Everyday, I hear people saying, “I make so-and-so amount of gold a day, and it’s easy!” People say they make 50g a day, and simply put, I don’t know how they do it. I play the TP, do a few dungeons, participate in some WvW, and I usually end up with around 10-15g.

So my question is, how much gold do you make in a day, and how do you make it?

some people play 1 hour or 12 hours a day. So that could vary very much.

I can make 50g a day if I farm for 8 hours. I’m sure most people can too.

Nowaday I make maybe 5 gold playing normally.

It reminds me of when I played Ultima Online and I used to be really confused when people would say you could max a skill in a day if you went to the right spot. I couldn’t understand it because in the hour a day I was allowed to play (I was 12) I’d barely make any progress.

Then I found out that when they said ‘in a day’ they literally meant an entire day of doing nothing but that.

It’s the same with getting gold in this game. There isn’t some special method that will make you 50g in a couple of hours (except TP flipping or a lucky drop) but there are people who spend enough time per day to make 50g with their chosen method.

Depending on what I do when I’m on, I can normal make up to 10 gold from doing AC all paths. Some days I’m lucky if I make a gold if I’m just leveling an Alt. Some days I don’t make any gold as I spend it all lol.

But what I tend to do is every few months I empty my mat storage and I normally make around the 90-100 gold mark. I don’t get to play all that much so farming is out of the question for me.

Anywhere from 5 to about 20ish gold per day. Depends how many harvesting runs and world bosses I hit. Not the fastest way of making gold at all, but it’s enough to fund my ascended crafting and maintain my sanity.

I would say that 5g is an average. Maybe that applies to most players, maybe it doesn’t, but I can normally count on that average over the period of one week.

That’s why gold per hour is a little better way to communicate the concept.

If FGS champ farming – ~2-3 G/hr
If FGS trash mob farming – ~3-5G/hr
If level 55-70 region trash mob farming – ~2-5G/hr
If running various non-world boss events – ~1-2G/hr (varies wildly with which region)
If running around primarily harvesting and mining – ~1-2 G/hr (I think – it gets so boring, I don’t think I’ve ever done a sustained hour of just harvesting and mining).

I don’t often run Orr champ/event train; but when I have, it’s been ~1-3 G/hr

I make plenty purely through merchanting. Playing the game normally is one of the worst ways to make gold because of the sheer slaughter of income. Right down to the drops in the pavilion being taken away.

Hm .. do you sell all stuff at the TP ? 10 T6 fangs/blood/claws is already over 4g and in an hour i normally get more than 10, so i would say its 5-8 g/h for FGS trash mobs.

Mining and harvesting .. i can make maybe 6-10g/h .. however having 13 80s helps alot with that

I only run dungeons, if i go on a full tour it would net me at least 25g+.
some of the days i take it easy and make 10-15g-ish from easy paths.

Zero/day unless I get a decent drop I want to sell. Probably one gold over the course of a week. All I do is level characters, which isn’t particularly efficient for a quick addition to the bank balance.

Not all – I usually bank a small amount (say 1 or 2 of each?) and sell the rest. That way I can maintain some for either crafting OR to quick sell if market price spikes.

I only discovered my current farming pattern for farming this past week, so branching out for other mob types to see if they need to be added (ex: finding out polar bears and dredge are a waste of time) is also eating up some time.

I have 4 playable characters, but I don’t use but maybe two in a single day – like I said, that got REALLY boring for me.

Edit: Oh, and I only found decent claw drops last night – prior to that, it was fangs, scales, and the occasional couple of bloods.

edit for my response: I usually get around 1g per day (my day is normally 3 hours cut in half), but lately is because i’m just in the pvp side of the game.
you don’t really get too much to sell with the pvp-reward paths.

I dunno his/her pattern, but upper-middle is where the market’s sweeter. Too high, and the rarity slows you down; too low and the sell price is too low. get in that tier 4 and tier 5 range and availability is high, your sales move quickly, and at a decent price.

I jump around to lots of maps, mainly aiming for iron and platinum (copper too, until it goes back down in price).

I make about 5g a day doing dailies. However, because gem→gold trading I can get about 380g in a month just by managing my personal finances.

