How much have you spent on Gems?
I’d like to know how much people have spent on buying Gems.
Any idea/guess on how much in total?I believe I’ve spent quite alot myself
I bought gems for a character slot once.
Everything else was gold→ gems
Your not saying how much you spent but want to know what others have spent?
I’ve bought maybe 1600 gems, and that’s all I will ever buy. The instrument I got kittened me off with its horrible lag, and the cosmetic system in this game is way too annoying to ever buy another armor set. I’ve taken my money to another game. I may buy the expansion, but no more gems.
Since release, I would estimate I have spent $200 on gems… so about $10 a month if averaged out. I can live with that.
I seen a post on reedit about a guy that spent $5000 in one week on gems.I have spent
over £1500 in 10 months.
Yup: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/387314/so_i_spent_5000_on_gw2_gems_last_week/
BTW: I bought 1600 gems so far.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Probably spent about 500 gold on gems. Not a single dollar though. Total gems I bought over the past few months has been 5900 gems.
about $40 probably. for bank slots and stuff.
Zero. Why would you? I spend enough on my daughters clothing, why would I spend it on pixels.
About 300$ since launch.

None whatsoever.
Any gems I’ve acquired were from converting gold earned ingame, or were given to me for free.
bout 60-80$ myself
wich i regret
Spent 3000+ gold maybe for something around 30.000 gems in total ^^
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Don’t know without going through card statements but with 55 character slots, multiple infinite tools, multiple armour skins (pre wardrobe), inventory slots and other sundry fun things the total is probably more than I’d like to know about. That was over the first year and a half of playing though when our dollar was close enough to the American one. Hardly any gems purchased over the last ten or so months.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Whatever number of gems roughly 1000 in game gold would buy over the 2 years. A lot of gems, zero dollars. 5 char slots (at 800 per) 5 bank slots (at 600 per?) and a few odd items here or there. I’ll likely buy the expansion with gems from in game gold.
I see no need to spend real life money when gold is to easy to earn. After all, it’s a game, right?
In real USD I’ve spent around $30.00. Bought $10 worth of gems for the previous set of Wings then another $20 recently to get my wife the Noble Count outfit and the Magitech skin set for me.
In gold, I’ve converted roughly 1,000 gems worth of gold to get the Arcane Outfit and the Broomstick cosmetic mount.

I think you will be disappointed when trying to purchase the HoT with Gems, unless you wait a year or two, and even then, you may still be disappointed.
OT: Many, many Gems with Gold, not as many with cash.
Hm. Probably around $300, combining mine and my husband’s accounts over the past almost three years.
I’m not sure on the exact number, but I must of spent at least 200$ on gems alone. I’ve enjoyed spending that money more than monthly subs though. Got all sorts of cool armor, weapons, outfits and bought most of the finishers. I still enjoy most of it. (although some regrets with giving some characters extra bag space).
A lot, and by a lot, I mean mad money, in the hundreds if not well over a thousand. To gibe you an idea, when ANet did the buy X Gems and get the green Quagan back and Mr Sparkles, I spend £400 that month alone. But I’ve calmed down alot. This year I’ve spent £20 on gems. Just nothing I really want in the store. Outfits don’t interest me, I have my gathering tools, I’m not paying 800 gems for the only armor skin I like on the store. Almost everything else is junk. (i like make over kits will probably buy one when HoT launches to do over my rev.) other than toon slots and bank tabs, the rest is not worth buy, as far as I’m concerned. And after the year 1 Halloween snafu with the BLK’s and the Halloween skin weapons I’ll never buy them again.

About $60 the first few months after launch. This was before we realized they were going to abandon paid expansions in favor for floating the game on gem sales like an f2p targeting content primarily at cash cow players. I don’t spend money here any longer.
$300-400 or so. At least if it’s something in game and not irl it won’t be an effort to pack if I move irl, won’t collect dust/take up room in my tiny apartment.
$0.00. But I have very little ingame. Mostly cause I played at launch till maybe the beginning of season1? maybe
And now have recently returned. I honestly cant seem to figure out what to spend money on…? But Im a progression type player, rather than a RP or cosmetic fanatic.
PS Even being that type of gamer. I still always liked this game and was very satisfied with the initial purchase during the release, well worth its money.

