How modifiable is Guild Wars 2?
will probably get you banned. i don’t think there’s anything you can safely mod in gw2 since texmod is not working.
My guess would be not possible. Anet doesn’t seem to like people modding GW2 reasons that are their own. As an alternative, play your own sound track in the background, and turn off GW2 music. Not perfect, but it’s an option.

you can change all the music in game

So…..turning down the in-game music and running your own media player isn’t something you have considered?
Most online games are going to NOT be modifiable for many reasons.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
The game does allow for custom soundtracks through the use of the folder the game creates in your Documents folder (or equivalent for Macs). More info can be found here:

[EDIT] Yeeeeeaaaah, ninja’d.
The most off-putting thing about the idea is that everything is already compacted into a single file. However, I really just had the urge to change the music in the game. Possible, not possible, or just really complicated?
Custom play list:

Edit: everyone spammed the answer around the same time
Changing the music is very easy. I just wish we could have more specific playlists, like Ascalon Combat and Maguuma Nighttime
I’m sure the actual game playlists are doing this, because there is different music in different regions but you can’t do that with the custom playlist

Actually being able to customize the GW2 playlist is much better because you can set the kind of music you want for each situation. You are able to customize the playlist so maybe you should do some research before giving out false information.
For example, you can have some soothing ambient music while exploring and then some intense music for boss fights. They even allow you to set the music you want for when you die which is great.
Things you can change:
Ambient
Battle
BossBattle
City
Crafting
Defeated
MainMenu
NightTime
Underwater

He wasn’t, really. Most online games aren’t modifiable, the custom playlist feature in GW2 being one of a few exceptions.
The reason I didn’t want to play my own soundtrack in the background is because I actually want certain songs to play at certain times, like in the town, exploring, or fighting. The customized soundtracks links sound like exactly what I was looking to find! Thank you all!
OMG!!! I was totally not aware of this!!! This….is…..AWESOME!!! I’m totaly going to check it out tonight!!

How do I change the music when losing money on the TP?
:D
Hello to my Castlevania music!
Bloody Tears FTW!
Lady Alexis Hawk – Main – Necromancer
Ravion Hawk – Warrior
I swear after beating a LS chapter, or a world boss there is a 10-20 second victory music, but that is not in the list to be modified, can it still be? I want to replace it with this:

(mostly for world boss purposes)
Sythern the Warlock: Human Necromancer| Lithia the Shadow: Human Theif
Lumata: Asura Mesmer|Arion of HonorHall: Human Guardian |Abigail the Tamer: Norn Hunter
Be aware that if you change the battle music to a custom one, you will be unable to hear the new boss tracks that come with Living World updates like the marionette or the breachmaker. Its been something i have been nagging Anet about on the forums for a time, to make the LW music a separate folder…
Other than that, getting your favorite musics into the game is great.
Personally I think GW2 soundtrack is so awesome I wouldn’t even consider replacing it with my own choices, but I can understand some people want choice.
BossBattle has to be this:

Wait, I have ALL the 8-bit GW2 music from the original launch of SAB!
Lady Alexis Hawk – Main – Necromancer
Ravion Hawk – Warrior
Its actually quite amusing how much people dont even know about this. ^^
Any MMO or game that has the music files not hard coded or in a very hard to open Compressed file it can be changed to what you see fit.
RO, PSO 1, THIS, all had their soundtracks on your end, yet most you had to make your file exactly the same name (size and length doesn’t matter) as the file in question (RO) or know how to mess with .ogg files (PSO 1) and then name the same as the original file being replaced. Its was hard work and not worth it.
GW 2 really has the best way and methods so far of any MMO I played to have custom sound and music added.
You can make a custom playlist for GW2, however my experience with that has mostly been negative as the volume is always too low or too loud.

the only song to use for the “defeat” slot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgn1eHG_lr8
I played around with this a few months ago. It’s a really cool idea, but when it does work, it doesn’t work particularly well (with the exception of Battle and Boss Battle, they were pretty awesome) and half of it just doesn’t work at all. Crafting and Defeated playlists for example.
The only stuff you can modify with GW2 at the moment, is the soundtrack and textures.
Soundtrack is already covered in several posts here already, but for texture modding, you can use UMod. It works just like TexMod did for GW1, though a bit more advanced.
Only downside to it at the moment, is the newest version, while it works, it lags up your game really bad. But the old version causes no lag, but for some reason applies your custom texture to everything, not just your character.
So it’s a nice thing to use if you want to do some simple texture editing for screenshots, but not something you would play with all the time as it causes your fps to drop severely.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]

It works very consistently for me. The one and only exception is crafting>
What are you having issues with? City playlists very from city to city, for example. In (formerly) Lion’s Arch, ambient plays in most parts of the city, as it was an outdoor type city. Divinity’s Reach though, being more city-ish, distinctly, always used City playlist.
Defeated has always worked for me since they added it. No issues there except that when you waypoint, it starts playing the first few seconds of another track as you WP and load before fading back to whatever (usually ambient).
But for me, Ambient, Battle, BossBattle, City, Defeated, MainMenu, NightTime, all work just fine and consistently. Yes, I use all of those. I don’t use Underwater so I can’t tell you about that one.
