Guild Wars 2

It has been a month and some since HoT was released.

How many character’s elite specs have you unlocked fully so far and what was the motivation (if any) for doing so?
Also any further goals?

Myself, I’ve unlocked fully:
3 Reapers because
1 is a WvW frontline Shout-Soldier Reaper,
1 is a pure condi WvW solo-roam Reaper,
1 is a pure power WvW solo-roam Reaper.

1 Chronomancer because
I wanted to try a back-line well-bomber zerg Chrono

1 Tempest because
I wanted the Tempest Loop shoulder skin

I have two, a daredevil and a herald.
Motivation would be that the thief is my main anyway, so unlocking came naturally. And I tried out a revenant and really liked the play style, so that kinda became my second main.
My other charas I don’t play that often, so they’re taking a backseat on their elite specs.

Unlocked?
All of them, completely.

Actually use?
One of my two warriors uses Berzerker.

One of my two guardians is ready to use Dragonhunter… but hasn’t yet.

One of my two mesmers uses Chronomancer

My necro uses Reaper

I don’t use Druid.

I don’t use Herald.

I don’t use Daredevil.

I do use Tempest.

My engi is ready to use scrapper, but hasn’t yet.

Well… All classes have been unlocked, I guess, and about 75-80% of my (19) characters
and all except 1 or 2 have all asc trinkets and weapons
(not counting underwater weapons and breather(s) though)

I have 2 ele’s both unlocked
1 being a auramancer tempest (part Asc armor)
1 retaining DPS staff ele build (Full Asc)

I have 3 necro’s, 2, maybe 3 unlocked (unsure)
1 being a hybrid reaper (Full Asc)
1 being a support build, not yet sure over the build
1 being a terrormancer

I have 3 warriors, 2 unlocked
1 being PS warrior (part Asc armor)
1 being hybrid S/T & LB berserker ( Full Asc)
1 being a shout heal hammerstun build.

I have 3 2 rangers, 2 unlocked, 1 being a mule atm
1 being a druid or DPS ranger (Full Asc)
1 being a trapper hybrid
1 being mule, not unlocked… (Full exotic)

I have 3 guardians, 2 unlocked
1 being burning guard
1 being heal tank guard
1 being dps healer DH

I have 2 mesmers, 2 unlocked
1 being DPS chrono
1 being hybrid PU

I have 1 thief, unlocked
1 being daredevil S&P/P&P (part Asc armor)
1 levelling towards daredevil

I have 1 engineer, unlocked
1 being scrapper

I have 1 revenant unlocked
1 being zerk herald. (Full Asc)

I’m considering deleting 1 ranger to make a 2nd thief, likely a viper daredevil

All classes except necro which i don’t play.

Actual uses :

Berserker – fractals (full asc/AR)
Druid – PvE/WvW (asc/wvw infusions)
Chronomancer – PvE/PvP (full asc)

Rest is placed in farming locations and i play them when i’m bored.

Motivation :

-wanted a berserker with GS/LB for fractals, works pretty good.

-wanted my ranger as druid for more support, it’s pretty awesome

- wanted a Chrono, well, for all the good reasons. Sinister/condi build, very good survivability, pretty decent damage, and i love condi on chrono.

-rest unlocked (daredevil/tempest/DH/Scrapper/Herald) because i want them all on par with eachother and i used the exp to lvl my masteries anyways.

Favorite char : Druid/Berserker (equally)
Least fav : either Tempest(very squishy build) or Herald (because everyone and their granny plays em)
Most challenging to play : Daredevil

I’ve only unlocked herald, don’t really feel like unlocking anything else.

All classes except Engineer.

Reaper, Druid, Scrapper, and Berserker. I only use Reaper and Berserker, though.

1 tempest I don’t use. No motivation, had points and game bothered me to unlock it.

1 reaper. Pretty much my New main (from ele). Motivation, actually worked towards unlocking this because… Everyone knows reaper. >:)

I want dragonhunter but don’t have the time atm.

I’ve unlocked all of them but have done so a total of 12 times.