I hate admitting to myself the amount of dosh I’ve spent on this game, but it’s definitely into the thousands. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s at $5,000 AUD or more. I would, however, be ashamed. All that money and nothing to do. I’ve definitely spent my last dollar on it though – until HoT.
I paid probably $100 AUD towards getting my perma hair style kit (I use it plenty to justify that spend though), but the rest was farmed.
I agree with you here. I’ve got everything I really like (and then some), I’ve bought the infinite tools for convenience, I’ve got the character slots I want (for now), and everything else I see I just think “I could get that as junk from the Black Lion Chest….why bother?”, though it is a little annoying when I get a hair style kit. Makeover kits I hoard.
To be honest I hated P2P games – probably because when I started gaming I had next to no money to spend on entertainment so I had to be wise with my choices – but now I prefer that model to the in-game stores. I’d be spending much less in a P2P game without a store than in a game without the monthly sub, but with the store.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
About a grand or so.
Probably around 1300 dollars, 8 of each harvesting tool, 20 char slots, bank expansions, etc.
I have bought around $150 in the 3 years. I usually savage and deposit materials, use laurels to get materials and lastly sell them all. Its an easy way to get 1200 gems
First 2 months of playing, $125, after I realized they had no intention of continuing to put out content I enjoyed, $0.
Don’t mind paying for my entertainment, but I don’t like supporting people who ignore me as a customer.
Same reason I don’t go to the better Mexican restaurant down the street that has terrible service, and instead go a little further for the still good place that has reasonable service (can still be a pain because no hablo español).
$185.00 over a couple of years.
Try to spend around $10.00 a month as a “subscription” fee. I enjoy the game, and want to express my support. Also, like someone said above, you can get some cool swag, and I used to spend more on monthly subs with other games.
I just looked at my Paypal history and I spent a little over $900 in my first 6 months or so. I started playing around April 2013. I have only spent $10 since. However I got a lot of gem refunds for duplicate infinite tools when they went account bound, for the Flame Kissed armor thing when they changed it, and duplicate gem store armor sets when the wardrobe was put in place.
There really has not been anything in the gem store in a while that made me want to open my wallet again. The whole outfit thing bores me, I don’t care about mail carriers as I never notice them anyway, and I couldn’t care less about finishers and minis. If they released more interesting armor sets I’d probably start buying agin.

I’ll likely buy the expansion with gems from in game gold.
You likely will not.
0.0, the 20 euros I paid for the game are more than enough
I bought one 2000 gem card last anniversary. Everything else is gold to gems, buying a little bit every week. Last night I bought the chain sword skin and still have 4000 gems left saved up.
RIP City of Heroes
Too much <.<
maybe a thousand in the past 9 months or so…
Though it calmed down a lot, since I hate outfits and they seems to get those out a lot more than they do armors :/
nice for my bank account, not so nice for my characters.
Real cash: None, and I never will…
In gold… Whatever the digital deluxe upgrade, 3 bank slots and a couple of bags would have run the first month or so.
(And likely no more gold to gems either because screw that exchange rate)
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
ive spent well over 1000$ australian over the time ive been playing but i have been playing a long time, i dont have a lot of expenses irl so its not reall an issue for me.

The forum is ripe with cheap people who have grandiose ideas of how ArenaNET should do things.
I imagine my spending has been at least $1000 since before launch.
I’d say over $1,000

yeah cheap sure… go buy them shiny pixels, they’re really useful to have
I’ve spent maybe $40-$50. I for one love this business model and am happy to pay money to support the company making such a great game. I’m just really, really poor :*(

And pay the way for people that don’t buy gems with cash. Someone has to keep paying for your subscription free game.
yeah cheap sure… go buy them shiny pixels, they’re really useful to have
Example #1.
You paid for the game – you’ve paid for pixels.

I paid for a smallish plastic box with a nice cover. The pixels were just a nice bonus!

Believe it or not over thousands of dollars on Gems. Yes. 100% correct. Very sad in the eyes of some but I have a job that pays me money and I rarely use it on anything else so may as well on a game I love.
Something like $600-$800, a large chunk of that being birthday presents for others.
More than I should. Most of it over the last few months since coming back when the expansion was announced.
I bought a lot of gems using gold → gems. Bought like 2400 gems total with actual money but this was in the first year of the game. Not sure i would pay real money for gems now…
I bought enough to get a complete set of Mad Scientist’s harvesting equipment, and when next payday rolls around I’ll be getting the Copper Fed Salvage thingy, and then I’ll be thinking about slots and Season 2 stuff after that.
