Just curious, well more like trying to not feel like the only person who has given hundreds to Anet for gems.

My paypal account transaction list is insane.

Anyone else throwing money at Anet? This is my first MMO so nothing I’ve always done. I’m just surprised it has gotten to that point hehe.

Does anyone else see a Farmville phenomenon happening here?

Exactly 60 dollars, nothing in gem store I want or need.

I haven’t spent a ton of money…but I’ve spent some…not because I need to, but because I like the game and I’m happy to support the company. Actually, my wife wanted gems for our anniversary so we got some for that too.

I have given 79.99, I believe, the cost of a DDE, and nothing more. I have, however, bought many things from the ‘cash shop’ by exchanging gold for gems. =)

I’ve purchased gems with cash (I don’t exchange in game gold) for those “just in case” times there’s something I want. The pick is a perfect example. There’s not really a lot in the shop yet that I want.

Basic game plus a little extra cash = $80 total.

Too bad I like buying the mini kits, BL keys and tons of everything else. I am an addict

Some, but after the introduced Ascended Gear I stopped spending money on the gem store.

Although I am liking the new Town clothes Shirt skins. So maybe a purchase in the future if they keep adding those types of things.

$80 with gw2, much more if we are including gw1 purchases.

The collector’s edition plus about $120 give or take. Worth every penny and more.

Ive probably spent 100-200 dollars or close to it in my currency (NZ dollar). Depending on what I’m buying I feel its well worth it. Such things as extra char slots/bank/bag slots are well worth it just for conveniance alone.

Extra item’s now and then just for looks (krytan etc) I think are fun and worth it if you feel like Anet deserves a bit more extra cash from you or you can afford to trade in game gold for gems.

However I will NEVER buy keys. Doing that only promotes the bad form of gambling.

I will trade ingame gold for gems for such other things also as I said like backpacks etc. Heck why not gold is easy enough to make in game and you don’t need it for much. And NO I do not farm dungeons all day. I simply hate the idea of that, goes against the intended purpose of them in my opinion but thats a whole other issue for a whole other post I guess lol.

True, but on the other hand companies also don’t change their behavior while constumers still throw money at them.

Oh yeah while we are on the subject, no one else think this should have just been a set in the first place instead of individual pieces?

Besides that what’s the point of all these other individual pieces if they really just don’t go with anything? :S

I was forgetting about bank and alt slots. 18 alts so I’d say Anet has done alright out of me. Finished doing that for now so now my gems are for a rainy day (today).

True, but on the other hand companies also don’t change their behavior while constumers still throw money at them.

Which is why you don’t go out of your way to support a company that you want to improve.

If you see something you want enough to buy (which is truly saying something in a game with a gold to gem conversion) then go ahead. You aren’t making a statement or intentionally throwing lots of money their way. You just got something you wanted and they got something they wanted in return.

All dollar values are Australian dollars (hence the crazy high price for the CE).

Bought the Collector’s Edition – $150 (Aug 2012)
Gems to unlock all bank slots and bag slots for my characters – $100 (Aug 2012)
Gems for Transmutation Crystals when they were on sale – $50 (Jan 2013)
Gems to buy 5 Molten Alliance Mining Picks – $50 (Apr 2013)

So $350, it seems. Not too bad for a 9 month period. Plus I still have some gems in the pot for when other items go on sale.

Sadly I spent 4k on some…other…game.. by NCsoft. Now that was a waste lol. Always somethen fun to buy on gem store for me, and upgrades etc. If you have it, its ok, so long as it doesn’t affect you financially your ok.

Zero. Even the boxed game itself was a gift from my guild leader to me. I don’t intend on buying anything from the cash shop ever either. That may change if they add useful, fast, and cute mounts to the game but till then, no dice. Better things to spend my cash on.

$570 in gem store purchases over the 8 months I’ve been playing GW2. Seems like a lot, but it’s within my budget for leisure spending and doesn’t affect my finances.

just the $59.99 from the beginning. that’s all, so far. i support ANET by buying the gems sold by other players, using the in-game gold….

Collector’s Edition and no more. I literally can’t buy any gems. All I can do is convert ingame gold to gems (got a new character slot). Really disappointing, I really wanted some of the past Minis.

~55 Euro for the game, another 10 Euro for gems.

i wont spend anymore money on the game until Anet drastically increases the frequency and amount of balances/fixes and implements some WvW-improvements regarding zerg-punishment and skill-lag. and they should improve their communication with the community…

also, atm there isnt really anything in the shop i want. most of the stuff there just sucks.

I used to enjoy shooting sports but now play computer games instead. I spend considerably less with my computer games but by the looks of this thread lots more than most.

(FYI I’m an geriatric retired gamer with the mortgage paid off, so I do have a lot of disposable income and free time these days)

Maybe $200. Would have been alot more, but for a few reasons I decided not to spend money on GW2 ever again.

Unless anet is a publicly owned company, I don’t think we’ll see their books.

So far, I’ve bought the game (not deluxe), fully tabbed out my bank, invested in an additional seven character slots and the full compliment of bag slots for my main character only. Other than that, one or two minor cosmetic items to use up a few stray gems. I haven’t added it up, but it’s probably around about the same as I would have paid for a subscription MMO in the same period, perhaps a little more. I’m cool with that.

Bought the CE and a gem card. Was about to spend more cash on gems but put everything on hold until I know which direction GW2 is taking, which we will se with the next expansion I guess.

For example, if there will be a levl cap raise and if that resets the gear treadmill, which seem to be, then I wont spend another dime for GW2 as it is just another MMO with some neat features here and there imho.

Same here. Spend the saved money on another MMORPG with monthly subscription – never had any regrets so far.

Exactly 60$ for now and its staying like that until an expansion comes out (implying ill be still playing gw2). Not wasting real dollars on worthless BL keys and when i need gems for fine transmute stones (pretty much the only item on gen store that is useful) i trade my in game gold for gems.

Enough but I would never spend another penny on this game or any other NC Soft or Anet title.

I personally bought the CE for 150€ which was well spent.

Got 2 gem card from my fiancée.

On GW1 I spent far more but that was over 7 years.

~200 or so, didn’t relly count.
just bought the unlimited mining pick yesterday.. such a great idea, if it just wasn’t souldbound on use. I can’t main just one char, I like most classes and like to change it up from time to time. the pick is yet another slap in the face against people with many alts.

if they’d just stop making everything per character (especially colors, bag slots, costumes, skins by extension) I’d buy so much more stuff from them. I would’ve long ago maxed out bag slots, if I could buy them for all characters instead of only for one (I already paid for having the additional slots).. flame and frost dyes? I’d love to buy them, but not for only 1 char.

35 euros a hivernel for a costume…

but I’d rather pay for gw1 armor.

I spent $60 USD on the game and I have spent $40 USD on Gems over the last 3-4 months.

Considering the hours of entertainment I have received from the game it’s been worth it, but I don’t plan to spend any more. $100 is at the top end of my limit on what I’ll spend on a video game. While I could spend more, that is the limit I have set for myself. If an expansion comes out with content that looks to be worth the money then I’ll reconsider the idea, but I don’t plan to spend any more on Gems.
