I have my precursor, lucked out in MF. All I need are the mats and world completion… and it’s going slowly. Only 94 charged lodestones to go!
I’d just sell it. The proceeds of which would go into the bottomless, ravening maw of multiple alts.

I’d probably have 1, with another one in the works for my secondary character.
Because getting a Legendary is so restrictive at this point, I’m just really hesitant on spending a lot of time and money on something that’s soul bound to a character I might not feel like playing anymore.
I think I’d be more interested if: Legendaries were easier to get OR Legendaries were account bound instead of soul bound.
Only need precursor now. I dropped 600g in mystic forge still no precursor;/
I have my precursor, still no legendary for me yet. I just finished my Mastery gift this week, and should have my Fortune gift in a few more weeks depending on how well I do getting my last bunch of ectos.
The charged lodestones are whats holding me back at this point.
I could have made a Bolt, if I’d had the precursor, but I went with Infinite Light instead, see less of those, and it looks cooler in my opinion. And it fits my character more since she’s modeled after Lenneth.
Sell it.
The stupidity of the legendary grind doesnt stop and end with the precursor. There’s still the 77 Mystic Clover RNG, farming Lodestones (I cant even type that with a straight face), and required WvW for world completion.
I probably still wouldn’t yet have one, but I’d kitten sure be working towards it if the precursor wasn’t an issue.
They really should have just handed them out for hitting level 80 or for completing your personal story, or something similar. The process of stacking the mats would keep legendary weapons somewhat exclusive, and while not as exclusive as the current process, they also wouldn’t be tainted with all kinds of stigma.
Not me. My luck with clovers makes it near impossible. 3 out of 30-something singles and half a dozen 10-sets.
Precursor has nothing to do with. The PvP requirement ensures that I’ll never have a legendary. If I can’t make it, it’s not worth it. Too bad that it’s the only true long-term goal the game offers.
Still my biggest criticism of the game: trying to shoehorn PvEers into PvP.
It would fast-forward my schedule by about a year~
I don’t expect to be finished gathering mats until early 2015
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~
Too much hassle and some of the “Legendary” weapons look like stuff from Toys R Us..
- I mean – rainbow unicorns… really ….. so if you want a bow for your ranger you get either rainbow unicorns or flowers…. wow….
I have better things to do with my time than grind the time and effort needed for the relatively low incremental benefit of Legendary
I know that this is a great achievement for many folks – but life is too short to spend it grinding for these things

I am actually working on getting Bolt. I don’t have the pre-cursor yet (Zap), but even if I did, I am a long way from crafting it. The major holdbacks so far is getting 100 charged lodestones (~350g from TP), icy runestones (100g), and a stack of ectos (~100g).
Ectos were cheap a few months back and I should have bought my stack back then. So even if I had the pre-cursor, I easily need 600g in materials and some sunstantial grinding to get the other stuff. I’ll be happy if I can get my precursor this year!

Wrong…there is no benefit. Statistically, they are identical to exotics. “Legendary” is a misnomer, it’s nothing more than an exotic in a fancy skin. You watch…the next set of legendaries released will be ascended legendaries and be even more difficult to get…if that’s possible.
Legendary weapons are no different that dating a supermodel. Lots of work to get, lots of jealously from those around you, when in reality most would probably be happier with the girl next door.

Legendary weapons get buffed to ascended when ascended weapons release.
What you’re looking for are the legendary weapons released alongside the level cap increase. I’m sure they’ll use a whole slew of new mats, and you can be sure every single one will have awesome particle effects.
I’d sell it. With a lot of gold you can get almost any armor and the nice-looking race armors and buy weapons that look far better than the legendaries.
I have a precursor right now and most of what I need to make the legendary. Except, Im tossing up whether to sell the precursor or craft the legendary and sell the legendary. I still need more mats and I need to work out which way I want to go. I don’t really want a legendary for myself, they all look bad IMO anyways. I want to watch the market right now also. Legendary prices are all over the place. I wouldn’t bother crafting it unless I was to get 2500g for one. Otherwise Id like to keep what I want and sell the precursor. But the precursor is still going up in price so maybe I should hold onto it to maximise my profit.

