How many of you would have a legendary if....
Quite simply… not me. It will be awhile before a precursor makes a difference for me.
I only need 100 icy runestones and my precursor so I could get it almost right away.
Nope. Unicorn rainbow arrows do nothing for me. Daggers on my Asura would be nigh invisible as would the pistols. I think the pop gun sound would drive me insane after a bit as well.
Zero desire to make a legendary. Precursor = sell for gold.
At many points I would’ve been able to make a legendary if I had had the precursor, but usually I just use my gold in other weapons (like volcanus) and equip my alts with these. I’m at around 1200 hrs now and never had a precursor drop and I won’t buy it or gamble at those prices. I’ll just wait for the scavenger hunt or for one to actually drop then I might go for a legendary.
Retired Until Expansion or Meaningful Content is Released.
Not me, do not find them attractive. Would sell the precursor though.
i already have a legendary, i got the precursor from the TP. If i were to get another one right now, i would definitely go for my next legendary…
I’d sell it. I would then regret selling it but I would still sell it.
Keep it till they make legendary’s fun to get. Until then I will not grind for one, and the flame seeker shield is the only one I would remotely think about, as I have the skins I want already.

I’m Ele soo….
1 Ugly staff
1 Scepter ..meh
1 Focus Cool, EPIC LOOK, but useless skills
1 Daggers → useless since we don’t swing them like other professions. Most of the skills they even completely DISAPPEAR … no effects, no legendary
if it was the one i wanted otherwise i would just sell it.
Ye I don’t have problem with prec I have problem with map completion it’s really hard
I have all gifts for 3 months now. So I will make legendary the moment i acquire it.
nope. if someone handed me a precursor i’d sell it.
the only legend i would consider making is meterologicus but they never bothered to improve the effects so it hardly looks legendary. the moot got an upgrade when it was fugly, but no one cares about scepters.
If I got Bolt, yes, I would work for it. It looks cool enough. I only have the Exploration gifts, but eventually…
The others, I would sell.
How many of you would have a legendary weapon now if you’d get a precrouser right now?
Yes, all I need now is the precursor and my legendary is complete.
“Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats…
Not luck and credit cards.”
I would sell it.
Give me 500 WvW badges though and I would be motivated to do anything for money, buy my precursor, buy the rest of my T6 mats (have a lot of them already) and work my bottom off for a legendary.
That whole WvW thing keeps me from being motivated though. Spent a lot of hours in it. Especially when monthly required it. Out of all of those kills that I did for the monthly got like 2 badges. Got 40 more for doing full WvW explore for my full world explore. Thinking that with my luck 50 kills = 2 badges I just don’t want to go for it.
I would only need the precursor. Yet, I don’t really like the look of the Legendary GS’s, they look like mirrors for some reason. They don’t look solid. So, I’m holing off on making the 3de gift and looking at other options.
Not sure. Having recently gotten map completion I find myself evaluating my next steps for this game. For me, the only options for a legendary that I would consider are the bifrost or Incinerator. However, the material requirements are so high and the gain so little that it seems way more expensive than it’s worth.
The base stats are also somewhat useless for all but a few builds and for my condition damage based necro I would have to transmute the skin on to a carrion exotic to get the stats I want. I also run an Asura, and made her as small as I possibly could. She’s small, even compared to most Asura in the game and barely makes the knee of a full sized Norn. I fear much of the particle effect would be lost at such a size. So the question is whether or not a fancy skin is worth countless hours of mindless grinding.
Personally, I don’t think so, but have been holding on to much of my mats and karma on the off chance I change my mind. If The Legend was to suddenly drop in my lap, would I consider it? I highly doubt it, but probably wouldn’t sell it either. Without any actual stat gain over exotics, it’s nothing more than outrageously expensive status symbol. If there were a proportionate stat gains, as there is between other weapon tiers, that might make lengendaries more appealing to me and make the work more worthwhile.
It amazes me what people will pay for luxury items that give them absolutely no benefit in the game. I just sold an Abyss dye for 22G.
Remember, to call them “legendary” is a misnomer. Stat-wise, they are nothing more than an exotic with a fancy skin. If your whole goal is to look cool, and you have copious amounts of free time, then perhaps a legendary is for you. If you want to play the game and be a powerful as you possibly can, a legendary has absolutely no advantage over an exotic.

I am thinking most would sell for gold. I know I would, I just made my legendary this morning ^__^
been missing just the precursor for a few months now, and fed the forge atleast 1500 gs with no results. Still waiting on a fix
How many of you would have a legendary weapon now if you’d get a precrouser right now?
If I could get precursor right now, I might have legendary a few months from now.. as it is now I might get a precursor a year from now.
Honestly, I don’t really like most of the legendaries, that coupled with all the work it takes to get one turns me off of them completely (mostly the RNG factor). If I were to get a precursor I might just keep the precursor depending on what it was, or just give it to my guild as a contest prize.

Been sitting with 3 gifts in bank for months.
but, whatever, not like anyone is listening to us.
I have my Sunrise already, so Dawn wouldn’t help me much.
Haven’t decided on my 2nd legendary yet.
if i get one, i sell it on TP. Not playing gw2 to farm mats for hundreds of hours half braindead and 100% map deserted zones where you see 1 person per 1:30h.
Not a fan of big flashy glowy smoky sparkling type weapons…No legendarys for me,even if they were in my reach i just think most dont look that good tbh.
I would sell it Legenaries are not a realistic goal for a super-casual-farming-hating player like me.
As long as Legendaries can be bought and sold on the Trading Post, I have no interest. I’m not going to put in all that work to create one when someone who happens to have some extra disposable income can just buy one with real money.
When I see someone with a Legendary, I don’t think “wow, what a dedicated player.” I wonder if they bought theirs. And if they didn’t, I feel bad for them because they put in the work, and others just bought them.
So lame.

