My calendar says it’s still September and I had only 10 kills and a few bites of xp to complete!
Not cool!!!

I was closely keeping track of my WvW kills, 3 away when it reset. Kinda bummed.
But technically, it IS October at GMT 0.

October for me.

I’m in Arizona, so it’s mountain time 5:40 pm, sept 30. I just dont’ get this

Resets 8PM EST just like the daily achievements, I was prepared and finished up my salvaging and WvW kills today

The “game day” starts at 12 midnight GMT, which is 8 pm Eastern Time/5 pm Pacific Time. Since today is the last day of the month, fairly obviously the new month began at 12 midnight GMT forty-two minutes ago. It’s unfortunate for those who didn’t manage to get their monthlies completed before the cutoff time, but that’s just how it is. ANet has to set a schedule somewhere and basing it on Greenwich/Universal Time is pretty much the most reasonable option IMO. Somebody is going to get the short end of the stick no matter what time a certain event is scheduled at, and that’s also just how it is.

Server time vs local time. It doesn’t matter which day it is in your time zone, if the servers are ahead it’s already October.

Daily and Monthly achievements — they reset back to zero at the start of each day and month respectively, at midnight UTC (4:00 PM PST/5:00 PM PDT).

Yea, short end of the stick. I guess I could’ve looked this up but I was under the impression they used the Seattle PST/PDT for server resets.

There should be an ingame calendar or warning for this. I already had completed it weeks ago, but it must suck for those who weren’t aware.

Seems so odd to me that people care about this.. or why Anet even puts it in the game. I’ve never understood achievements, badges, and other completion stuff anyhow, though. I’ve read that was a big part of GW1, too..

I know the reward isn’t that hot. But it plain sucks working towards something like this and at the very last minute have all that effort be for nothing.

Because the calender in Gw2 is GMT 0

You’re GMT -8 which means you’re 8 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time so when its October 1st in Greenwich you’re still september 30th.

An entire month of trying to deal with the broken survivor achievement. Some of us have work and lives.

That was the last one I needed and I finally had time to sit down and spend the gold leveling my crafting to get it.

Then I noticed how shafted I got.

If they haven’t played for a month then perhaps they should just get over it and face the new monthly achievement head on :P

They have posted before saying when dailies/monthlies reset for players. It is also on the wiki. Guess what month it is for the time zone it’s set to?

OMG the kitten filter picks up who followed by reads as a bad word. That kind of crummy coding explains a lot of what we see in game.

The word WHO and the first two letters of REad spell the filtered word.

The filter ignores spaces because people are known to try circumvent filters by adding spaces.

It’s like some people are shocked to discover there’s more than one timezone. Welcome to the world, folks.

3. Daily achievements have been resetting at midnight UTC every day since launch.

I can understand if you missed the first two, but surely you noticed the reset time for your daily achievements.

Is it the same monthly achievement as last month? If not, can anyone post this month’s goals.

goals are the same regardless of the month I believe.

Oh? I think i’ve read somewhere that they are going to change from month to month. I’m not sure tho, that’s why i’m asking if they changed.

well if they changed already, should be easy to tell if they have changed or not. to be honest, I’ve haven’t bothered with the month achievements so shrugs.

Dailys and monthlys go by midnight UTC time, or 8pm eastern US

Does no one read dev posts? They posted a while that its based off a certain time zone, i would assume the Global time since thats when it changed. Pretty simple.

Had the same problem, I was 5 salvages short when it rolled over last night. I blame myself, AFAIK it resets at midnight PST. Should have noticed that the price on salvage items had increased by about 50% in a few hours =p

I guess not everything in the world revolves around the USA But yeah since Anet are in Seattle I can understand that assumption. I suppose Anet realise they have a world wide audience and that is unusual by itself.

So you get a headstart on October? Bonus!

For those of you who need a conversion for Greenwhich time for server resets at 00:00 GMT, use this….

Eastern Time (EST): 7:00pm local time (-5 GMT)
Central Time (CST): 6:00pm local time (-6 GMT)
Mountain Time (MST): 5:00pm local time (-7 GMT)
Pacific Time (PST): 4:00pm local time. (-8 GMT)

Kinda what that guy said. I would have thought people would have noticed when their dailies reset. With that knowledge that would easily knew when monthlies reset.

@HellHound good effort, but most places are actually in Daylight time now.

EDT = GMT-4 (still BST-5 tho), and the reset time is 8PM
Once DST ends, reset time will be 7 PM
etc

If in doubt, use something like http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
