I decided I should put more game time into this meta event to try and get the node reward. How important is it going to be to have it? It seems like since it is a resource node it would be a huge advantage to have one.

I don’t think I’m going to be able to finish the meta because of time and the fact that I’m just terrible at the game. Jump puzzles, haha more like death puzzles for me. Will I really need the darn thing for much in the future anyway? Also when does the event end?

3 or so of the new crystal per day only able to be farmed in home instances until the zone re-appears. If you like to craft it is important otherwise not.
It will be present for a month total I believe with a change in story after 2 weeks.

Many of the crystals can be ported to with a mesmer, i ended up doing about 15-20 of them with guildies last night. Pretty sure you have 3.5 weeks to finish it.

As far as anyone knows, it will be the only source of the mats needed for making gear with the celestial stats once the event is over. So, that alone makes it seem important, however, celestial stats are terrible.

It will be nice to have as a little easy way to make some money every day, but I doubt it will be a big deal.

Okay thanks. I’m not going to slam my head against my monitor trying to get it then. That darn race is killing me but at least I get some achievements for doing it a bunch of times. I’ve got 11 achievements so far so maybe I’ll get time to work on the others. That darn Lessons from the Sky took me five hours LOL. That is the most time I’ve spent in game at one time.

If you haven’t already, I suggest doing the kites! You wouldn’t even need to touch the Fractals or WvW one (7 kites total) to get the total of 16. If you are having trouble jumping, there will probably be a mesmer around to help.

I have no problem with mini-games in a variety of genre. People that enjoy them can play them and those who don’t can stay away. No problem. The only real problem is when you hide significant reward behind some other genre other than the one people bought. I watched the dev livestream and it took a few seconds to realize that this is just an extended platformer. (The guy behind the JP’s is obviously quite talented and this may be a case of when you have a great hammer everything’s going to look like a nail.) I wouldn’t choose to do the LS this way, but I won’t get all bent out of shape around it…unless, significant reward is attached to the platforming.

Wiki says they also come in heavy bags or somesuch. Either way, Halloween event was 9 months ago and the crafting mats like chattering skull and teeth and whatnot are still on the TP at 1000+ and less than a silver per unit. Plenty of snowflakes too, so I don’t think anyone will be hurting for quartz.

Even so, you can mine the node once a day (per account not per character) and it takes 25 quartz to refine into one crafting mat version, and like five of those to make an insignia… so maybe you can craft one item every month or two without buying some from the TP.

Even if you just sell them, after the shiny wears off they’ll be worth about 20c per crystal. An extra 3 silver a week isn’t going to break the economy.

If you like the event, go ahead and complete it, myself, I’m not that fond of jumping puzzles especially when falling means I have to pay for a wp because every fall kills me. It’s no big deal if you skip it, and certainly no one is required or being pushed into doing it or risk getting left behind.

I got 1 kite, the freebie in Queensdale. I was looking into the others but they all seem to be in jump puzzles some place. I don’t think I have even been to the areas they are in LOL.

I’ll need 2 or 3 more kites to get the achievement done I think. Guess I’ll have to look at some maps and run for my life. Do the jump puzzles for getting the kites involve agressive mobs as well?

Some do (the dredgehaunt one for example, or Griffonrook), but if you do it soon, safety in numbers from many other people going for the same thing might make it relatively easy. Just avoid Obsidian Sanctum, unless you have a lot of friends willing to help you out with it.
