How im suposed to get gold now?
They wanted to “disincentivize” the running of dungeons and put that gold into other activities. Fractals, one assumes. Maybe raids.
ANet may give it to you.
Well, you could spend 20 minutes in Dry Top doing the sandstorm events and come out with 4 gold worth of Coarse Sand to sell on the Trading Post, along with whatever else drops along the way (hi, Charged Lodestones!).
You can unlock the Itzel village waypoint in Verdant Brink and glide down from there to the Flax farm on the jungle floor, harvest the eight nodes, and make 1-2 gold depending on how lucky you are with the results.. then repeat on every character you have.
There’s lots of options available to you, you just have to look for them.

20 min for 4 gold with an anoying event in wich you need to pickup crap :|, at least dungens were not so annoying and could also get tokens to buy exotics and salvage for exoplasm.
What I don’t get is the push to ‘de-incentivize’ anything in a game where pretty much every action has some sort of carrot hanging out there to be grabbed. You’d think they would want everything to be rewarding and not a waste of time.
This thread demonstrates why I think Anet nerfed dungeons … people with no idea about the game other than running the same content over and over for gold. Based on what I’ve seen, that’s not what Anet would like you to experience with their game.
I think the issue is that gold wasn’t necessarily the “carrot” they wanted to dangle. Or, rather, they wanted to make it so other avenues would seem more profitable, specifically those avenues that require interaction with the market for profit rather than dropping gold straight into the players’ pockets. I suppose they could make up for it with better loot, which is why the Silverwastes remains a good source of income, especially if you’re savvy about what you salvage vs. what you sell on the trading post (and for how much).
See, what happenned was your method of grinding gold was out of line with arenanet’s intended method of play.
They made a change to prevent the most efficient means of earning gold from totally ecplising all other means.
They’re attempting to equalize income so that no matter what you do, you’re gaining roughly similar amounts of money, and the unique rewards from picking different types of content come in the form of cosmetics.
They want people to run dungeons because they want dungeon skins, fractals because they want fractal skins, HoT zones because they want HoT skins, and raids because they want raid skins, and they want all of those people, doing whatever content they find most fun, to be making roughly similar amounts of gold to buy the things they aren’t earning on their own.
