Hello everyone.

One thing I love doing is devoting my time to doing things for other players in MMOs. In the past I’ve done this through grinding and power leveling in diablo 3, as well as making a reddit post on the WoW subreddit saying that I would pick one person to farm tons of gold for.
However my interest in these games has waned and I’ve been looking for a new game, I made an other post on reddit about MMOs people would recommend for someone who is into doing these kinds of things, and Guild Wars 2 came up quite a bit, although most of the people who recommended it don’t know much about the game like myself.

I myself have played it a bit in the past but as my highest character was only around 30, I’m still very clueless about the game. I’d like to give Guild Wars 2 an other try and I’d just like to know how much of an impact it would make if someone grinded a lot of gold for you or was willing to go out and gather materials for you. Would it be a big deal and save a ton of time? Or would it just be a minor convenience?
That’s all I’d like to know, thank you. By the way if anyone is interested in this offer then maybe you could say so, and when I level up I could do that for you!

Gold is the only thing that matters.

Crafting only matters if you want the option to make ascended gear/legendaries

Well…I enjoy crafting. I like to equip my team in the best possible gear, even though it is not necessary. Because of that I have never had much gold.

Gold comes and goes. For me gold is there to get other stuff. Recently the Guild Hall has eaten up everything and my characters have been neglected. But I am still having fun.

One does not need very much gold to enjoy the game nor does one have to craft. It is up to what each individual values or likes to do.

That will depend on the individual person. Someone working on a legendary might appreciate a lot of donations of the tradeable parts (or gold to buy them), or might want to achieve it all his/herself. I have friends who have never had more than 50 gold at once in this game and still have a lot of fun.

For me personally the only thing that I don’t seem able to get on my own, so long as I’m willing to sell off things that I have saved for in case I want them some day, is the permanent hair kit. I just don’t have thousands of gold in a lump for that and the BL chests stubbornly refuse to drop it >< Well, that and 249 amalgamated gemstones, which I will be gathering piecemeal for a long time. But that’s only because I elected to make one of the new legendaries — without that I’d not need so much expensive stuff!

I really do think that only someone going for a legendary would have any great need for a “sugar daddy” as it were. Maybe if they’re building ascended armor and weapons too? You can’t craft those for them but the big sink of those is the ascended ingots/leather/damask which is tradeable.

Oh, here’s a thought. Rather than try to aid just one person, find a small guild struggling to get all the massive amounts of mats together to upgrade their guild hall and help them build it up, possibly help fund their chosen scribe if s/he is likely to stay a member of that guild (or become that scribe — it’s expensive, for now, though the April update might tame that down). Then you’d have 10 to 20 grateful people!

Actually, given the availability of getting ascended items now, crafting is almost completely useless (unless you want a legendary). Most of the important foods can be bought, most ascended items can be obtained’ via completing content.

While I do say ‘can be obtained’, crafting does aid the speed of acquisition. Without it you rely on RNG or lots of hard work, with it, you can sink gold to get these items faster.