Have all 9 classes and unlocked all 9.
Only playing the reaper at the moment, mesmer warrior use to be for wvw, rest have retired to become flax farmers.

Motivation, didn’t want to worry about unlocking skills later if I wanted to jump to something else for a bit, feels good having it out of the way. Also figured it would be easier to unlock them while there were players still regularly on the map.

All except Berserker, Scrapper and Daredevil, though I plan get those unlocked eventually. My Warrior and Engineer are stuck at level 30 as bank mules currently, while my Thief is in the 50s and on the way to grab the staff skin for my Herald. My main used to be a Ranger, so I got all the new pets and unlocked Druid but didn’t take to the elite. So I swapped to Tempest, which was fun until the visual nerfs spoilt it. My Herald’s got the Mistward set completed and I’m really enjoying that one, as it’s almost as invincible as the Druid and deals about as much single target damage as the Tempest, and can support as well. Chronomancer, Dragonhunter and Reaper are also fun to play, and they’re all parked on HoT metas, while my Tempest (with world completion) does the dailies and my Herald charges down Dragon’s Stand to farm pods.

Working on thief, wont do warrior until warrior elite is some what usefull. Have several alts that also need to be done at some point, but will do that when i feel like it.

Fully unlocked? None. Lol.

My main is a Ranger, and I’m not sure I’m into Druid.

Worked on other things, so far.

One. /15chars

Every profession except revenant. Because I felt like it and it gives xp to my masteries.

Daredevil — I feel much more effective as one now than I was as Thief. Still my main for first run of story and for dailies. Bo complete.

Reaper — I love Reaper above all else for HoT map play. Full HoT map exploration on her, and she’s who I use for running meta events. 3 more necros await their turn, including the one I made to duplicate my beta reaper but didn’t get nearly enough HP so she’ll take a while to get into the elite. Dark Harvest complete.

Druid — not yet really played. Yggdrasil complete.

Dragonhunter — not feeling as effective as when he was just a Guardian, but I haven’t practiced much or altered his gear for his new build. Ydalir complete, albeit through some glitch that unlocked the Machined Longbow without me doing the full collection.

Scrapper — very recent unlock, not well geared, I haven’t tried him out in HoT lands yet. Just needs Machined Hammer to complete Fix-r-Upper.

So that’s five, with almost five elite weapons. My next likely one is Chronomancer, then Berserker, then Tempest, just to have one of each. Then perhaps I’ll level a Revenant (once I max my Tyria mastery lines so I don’t resent the XP “waste”), and segue on to Herald. I also have another guardian who just needs a few HoT HP to be a DH, the three other necros mentioned above, and two extra mesmers. Plus a sub-80 ele I might level up and take to Tempest land eventually as well.

I just spend most of my time on my current Reaper, so I’m not pushing the others as much. Though I am of course using her to gather collections for the others; it’s the HP nabbing that slows down the unlocking for alts.

edit: to be clear, I’ve unlocked all but Herald as I’ve no Rev yet. The OP asked about “fully,” so that’s what I answered.

All of them. Well within a week. Because it was the obvious thing to do.

Berserker is rubbish, I’d rather have shouts.

Scrapper is anti-everything. The Eng has always been built for condi, even before condi was beefed up. Scrapper is a power build, so never used it. I’ll have to create a second Engi, cos I’m not mucking about rebuilding the main.

Daredevil – Not used it, cos I don’t really play the thief.

Tempest – ditto. I’m a bit sorry about this, cos I ought to like the Ele more than I do, but you can only play so many classes.

Chrono – Compulsory – If there’s one thing (there isn’t; there’s quite a few things) that annoys me, it’s that Anet built the classes unevenly. I really hate crawling around the world at snail’s pace. Why the hell they gave some classes a permanent speed buff (one way or another) & denied it to others is beyond me. Mes is getting played more now that Chrono is here, but I’m inexpert with it.

Dragonhunter – See above for complaints about lack of speed, but the Gdn makes a good goalkeeper in Stronghold, and that’s where he gets used. Treb & defend. We’ve a decent team in my second guild too.

