How old will you be when you stop playing GW2
I doubt ArenaNet cares how old its playerbase is. As long as people keep playing and buying into the game, that’s all that matters. They are a business, after all.
I totally agree with your thinking! I just think if it’s supposed to be a GW2 community which anet team is looking after the older gamers lol
When GW3 is launched.
GW2 is basically everything I want from an MMO, and has only gotten better since launch, and is the only game where I feel I have an impact upon development.
I’m impressed with how they have implemented pretty much everything asked for in the CDI’s, or have plans to implement them.
I think Anet probably does take the age of their players into account, but maybe not in this sense.
For example I’m sure they were aware when making it that an MMO without a subscription or gear treadmill would appeal to people who cannot commit a lot of time on a regular basis to playing, like adults with children or erratic work schedules, and factored that in to other decisions – like making the new login rewards continue where you left off instead of resetting if you miss a day.
But they would also have been aware that teenagers are a big market for any computer game, so having established that they wouldn’t be making a game with a lot of gore, or nudity, drugs etc. anyway they would probably have tried to ensure before even submitting it to ratings boards that they’d be likely to get a 12+/Teen rating so they could attract that market too.

I’m 53. I have people in my guild who are over 60. How old I’ll be depends on my health. My vision. My ability to use the keyboard.
These are all factors.
The age of the average gamer is over 30 now anyway.
there’s a thread which asked about the age of some of the older members of the player base. Some are in their 50s, 60s, even 70s
I’m 62, 63 in April, friends are of similar ages … and I still play ‘GW The Original’ tho’ it’s just to get the HOM up to par.
growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

I’m 33. I’ll probably be either dead or playing Guild Wars 3 when I stop playing Guild Wars 2
I’m 38, will play until I cant function enough to play anymore, hopefully GW5 will be out by then though
As old as I am when they pry the mouse out of my dead, cold hand. Lol.
That may not be that far in the future, as I am quite elderly! =P

Yeah, because the under 30 crowd are buying “phablets” and “tablets” more and more. Thus playing casual “games” (I hate calling crap like Candy Crush or Farmville “games”).
:)
I’ m 21 here. Playing not continually but heck having a good time and fully satisfacted with the game guess it wil take a hella lot!
I was 25 when GW1 came out. 32 when GW2 came out.
With the HoT announcement, I expect remaining very close to the franchise for the foreseeable future. Ultimately it depends on what they end up doing for their game, vs what others do with theirs. I’m still interested in seeing what happens with EQN whenever that time comes (sandbox content has appealed to me more and more over the years). But HoT will be a tremendous boon for GW2. It has to much “win” in it.
There will still be things the game lacks or should address of course. Time will tell how that plays out vs competition down the road. But for now, I’m about to be 35 and don’t feel my time with GW2 is anywhere near over.

I started GW2 a year ago and I’m hooked. Even though its hard to find other players in my age group, the community is so polite it doesn’t even matter.
I’ll stop playing when GW3 comes out. I have to say after playing GW2 other MMO’s don’t look as attractive. Anet has officially spoiled me.
113 if I make it to 2044.

You forgot the Playstations and Xboxes…those go along with the under 30 crowd that buys tablets, et all..(and the over 30 crowd that likes to play games). As for me, I’ll stop playing when they turn the servers off, same as GW1.
Until I get bored, life gets in the way or I find something better. I’m recently rejoining the game after having been away a while for all three of the listed reasons.
Life in the way – I retired and had to deal with all the relevant nonsense that goes along with that.
Bored – all I was doing was farming for ascended, was getting old back when I left, so I did play some other games in the interim mostly single player games that are much less of a times sink than an MMO.
Find something better – I admire loyalty as well as the comfort of really knowing ones characters and game (especially now that I’m out of that comfort spot here), but new things are always coming along and old things can lose their new car smell. I’d not not take a good hard look at a game I thought might be more fun if it were to come along. I strayed back to single player games and had a blast, many aspects of single player games allow them to be more interesting and coherent than the wider aim of MMOs.
p.s. I’m 52 years of age.

My life will be complete after playing as tengu, so every moment following that won’t need to be counted.

I’ll probably never really completely stop playing GW1 or GW2. I still stop in and play some GW1 every once in a while and I started that in 2005. I can see myself still logging into GW2 if it ever goes into “automated maintenance mode” like GW1.
The only thing that’d stop me is if they took the servers offline or if I couldn’t afford an internet connection, tbh
There’s no predicting that. I’ve played quite a few MMO’s over the years since a friend convinced me to give Dark Age of Camelot a go. What usually ended my time in a game was having all my friends move on to something else, or not having enough friends join it. The one exception was WoW, which I left even though I had many friends deeply involved in it because GW2 fit me so much better.
But tastes change. I thought I’d never stop LARPing (theatrical style) or sewing costumes. Then I missed one convention so I could celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday, and somehow never mustered the energy to return to it. I thought I’d never stop painting miniatures. But when I moved to a new house I never got around to setting up a painting station, and it’s been nigh on 14 years since I painted one. I thought I’d keep on doing weekly vintage dancing; then my arches went bad.
I thought I’d be in my job until I retired, but I left it a few years shy of that thanks to new management raising the stress levels unbearably.
So I imagine I’ll be playing GW2 and other MMO’s for a long time to come. I make no promises, however. It could become yet another hobby that fades away for me. Until then I intend to have tons of fun in it, though!
