well, if you want to hear it or nor, it does not affect me at all. I have been alternating between 2 event points for the larger part of saturday and had no problems at all with DR.

@Sharpe you just admitted that you don’t know if DR effects you or not because you have never tried to make any money!

@Fozzik FFXIV tried to dictate how people play, Look where that got them, every lead developer got fired and the game tanked faster then the Titanic!

FFXIV was also a terrible game. I’m sure that had something to do with it.

Different games, different times, different devs, different DR system (you have no idea how it works in the open world, and only a very basic understanding of it for dungeons). So no, you can’t realistically compare the two situations at all and predict what will happen.

My guess is that this is all much ado about nothing. People need something to get all worked up about. Right now, DR is the fashionable thing. Once they work the bugs out, I doubt it’s going to ever have an effect on people playing the game normally. It will probably always be the boogieman in the closet on which some panicky people blame all of life’s injustice, but I don’t think it’s going to affect GW2’s success at all. Most players will never know it exists, and will never care.

Stop being so selective. I payed for this game too and at this point I feel cheaTed by a feature that was introduced 2 week’s after launch to fight a problem that has not even been dented.

I don’t think i saw one person demanding a yellow drop a minute yet inexplicably, you’ve said that. So what are we left with. You exaggerating trying to downplay an issue that 80% of the posters are Making up?…or you’re just full of kitten.

The point of that post is it’s rampant and players aren’t happy. MMORPG.com, IGN.com, Massively.com, MMO-Champion.com, MMOHUT..all filled with different posters posting about the same non existent issue. what a coincidence.

Your right I don’t know how it works I only know that I am making 60% less money then i made before DR.

Saying it has no effect on the player base is turning a blind eye. If its having no effect why are all the zones not packed? If people are happy with the system why are the not making alts and where are the new players?

For the people questioning how I am hitting diminishing returns and even flat out calling me a lier:

Get ~200% magic find. Why do I have 200% magic find do you ask? Well, when you want to do something well (in this case get rare items) you typically stack a stat to improve your performance in that area. If i want to support my group, i stack Boon Duration, Healing, etc. If I want to be a glass cannon, I stack power, prescsion, crit damage etc. Since I want more rare items, I stack magic find.

Go do any event in Orr, tag (do enough damage for them to drop loot) 100% of NPCs that spawn. Why do I tag 100% of them do you ask? Well, I thought the point is to kill them so they don’t take whatever objective is for the DE…. Should I hug them instead? Or should I single target them and be completely worthless to the rest of the people doing the DE?

Watch your loot start to dry up around 15 minutes and completely diminish in around 30 (even moving around never doing the same event twice)

Most of the people saying DR doesn’t effect them are being honest. Because they have no idea what DR is. If you weren’t 80 in the first 2 weeks then you have been playing with DR in effect the whole time.

or still aren’t 80 which i suspect is quite a few of the cases.

Yeah I am pretty close to leaving the game. I don’t get a lot of time to play because of work, so when i do get time, I like to be able to do something for more than 15minutes before i hit the DR wall.

Poor solution to the botting problem – it is driving more players away than driving bots away.

Facepalm you mean there not all on vacation?

As someone who has actively avoided easy money exploits since I started playing the game I’m fairly angry how this has affected my progress towards a legendary and just generally maintaining cashflow for WvW. To be honest It makes me wish I’d have jumped on board with the exploits whilst I still could.

WvW is expensive when you’re upgrading keeps and repair and travel costs in the game are hardly cheap either. When the loot restrictions kick in it’s hard enough to break even let alone make any money or progress in the game at all. Most people forget that WvW is also effected by by the same system in regards to loot and badge drops from players so you get stuck in a perpetual cycle of no loot even if you’re working towards badge gear or simply trying to make a little money in Orr.

DR is very real and not just something that effects botters or hardcore Asian style mmo grinders, it cuts right to the core of the casual player base and seems to be making a lot of people angry and rightfully so. Its really has sapped my motivation to play the game and that’s a sad thing as It’s a good game at heart and one which I enjoy.

Lets face it Orr isn’t the greatest of endgame content for repeat play, there’s only so much fun available there. So what better to do than to take away karma gains, loot drops and the majority of the incentive to play there at all or in fact even log in . It makes no sense and DR can be considered at best as short sighted and worst as a huge insult to regular players.

Anet for all the positive things I can say about them are stupidly heavy handed in their approach to problem solving. In itself I find the lack of subtlety most disappointing for such an innovate company which claims to have players interests at heart.

Soul and I were having a laugh. my comments were only aimed at him as you can plainly see and his responses were aimed, you guessed it, only at me. If that bothers you feel free to not read it.

Yup. I’m close to being done myself. Game started out strong, then everything took a dark turn. Not only with the DR but everything after lvl 50 is diminished! Landscapes get ugly, mobs are unimaginative, just swarms of inquest or undead over and over.

Now being that crafting is broken (thanks to DR), the game is just a big hack n’ slash grind fest. Hardly an MMORPG.

ArenaNet needed to go forward, instead they went backwards.

Well said, and it’s called, “damage control”. Anet has been doing a lot of that lately. Just seems they don’t have a support initiative to handle mass exposure. Again, very promising artistically, but their lack of technical support is forcing a lot of poor moves.