Reaper – Frankly, it’s OP. Don’t play the Necrokitty much, but this is a doddle. Apart from, oh look, no bloody speed.

Druid – The Ranger is one I play a lot, but mindlessly so. It’s actually a class I don’t like much (I know, that sounds completely daft). Ranger is the WvW mindless zerg alt (maybe you begin to understand…). Druid works. I’m less than stellar though, because the Ranger is geared for Lbow / pwr. Not healing.

Herald – another compulsory elite. Thanks, Anet, for designing this class so well. Speed is only available on the elite spec. The elite spec isn’t available underwater, along with 2 more of the stances. Underwater I get… no choice at all. Assassin & Demon are the only ones I can pick. That was an act of genius. Not. Hey ho. My opinion of the whole Rev thing is that they are very limited in what they CAN do, but overpowered in what they can do. I’ve got two. One is built for Dwarf / power, the other for Centaur / healing. Herald is compulsory on both.

In short, I don’t think Anet did a very good job of designing the Elite spec’s. Too many of them are distinctly overpowered, one way or another, making them compulsory to slot (yes, I’m well aware they’re called “Elite” for a reason). Too many of them go against what might be called the standard class build, which creates trouble… Well, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a main alt (now I need two sets of gear), or whether (like me) you’re a multi-alter (now I need two sets of gear, and with all those alts, that just isn’t going to happen).

My motivation was simple: Most of these specs are fairly obvious power creep, and I liked playing around with them. Currently I’m working on getting the themed ascended weapons for all of them.

Hardest one was the daredevil, because I did that one before the requirements were changed from 400 to 250. Yep, nothing quite like scouring through tangled depths the first time as a zerker thief.

None so far. Too many things in the game to do to concentrate on these. I thought I’d probably get one to max by Christmas but Wintersday. Maybe by the end of January. Either berserker or chronomancer. Maybe.

Unlocked all of them but only maxed Daredevil, Reaper, Herald, Dragon Hunter and Druid. Motivation went by interest in the order I listed them. I haven’t maxed the other 4 yet because I don’t really care as much for those classes and rarely use them in PvE or WvW.

First one was Herald, because who the heck plays Rev without it?

I had some doubts about Tempest and switched back and forth between playing and not playing, until I created my current build. Now I’m not playing without Tempest again.^^

I unlocked scrapper simply because I wanted to give the big shiny wrench (Hammer) to my engi because it compliments her looks well. I’m still trying to build a good condi scrapper hammer dps build. It’s probably impossible though. What a shame…

I also unlocked daredevil because some of the new skins fit my thief’s style really well.

Tempest, because it has been hugely fun to play and has reinvigorated my pve ele

Reaper because it is awesome

Berserker because I main warrior. However I main a tanky/interrupt warrior, so the berserker spec exists because I had the points. My warrior alt will become berserker eventually, but it doesn’t add much to what other alts I have can already do.

Chronomancer. Just started this one. I like the concept so will explore its potential

Daredevil I will also explore, but only just unlocked the first skill

Dragon hunter doesn’t appeal. It’ll unlock as my Guardian gains points, but thats it.

Unlocked, all.

Completed, all.

Playing currently? Herald and Chronomancer.

In the process of finishing the story on all the twinks (13 characters in total) but taking my time. Just getting the chak and auric weapons unlocked first with all of them.

So far I think most elite specs are fun. Some are deeper than others though and I certainly can’t judge anything not guardian, revenant, warrior or mesmer.

I’ve unlocked full elite specs on all of the previous 8 professions and have my rev partially unlocked now.

The reason? I wanted to be able to see the new specs on all my characters and I had the points to do it.

Unlocked 2…. It’s really hard being WvW/PvP focused player. (Daredevil + Reaper WvW)

If elites aren’t acc bound next patch, I’ll be deleting everything but those 2 toons too. Sick of grinding… Go to work and grind just to come home and relax to…. Grind.

Only 15 more characters to unlock Elites on if I continue….