Merching is the best way and the way I’ve made a lot of my gold once I got started with precursor drops. Made about 85k in about 2-3 months off of ghastly shields/wind and sun catchers and other various items. That was most I have really made in a couple merches. I’ve made about 15-20k other than off those items, just other rare skins

I make 12g/hr farming, or 9g/hr dungeon running, or 8g/hr in EoTM.

I generally only play 1-2 hours a day though so I’m still pretty poor. And no I won’t tell you my spots or methods because I like them unnerfed.

For the 18 gold in 80 minutes you must maybe farm Ori in Orr, but i hate that area and never was good at training through mobs so i already avoided that before mega-server.

No way I could get that much that fast if I payed any attention to orichalcum/ancient wood (unless someone had previously mapped it out for me). It’s all about hitting places where lots of nodes tend to spawn close together and aiming for iron, plat, gold and copper (until it’s worthless again).

One of the things to help keep things as fast as possible is to do it on a warrior running GS and sw/wh and keep swiftness up 100% of the time. I notice that when running on my guardian/engineer that even with perm swiftness they still end up doing the same run slower, or I just get less stuff because they take too long to get there and makes stuff like that one rich silver node at the edge of the minimap just not worth getting.

I’m lucky if I make 1 gold a day. hee hee. I don’t champ farm, play the TP nor do dungeon runs. I just do dailies and work on my map completion. I don’t mind being poor. I’m fine in my exotics and have no desire for a legendary, which is probably a good thing since I’ve never received a precursor drop. I enjoy just fooling around in PvE.

Or is it that you just found a precurser and put that on top of that for the current month ?

Doesn’t rly matter what dungeons you run, aside from a few (SE p2, TA aether) they’re all pretty quick. Aside from the obvious gold reward at the end of the dungeon, I sell all t6 mats, salvage inscriptions from dungeon gear and have some nice dungeon recipes (plague, bloodstone fragment).

While I sincerely doubt it makes much of a difference, I have magic find over 200.

I usually don’t do that one because as I said, I find the rewards lacking for the time spent. Yes you have a chance of dropping a pricey skin, but I’ve yet to see that drop for anyone so I’m not going to rely on RnG.

As for how many paths per hour, I’d say 5 on average. Unless we’re doing arah, a full casual run there takes about an hour and 15min. And we usually do fairly casual runs you know, I hate being rushed.

wooot? 12g in a night…so i guess about 6hours of playtime ? to get that much gold you must have a huge zerg yourself and the other servers also a huge one AND winning every zergfights for the heavy bags + trashloot for salvage and never spend more then 10min at a tower to get it for the champ bag ? thats sure not a normal day in wvw imo, maybe a friday where huge karmatrain zergs run around and never defend anything and when they clash they drop much much looot

I had assumed EOTM when I read it.

Doing normal PvE I usually make about 2-3 gold an evening. If I go into WvW I used to loose that amount through building upgrades, but I have cut back on that recently.

I can sometimes make about 4-10 gold in a gathering run. I’ve never seen more than 10 in a 2-3 hour time period except when I first started the game.

For those first two months I got exotics from chests i found, rares from veterans, and I got tons of those unidentified dyes.

I sold ectos and those dyes and made decent but since they implemented DR and made the system restrict only the PVE open world drops compared to what you get in dungeons/eotm it’s never been the same. So much for play how you like.

10-15 gold a day putting in about a half hour work TP trading. Another 5-10 gold a day playing the game for an hour or two depending on drops and such. But I don’t play or trade every day.

Since I do not make regular purchases and I’ve fairly comfortable funds, I just play whatever content appealing to me at any given moment without worrying about if it’s profitable or not. I probably get an average of 1 gold/hour or so this way (without including materials, which I usually never sell).
On top of that, I tend to invest some money on long-run speculation which ends up producing an unpredictable (but almost surely above 100g / month) profit, which I use for some skin acquisition or gem purchase.
When I make several of these purchases on a short time, I tend to focus on getting some gold back for a few days, playing more profitable (but still enjoyable and not horribly grindy) content like dungeons and/or selling the materials I get for way higher revenue (4+ gold/hour)
If I would want to focus my gameplay totally on getting gold, I guess I could solo AC3 over and over and sell the slots for 15+ gold/hour.
In the end, it’s all about how much a player want to devote himself to farming.

