How is this possible?
Well, you have obviously played backwards on some of your characters.
This must be what happends to RNG aswell xD
you started playing and a timer kicked in, at 0 hrs the internet explodes

I should really make it a point to play more often, then. :p
It’s not important so I’m not dropping this in the tech support forum, I’m just curious.
You have 1 character. Am I rite?
I’ve had this at the start and been wondering, until I figured that the time spend in char creation counts towards your character’s time, but not the total over all characters.
The first time I noticed it, captured on 2012-9-30:

This is me just now:

I don’t play an alt but have a lv3 mule. I deleted a few characters with the same name on the first day of headstart before settling on this one.
Chronomancer confirmed?
Perhaps if you delete characters it removes their time from your counter.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

I was thinking the same thing, but then I realized that the “across all characters” duration is the sum of the duration on all existing characters, in which case the sum should be at least as much as the duration on the current character.
This really is perplexing…
Unless they’re doing something weird like polling the total duration across all characters at set intervals of time only rather than show it on demand. That would definitely cause a difference to exist. Not sure why they’d do that though :S