I had never paid much attention to this since I saw “legendaries” as unattainable for me. Now that I look at it I see what you mean …
I see that The Predator rifle hits for 986-1205 vs the 986 to 1025 on my mere exotic rifle – but bizarrely the other stat benefits are pretty much same total – and in fact my Spectral Wave Modulator thingy has better stats for my character build. Each to their own thing I guess

If I got a legendary, I’d be transmuting it, so that there are no rainbows from my shortbow. Knowing that I don’t need a legendary to complete any content currently in the game, I’m not trying to get a legendary. Legendary weapons might get stat increased in… 6 months? a year? /shrug.
When Legendaries get the stat upgrade, will WvWvW debuff them like they buff lower ranked characters?
I have a precursor of a weapon i don’t use now. I’m not selling it. One day I might use it for an alt. (thanks Ancient Karka) I sometimes wonder what I might do with lots of in-game money, I might get, if I were to sell it on the TP… then the moment passes as soon as it begins. (nothing I want to buy currently)
I don’t like farming. And I’m not rich. So the answer will be no. :P
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
since legendaries have same stats as exotics…i would sell it definately.
I like the look of some of the precursor better than their legendary version. If I get one that I really liked, I’m not sure if I can actually make a decision one way or another…
Part 1/2 of a dynamic duo
Selling all that I have to sell, I would have almost 630 gold(have 530 in hands)…Need some clovers, runestones, and some onyx lodes too(twilight). And the precursor, of course. I am a ranger, going for the GS, cause mostly of the legendarys, or look lame, or are too tiny, so no one can see it.
Not me since they look like crap pretty much across the board. “Mystic” weapons look far more legendary.
I have everything except the precursor
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Don’t like any of the looks.
I find the effects annoying when in close proximity to those who like to “show them off” constantly (yes, this is derived from comments from those players.) :p
Most importantly: Now that gold sellers have spammed in-game mail announcing they are the sole source of legendaries, I wonder, did the immature idiot swinging his Twilight around just help promote that blight on the industry?
Legendaries, as of (pick a date ANet!) need to be account bound.
(Should not apply retroactively.)
No, there is nothing ANet could do to anything at this moment that would make me care about legendaries.

How many of you would have a legendary weapon now if you’d get a precrouser right now?
Within the next week due to motivation.
I’d have a legendary if they made some epic questline to go with it after finding a precursor. Wouldn’t mind traveling Tyria just to go through a few minidungeons or difficult quest instances just to power up the weapon. I’d enjoy it more than getting the mats and then making it, that’s for sure.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Nope… I don’t see the fun in collecting ~250 ectos and obby shards to gamble them away for a gift which makes zero sense for a legendary weapon. Or being forced to play Zerg vs. Zerg for FIVE hundred badges. The other gifts are reasonable to get though. But I’d sell the precursor anyway and enjoy the game even more with the gold.

those are easy…500 arah tokens were so nice especially when i hate instances

I think you’ve confused WvW badges with dungeon badges.
Well I have had everything i need for the dreamer for about 2 months. I have been throwing bows in the forge since then and I think a large part of why I am not logging in these days is that about 2 months of throwing gold at the forge sapped the fun out of the game. I know that may seem silly to some, but think about the psychology of it.
If i finish up a day of gaming and spend the 10 or so gold I made that day crafting bows for 1/2 hour and all the gold I made for the day is gone… the feeling of being rewarded or even making progress is non existent. The psychology is so poorly designed that who ever came up with the precursor acquisition method is probably canned.
As long as Legendaries can be bought and sold on the Trading Post, I have no interest. I’m not going to put in all that work to create one when someone who happens to have some extra disposable income can just buy one with real money.
So lame.
It’s not like WoW where you can buy 1k gold for 5 bucks. If someone wanted to buy a couple thousand gold they are going to drop about 800 bucks. That person earned that legendary in my opinion and actually did work for it, literally! Also thanks to those people for supplying Anet with cash so I don’t have to to keep this lovely game going!
I’d sell it. I don’t find the required stuff for crafting legendaries fun to get, nor do I find the legendaries themselves appealing enough to grind for the materials.
