loaded properly yet)
  • WvW now has a separate worldXP with various benefit on leveling up.
  • Various tweaks and fixes in the world.
  • Various tricks to make the teams in WvW a bit more balanced.
  • Some new types of siege weapons and upgrades, including the ability to get Ascended (the new best type of gear)
  • Certain Game-breaking abilities from items no longer work in WvW.
  • 3 new maps on Structured PVP.
  • Profession Balancing.
  • Unique set of dally and monthly achievements for PVP.
  • Leaderboards!

Persisting problems:

  • The borderland maps are still copy’s of each other.
  • The WvW can still be terribly unbalanced despite the additions.
  • The are still only domination type structured PVP maps despite the new ones!
…and don’t be toxic!

Thanks you for the nicely summed up info. I think i will give GW2 another shot, especially considering its not like im losing any money since i already own the game.

You listed a lot of changes to WvW, but none of the great ones for actual S/TPvP, which includes spectator mode and custom arenas. The only reason I mention this is because the OP asks about PvP, even though he mentions WvW in his OP too.

Only things bad about SPvP in this game is lack of duels, and lack of map variation (all of them are point cap/hold). Besides that a lot of improvements and balancing has happened.
