As the title says: How much longer are we going to have to wait for the box to be opened up again?

I understand “upgrading” or “fixing” stuff takes time. But surely Arenanet has some test server(s) where they can build and test new content. There’s simply no reason to put the current content offline unless the new content is ready to be implemented into the live servers.

As a programmer myself I do know that even when content is ready, it still takes some time to implement. Especially when you come across new bugs after the implementation. But there’s really no excuse why that should be more than a month.

So I’m sorry if this comes across as ranting. I just think there’s a time for a player to wait patiently and there’s a time when a developer and / or manager has to come forward and give more details about the long waiting times. I think that time is now come. So I do hope this will lead to some more solid information from Arenanet.

The second time the box opened was roughly 4 months after it closed (april 30 – september 3), so if they keep the same cadence I’d say somewhere around february.

However, think it’s most likely that the SAB will return on april 1st, so there’s a chance that we’ll either have to wait until then, or maybe they’ll do an intermediate opening between the end of september one and april’s 1st (maybe somewhere in january?)

I don’t think SAB was ever supposed to be a regular part of the game. It was originally created by a very small team (I think 5 people?) as an April Fool’s joke and probably wasn’t intended to have more than the one world.

Because it proved so popular with players it was worked into the Living World rotation. But even then it was 5 months between releases.

I think it’s more a matter of assuming it will come back some time, when they have another suitable gap in Living Story content, rather than expecting to see it as soon as they can make it, test it and get it out.

They have holiday events which occur at fixed times every year and then in between those they have the recurring living world events, which include the Queen’s Gauntlet, Zephyr Sanctum and the SAB. Layout all these events over the course of a year, where they try to have 1 event every other month, and you can estimate when the next release will happen (around February).

The SAB occurring twice in 1 year may not happen again, since originally, it was just as a joke. Although they might release it next April, I doubt they’d make it the focus for an April Fools joke again.

Don’t expect it to make a come back, it might, but it is certainly not a given.