For my thief (and soon my mesmer) I’d be happy with just precursors – or even just cool level 80 exotics that fit the builds I’m running. I’ll craft the exotics – if I get the mats I need… still working on a full set of exotic armor for my thief… hello gossamer… I know you’re out there… somewhere…
But there’s no way in <insert your favorite scary afterlife zone here> I’ll ever jump through all the hoops necessary for a legendary. It’s not my idea of a good time.

If there was a way to reasonably get The Dreamer, yes I want to shoot rainbows and unicorns, I would definitely get it.
I originally planned on doing so, then after reading up on it, and checking some stuff out, it is obviously an impossible goal.
Sad really. I did expect to work for it for a while, but I didn’t expect all the RNG, HUGE amounts of gold and everything else.
That was really my only goal so far. Now I basically have nothing to work for.

EXACTLY. I think this same thing every time too. We just had a guy in our guild that got his the legit way, and another behind him about to get his, and made me super proud of them, but how many people will recognize the hard work they put into it other than those of us in the guild that saw it firsthand? In fact when we threw a party for them in LA, had more than a few people come up and make snide remarks about “why did it take so long, should have just bought it…” made me want to slap them.

I’d have more urge to work on getting the rest of my stuff for Legendary. At the moment I’m just collecting the stuff as an afterthought.
But at this point with Legendaries being on the Trading Post, I might as well just save entirely for the Legendary itself; which is a total buzzkill.

They don’t want to talk to us (so much for improved communication) and it’s not like they give a toss about anything their paying customers want, let alone something that has the majority of interest and the smallest supply/biggest demand ratio.
Are you listening Anet? It’s not good enough.

I’m still working on the basic gifts, so even if I got a precursor right now I wouldn’t have a legendary tomorrow. I’d probably sell it for enough money to buy the precursor I want, unless it was the exact right one.
They should really do something abouot precursors.
Like sell them from a vendor or something for a price worth 2-3 months worth of dailies.
I’d sell it to some “sucker” who wants to put in the time grinding for all the materials/achievements so they can have something that “looks cool” but is no better than an exotic. One born every minute . . .
Acrobatics trait line. Then sell it back
to them for $50. Brilliant! – ghost of P.T. Barnum

Some things actually do look cool enough to grind.
Bolt for example. Just a shame that elementalists can’t use swords.

I see legendaries pretty often. Often enough that I’ve stopped grabbing screen captures of flying unicorns and the like. So there are a lot out there. If you want to buy one off the TP, it will set you back the better part of 2000 gold. 100 gems will, on a good day, get you 1g while setting you back US$1.25. This places a legendary at approximtely $2500.
This is a sum of money that goes well beyond “some extra disposable income.”
- It is my monthly mortgage payment.
- It is 40% of the cost of a home near my wife’s hometown.
- It is 2 months of daycare.
- It is my annual electric bill
- It is your pay for working 11-hour days for a full month (7 days/week) at minimum wage with no overtime or taxes or other witholdings/bonuses.
- It is the cost of a used car.
I’m sure people out there have this much money to spare. Most, however, do not. So, given the number of legendaries I’ve seen and the number of people that can spare this much money, I think it is a pretty safe bet that anyone that has a legendary has earned it.
As for me, I have a long way to go on mine, yet. I’m maybe 15% of the way there.

True, it’s not pocket change. And true, there are no doubt some people who can (and have) afford this. So the possibility of buying a legendary with real money exists. Which takes away from the ingame achievement of crafting a Legendary. Because whenever I see one, I have to wonder.
All players, because of this, are not on a level playing field. Just like in real-life, those with more money can have more of what they want.
But I don’t play a fantasy game because I want it to be like real life…
Precursor = sell. I don’t really care much for most aesthetics. Especially aesthetics that cost 1600 gold worth of time/effort.
I’d sell a precursor in a heartbeat, buy abyss and celestial dye, buy an extra set of exotic gear, then go back to WvW.
I’d take breaks in between to rage at ANet for gear creeping with ascended bullkitten in WvW. Then I’d outline what I would do with the rest of my newfound $ until more ascended gear is released and I quit the game.
I have had [Rage] for 2 months. I am not close due to cost in crafting it outright.
Yes, I am going for the Speargun Legendary. It is equipped. I will craft [Frenzy] someday.
I am a Hardcore WvW player, Casual PvE player.

Lemme get this straight, you have this bit of a disdain for people being able/buying legendaries on TP, yet you also feel sad for people who DON’T buy their legendary on the TP? Seems like Dan the downer to me…
i’m just waiting for The Lover to drop and that since New Year’s Eve.
2 Months and Anet didn’t react at all
i have slowed on my materials collections and gifts. i got very lucky, and got 10 clovers from the 10x recipe on my no MF% Ranger, after trying on my 25% guardian and 15% Ele. i am currently at 76/77 clovers. i still need 245 ARAH shards, 250 ectos, and 139 Elaborate totems to complete the necessary gifts.
if i received a precursor weapon TODAY, i would finally give in, purchase 5,000 gems with RL $$$, purchase the rest of the needed materials, get the shards via path 3, and complete The Bifrost. i would then leave my current guild, as it is pretty dead now, and continue playing Guild Tag-less.
of course, with a Commander Title AND a Legendary equipped, i have to prepare for the relentless player harassment that will eventually follow.
