How much Gold do you have?
About 48 between in hand and investments.
Used all my gold crafting, and buying cultural gear. =)
I just hit 80, so ask me in another month.
2 gold between 2 characters. one level 45, the other 54
Just under 5 Gold level 46 Charr Warrior.
I find it very hard to make any money, any tips on getting gold? I currently make my gold by selling all the materials i gather on the TP, some i just sell to vendors as i can make more money that way.
now I have about 3g 50s after buying a couple of exotic weapons
About 10g or so, but I’m not really trying to accumulate any.
20g full set exotics.
What this game has gold?
Just playing, but as someone playing 4 toons at once an tryin to level all 8 crafting professions at once…. Yeah I’m broke as hell.
About 40c (really), rest is tied up in various TP investments :P
this thread is going to be a magnet for account hackers.
You should just ask how much Gold per hour people can make.
that said, if you play the game till 80, you will end up with roughly 10++G even after repairs and waypoints.
If you gather along the way til 80 and use none of those material, you can sell it all in TP at current prices for roughly 15-18G.
Never more than 21g in cash at any point in time. I always seems to spend them before it reach the point. I only earn about 1-2g per day.
I have a guild member that literally does nothing all day but farms for items for the Mystic Forge in order to get and sell ectoplasms. Last I heard, she had about 81 gold. She’s waiting for ectoplasm prices to go back up before selling the rest of her stockpile.
She’s a bit obsessive, though.
Personally, I have something like 1g 50s between all of my characters. I have 8 characters, though, and I’m leveling each of them 10 levels at a time, with my highest being just over 30. Soooo, definitely not the best method to make money, but I’m enjoying myself.
Goal: To have one character of every race, gender, and armor class combination at level 80.
Current progress: Human 4/6 | Charr 1/6 | Norn 1/6 | Sylvari 1/6 | Asura 1/6 | Total: 8/30
about 5 gold left … used a bunch on crafting and exotic armor.
85g, but placed a bid for Dawn so hopefully 0 by tomorow
no gold. just silvers.
i’m poor. spent all silvers on gems.
somewhere around 5g between 4 characters (level 2, level 9, level 50 and level 80)
but then again, i haven’t really tried to make money.
50 silver life (or i should say death) ain’t cheap for an elementalist.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
I did have 22g but purchased a load of cultural armour I’m down to 5g again.
~20g, full set of exotics, haven’t done anything exploitive or cheesey that I’m aware of, have flushed ~5g on undiscovered dyes in the last week – it’s an addiction.
I gather like crazy and brutalize mobs for rare mats in order to make small profits crafting select items, which beyond just doing large scale events and vendoring is about the best thing I’ve come up with that isn’t cheesey or exploitive.
What bothers me is that a lot of players seem to get rich abusing questionable game design, bugs, or flat out exploits and only the most blatant of them seem to get smited for it.
I really don’t think ANet has a firm grasp or grip on this game right now. It’s like a runaway train.
About 5g between my 80 and my 50. I don’t really hold on to my gold… I bought Order Gear, and a character slot, and I craft for funsies, not profit.
69 silver….
I am completely broke- I think the most I’ve had in this game is 1g.
It is my own fault however, since I have a weakness for dyes and I love crafting.
Since I have all the crafting professions spread over all my characters I can’t really sell mats on the TP.
I developed a bad habit of buying the mats I need at 3 in the morning because I just have to get to the next tier… no sleep= bad financial decisions.
I don’t mind though, it is my choice and I am enjoying myself
I’m always right around 30g I know if I farm instances again it will go up. But I just do the occasional run.
Around 5 gold and 19 globs not bad for me since i am a casual player. Saving my globs for high level crafting…
The most I’ve got is 10G 0S 99C but as of last night, I’ve got only 30+ Silver. Crafting! I don’t want to talk about it.

Let me guess, Reddit guide?
I have a shiny gold coin.
Its getting harder and harder to make gold every day because broker prices keep droping. I am getting to the point of frustration, most prices on the broker are half of what they were 2 weeks ago!
2G? I blame pvp.
Right now, I have about 3.5 gold, but I usually spend it as I make it. I’ve spent more than 15 gold gearing up, and I’m only about half in exotics, so I’ve got a bit to go yet.
I’ve also spent a bunch on crafting- not on buying mats on the TP, I haven’t really spent much on that. I’ve spent quite a lot on needed vendor mats (threads and so on). The biggest expense by far though has been not selling the mats I used to raise crafting.
I’ve got about 1.5g at the moment, but I’ve bought quite a bit of stuff I regret…half of the T2 cultural set for one…
I’m a level 80. At no point have I not had enough gold. Current bank – 8G
About 1.5 but I’ve probably spent a couple gold on siege equipment in WvW.
Not really trying to do anything to earn or save gold either.