I do Dungeons on my days off. The raw profits are about 20 gold… with another 20-30 from all the loot I sell in the TP. (More if you find charged cores or exotics)

If you run AC all paths, CM all paths, TA Up and forward, SE 1 3, COF 1 2, HOTW 1 (others optional), and COE all paths.. that will net you a ton of money right there with little difficulty.

It usually takes 4.5 to 6 hours to do it if you have a decent group. And of course.. less than that if you have an actual speedrun group

You can make 35-40 gold in just approximately 3 hours with a really efficient party in dungeons. The unfortunate thing though is that it’s hard to create that one efficient group.

I know how to make 30g per hour, purely solo activity that you can do anytime you want but its utterly boring, tedious and involves 1,000’s of mouse clicks…I usually can’t be bothered and prefer to do something I enjoy which barely makes 1g a hour.

Typically I only play an hour or two a day, except on weekends. Weekends range from 4 to 10 hours each day depending on what else I have going. (Like this weekend, I had to replace the passenger drive axle in my car, and then we put a hitch receiver on the suv and ran it’s wiring, took a significant chunk of my Saturday) I might make a gold or two each weeknight, depending on what I’m doing. I make a few more on the weekends since I do some dungeons and such. I think I made 5g yesterday in as many hours of play running around eotm. I’d probably make more if I sold more of the stuff I get, but typically I tend to save the majority of my mats for personal use.

Playing TP? Is that a thing? Are you people economists? Is it like a mini-game, where the endgame is GOLD!? Just wondering.

I kill stuff when I walk around, I do world bosses, merch everything, sell rares and funny mats on TP.

Altho, there was this one time where I was playing for like 4 hours and not even paying attention to kitten, somehow I went from 15 gold to 106 gold… I think I did some dungeons, sold a bunch or rares, but still they’re like 29-55 silver a piece on selltolowest.

But who cares! I bought t3 Human armor.

I’m a poor man, mostly because I simply don’t feel like putting in the effort. Also I salvage all my rares (I have a lot of ectos), bank most of the mats. So I’m probably worth more than I think if I liquidated a bit.

For a while I’d run CoF path 1 and 2, so that would come in at 3 gold or so, AC path 1 and 3 and that would be another 4 gold. This was enough to buy mats for my daily ascended items. If I had enough time the champ train in EoTM could also provide a few gold, but it’s not really all that profitable (you’d still make a few gold).

Unfortunately dungeons and EoTM train get’s boring very very quickly.

Yes everyone who doesn’t make 6000 $ a month is lazy kittens o.o Low income = Lazy Logic!
A lot of people earning 2/10 of what you do is probably working a lot harder for their money than you do (have no idea how hard you work, but not important).
Not everyone have money to spare to buy gems, even though they go to work everyday. Maybe that is why they bought a b2p mmo.

If people want to farm, let them farm

If you sell Arah you can make around 24g/h

so basically, the higher the skill required of the content you do, the more gold you make – so selling arah or putting in the time and research to flip the TP.

What they really meant was you could max any skill with an EasyUO script that you left going over night. I ran a guild of 400ish people there for 6 years and I never knew one player who didn’t eventually leave a script going over night casting invisibility on themselves for mage gains. EA just didn’t care, so it became a standard thing like DBM for WoW.

Money to gem to gold is the most time effective way to get gold (depends on how many extra money you want to spend on this hobby). TP is the best way to make gold. Dungeon and wvw is a more casual way to make gold. Just depends on how much gold you want for your characters. Do not needed more than 150g a week to get everything you would want within a reasonable amount of time.

Play the game is to have fun. Grinding isn’t fun. Then kittening bout having less gold isn’t fun. Get kitten kicking in Wvw isn’t fun. Why not be a real man go out find a job and spend some money on this hobby? why not since gw2 is the best mmo to date.

2-8g per day just depends, I had a goal of 1000g in my bank and it took me almost 8 months to achieve my goal even while starting my personal guild and buying influence, now-a-days I just casually play whatever I want (mostly WvW) I stay around 1020-1050g in the bank and want for nothing I can’t buy with in-game gold I’ve earned, of course I don’t have a Legendary and very little Ascended items other than trinkets but I seem to be able to play any content I want without the high dollar items.

On that note and off topic I did get my first Ascended drop (ring) over the weekend in EotM, it was quite a shock, and I’d guess that was all of my good luck being used up for the rest of the time playing GW2, maybe the RNG gods had fathers day off?
