Guild Wars 2

Has there been any word on an actual final date for the free world transfers? The worlds look to be leveling out, but a spot on the calendar would help me make sure I’m settled in. I imagine there are plenty of others wondering this, too.

I’d like to know this too! I want to find a server that I’m happy with and don’t want to leave it too late.

I would estimate transfers won’t be free anymore once the 2 week long WvW matches start, to prevent the servers from becoming really unbalanced like they have been due to mass amounts of guilds transferring around.

I would like a one-day notice because I’ve been using the free server transfer to proxy guesting.

Any murmurs on this from ANet, yet?

I have not heard anything definite yet (and I am always checking their twitter, fb, dev tracker, etc).

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that we probably have about a month or so before they remove the free aspect. There are still way too many people coming into the game, so the populations have not stabilized yet.

Last thing I heard was that Arena Net was not planning on closing transfers at any specific date, but that they would give plenty of warning when they decided to end free transfers.

So long as they give warning, that’s cool. I was already burned by the lack of warning on Rift 1.10, so I’d rather not be twice burned in short order.

Yeah they need to get on this. Apparently this is one of the reasons giant server guilds are dominating the WvW. They been using their alt accounts to enter opposing servers and go afk so that the flow of actual players can not enter the WvW map. You’ll notice them when you enter the WvW once it has been resetted. They will not be representing a guild and afk at the way point.