SOS Spy Team Commander [SPY]
About 3 gold total between 5 toons.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
4.5g across two characters.
2 gold currently at level 80 due to insane gold sinks such as 10 silver per armor repair and 3 silver per waypoint teleport. Only 2 exotic gear pieces (one of them being purchased for 42k karma)
I agree with someone that said how are you making soo much money. I heard people saying making 80g+ is really easy. Now for the person that said if you didn’t sell any materials when you went from 1-80 you “should” make around 15-18g. Now I did just that and made at most 12g mind you this was when TP was “fix” to where everyone was able to use it.
I agree with AlienMagi most of mine and a bunch of other people have said most of their gold goes towards repairs, waypoints, and salvage kits.
Has anyone else notice that the prices of materials has gone down a bit? Some of the materials I use to farm for are starting not to be worth farming for anymore.
Zero. Say hello to my new vigil set
3rd Flora Artillery Unit
I’ve bought a partial exotic set (and the rest rares), and I spend an inordinate amount of time RPing, so I’m sitting on 4.5g right now.
Main lvl 52 and 2g 50s it stays in the silver range though as everything sells for either slightly over 1s or below
5g
I spent a couple gold on playing the TP… ended up losing money, still haven’t found my niche.
I do have 3.5 crafts mastered and full exotic armor/runes and full exotic jewelry.
I also have some rare mats, but not a ton. About 100 dyes as well.
One.
I have one gold.
For those asking how to make gold, I have about 50 now between what I have on hand and some investments. The key part is the last part, it is going to be a long hard road if you think you’re going to make a lot of money selling your blues and greens. As many people have found out they’re not worth much on the TP, partially because of poor undercutting but largely because they are abundant. Same goes for practically all rare weapons. What you need to grasp is the concept of taking a loss now for possibly higher gains later. Ways to do that is leveraging your crafting disciplines, making a decision on whether to salvage or not and how much are you willing to spend at the possibility of doubling, tripling or quadrupling that investment.
Not long ago, you could make a small fortune on Superior Runes of the Pirate, for obvious reasons, people wanted them and were willing to pay for them. The materials to make them were cheap, you could quite literally buy a Platinum Doubloon and two Gossamer Scraps to make a Superior Rune of the Pirate and have anywhere from 10-15s in pure profit. Not so much now, however they still sell for 40-45s you just need the Doubloons which are somewhat abundant. Abundant enough that it’s worth trying for. This is what I mean by leveraging your crafting.
For Jewelcrafters, your biggest hurdle is Globs of Ectoplasm, however some Exotic accessories sell quite well, in the 2-3g range. Start salvaging your rares for ecto’s when it makes sense to do so. Use either the Black Lion Salvage kit, or a Mystic Salvage Kit or the Master’s Salvage Kit on Level 68+ rares for a chance at 0-4 Ectos. The caveat here is you need to know what that Rare is going for. If it’s going for more than 30s, preferably 40s or more, try and TP it. If it sells you’ve made enough in profit to get at least 1-2 Ectos. If it’s anything below that in the 20s range. Salvage it. You might get burned with nothing but Mithril or some Silk in return, maybe the cheap major sigil on it, but you could luck out. Start turning those into Exotic accessories and you’ll be rolling in gold. This works for non JC’s too, just a bit less dramatic, but Ecto’s are almost a guaranteed sell. So if the math works out and with a bit of luck, you should be getting a higher ratio of Ecto’s from each rare. Is it going to work overnight? Not likely, but a week, couple weeks, you’ll be looking at returns of 3-5g from the TP, well on your way to maybe stepping it up a bit.
I and others prefer to make it by literally gambling on the Mystic Forge. Between trying to trade up cheap Rare Dyes for better Rare Dyes can turn 40s into 2-3g pretty fast if you get lucky. It’s all about how much you’re willing to risk. I have no qualms with dropping 2-3g on cheaper materials on the Trading Post in large quantities and literally transmuting it in the forge into gold. Doesn’t always work, but if you stick with it and don’t act cheap about it (ie. don’t buy 20…buy 200) you’ll find that generally you’re making profit. It’s enough of a return that I feel lucky enough to try buying rare weapons and armor directly and trying to reforge it into Exotics. Because a 1-1.5g gamble can pay off big time.
I do these things every day and have yet to end a day lower than when I started, it’s almost always break even or profits. Don’t get discouraged though if you do go down, you can always build it back up again with Ectos etc.
one main at 80, have trouble keeping 2g with travel and repairs, the cost of day to day stuff is to high.
I’m on 62 gold, just spent around 20 gold on random crap aswell.
I had close to 40(~35 main, ~5 alt)…got hacked and now I have 1(thanks to a kind soul who sent it to me so I can afford waypoints/repairs now).
ha! I just made what I consider a killing!
I lvld up my next crafting tier with a profit! I am so happy
