I saw this topic gaining momentum on GuildWars2Guru forums, and seeing as i can’t see a similar discussion taking place here, i thought what’s the harm but to create one regarding such.

I haven’t farmed yet so i can’t weigh in. I’ve been busy completing the high levels maps for each of my five characters hoping i’d get lucky, however truthfully i think i have only netted about a gold and a half per map, and only once gotten two items worth two or so gold each. I also didn’t think averaging a gold an hour was possible, but it would seem as if people are, and then some…

I average a little under a gold per hour just playing and vendering stuff indiscriminately not including mats with any toon over lvl 50. I’d say a gold per hour would be an easy target with an actual focus on trying to make money.

Today in around 1 hour at least 10 gold – did the grenth rune a couple of times (failed/failed/success) and got lucky with a drop or 2 (black dye/rares – converted to ectos). Without lucky drops like that i usally make around 2g an hour easy – i don’t farm a lot and just stick to a single plinx/grenth run a day and that’s it – any silver/gold after that from usual playing, WvWvW, roaming around to complete zones is just a bonus.

I used to think getting gold was hard, but with a group and a decent run from start to finish on those 2 chains and well, it’s easy money.

Zilori: Guardian – Desolation.

Maybe 50 sil an hour in Cursed Shore if I am lucky, but I am not since I can’t tag anything before it all dies while doing events. Usually its all dead while all I see on the screen is ‘invunerable’. I even play an ele which everyone says is the best tagger…no, the best taggers are melee who simply just spam 1 and 2 without even having to target; instant, 360 large dmg AoE that is spammable. My AoEs generally take 6 or more seconds to even begin and on long CDs.

sounds like you aren’t in a group. Make sure you are grouped with 4 other people if you want to get credit in large events. Also learn where the spawns originate from and when they spawn, it helps to know exactly when to start attacking. Once you do the event 200-300 times you should have it down to a science like many of the farmers there.

Nah, I don’t bother with events no more. I go find a quiet corner not infested with bots (hard to find!) and kill 5-10 mobs at once by myself. Might not be as profitable but it is much more enjoyable than helping people who are using full MF set and leeching off players who are not wearing that type of gear.

Hoping they send gem cards to canada one these years, then I will simply pay RL money and get gold that way.
