I’ve worked out that trying to do LS series 2 on a thief is just frustration and rage for me, thief is just not capable of surviving battles in those instances. But now I have the green text continuously in the top right corner. I try to quit the episode, it just pops back again.

Is there any way to totally switch off the LS2 on a character?

I think there is a option with the tracker. Can turn on and off trackers for nearby poi, unexplored zones, events and story trackers

i have a thief aswell thoi havent played ls2 with it so i wouldnt know.
try using a different weapon and use more defensive traits and abilities.
worked with my other chars as i also had some troubles with some parts

I’ve tried moving all my traits to vitality line, heal on using initiative, PVT gear etc etc. Nothing can help me survive more than 20 seconds against the mobs directly targeted at me. I’ve done the LS easily on 2 rangers, engineer, warrior, guardian… just can’t do it on thief.

I have no idea why the game was designed to send every single class into the same ‘kill everything to win’ missions. Its like your profession means absolutely nothing at all outside of PvP.

I found the two thief buddies you can summon to be quite helpful in many situations, but I have not played my thief through the LS, so I’m not sure how they’d fare against the LS bosses. Probably not too well.

The table is a fable.

To quit an episode, you open the story journal and click the button in the same way you start it.

What part exactly is the problem?

I ran through some of it on my alt thief in terrible gear (only rares, no runes) and with no traits for a little while. For any mob packs, just keep up the pistol offhand blind AoE and auto attack.

I’ve played all the episodes on my Thief only. Which part of the story are you having a hard time?

I also do all the LS on my Thief first since he’s my main, even though he’s got a horrible build and dps is this thing other people do. He was my first GW2 character, what can I say, I’m attached!

If you’re NA I’d be happy to join you (I might bring a mesmer or guardian, though, depending on the part of LS you’re doing, as they are my repeat-the-LS alts). I enjoy helping folks through the LS. I should be available for it this evening (eastern time).

Cheers for the offer!

I painfully dragged one of my alts up to LS EP5. I’ll be on at about 10pm GMT, on my other account (GuzziHero.5104). If you’re on, maybe we can help each other

I believe that’s around 5 pm my time so yes, I should be around then — the RP and POI is earlier in the day.

All I have left in LS right now are the first and third parts of Chapter 8 achieves, just waiting for a guild group on that so’s I can finish up Lumi. Also earlier chapter achieves that had no meta, but I’m not pressed to get those. But you’ll be helping me by giving me stuff to do!

dont use pvt gear or spec for health, healing etc.

Anet messed up in that respect by making those stats pretty much useless. Use only zerker against mobs. Yes, I know it irrating that there is kinda a force stat but blame anet

Pretty much every battle in episode 4, I was down more than I was up. I tried the first mission of episode 5 and gave up after the first battle.

I usually use 6, 6, 0, 2, 0 or 6, 4, 0, 4, 0. Even tried 6, 2, 0, 6, 0 and kept going down over and over. Using PVT and a Valk/Knight equal mix, both with Scholar runes, seems to make no difference.

Weapons are P/P and S/P. Can’t use daggers, motion blur makes me nauseous.

The thief is just the perfect storm of bad design for many of these story steps. Single target damage focused, with no survivability. As I say, its not so much an L2P issue as I monstered my way through the entire LS2 with ranger, engineer and warrior.

Well, I can offer some advice that hopefully can help.

For your traits, try 6/6/2/0/0, grabbing the condi cleanse in stealth trait from Shadow Arts. You do need condi cleanse against Mordrem! And as mentioned above, forget about the PVT gear, go Berserker’s. Your goal is to kill everything before it can kill you.

What part of D/D makes you sick? Is it just Death Blossom, which you shouldn’t be using anyway? If it’s Heartseeker too, then that’d cause issues. If you can’t make D/D work, then try S/D instead. You still get the stealth on command via Cloak and Dagger, while you get increased damage via melee and the ability to cleave three enemies at once. Thief is only single target damage focused with P/P, so once you can get away from that weak weaponset you’ll be able to take things down more quickly. Even main-hand dagger cleaves two enemies now with auto-attacks.

You could also use S/P and try to rely on Black Powder to blind enemies and lock them down. This isn’t as effective as it used to be, though, and it removes your easy stealth access for condi cleanses. S/D is probably the overall more reliable way to go, as a result, if D/D isn’t an option for you. It’ll also help once you get to the bosses with Defiance that are immune to Blind, so that you’re better prepared to deal with them.

Keep Shortbow as your secondary weapon, regardless of what main set you go with. Being able to flip to it and do some extra evades with Disabling Shot can be a lifesaver while you wait for your heal to recharge. Shadow Refuge can be used similarly to buy yourself some time as well.

The problem is that you cant quit the LS altogether unless you have completed it.

If you quit one episode the game will automatically active the next one for you, and if you quit the last it will activate the first again.

It is currently not possible to quit LS.

Edit: as far as thieves go: DD is actually quite nice for tough missions.

DD3 can be used to heal yourself up very fast if you have to because it hits 3 times per enemy, healing almost 400 hp for every enemy you hit. If you spam it a few times you can easily go from almost dead to full HP.

You should also use the elite skill that summons backup, if only to get some meat to take hits for you.

p/p is not totally single target weaponset. If you use from Trickery Ricochet trait, then your bullets are bouncing from foe to foe and you can hit even 32 times while using unload skill. And all your bullets are bouncing, what ever skill you use, but most effective is unload skill.

So don’t believe all things what these guys tell you, read from Wiki what different traits do, and you will learn to understand what is best weapon set to you. Do you want to do mass damage with bounching bullets, or do you want do mass damage in close combat with daggers.

As you can see, not even all “Thief Specialist” what they claim to be, don’t know that p/p can be really effective weaponset

None of the trait lines he said he tried included Ricochet, so his P/P set was single target. That said, P/P is still nowhere near an optimal weaponset even with Ricochet. Could he succeed with it? Probably. Does that make it the best? No. Cluster Bomb on the Shortbow is going to outdamage P/P Ricochet Unloads, cost less initiative in the process, and not require investment in the Trickery trait line which offers no statistical benefit to a direct damage thief. And it retains Disabling Shot, a skill which can keep you alive via extra evades. P/P’s truly serious issue as a weaponset is that it offers no stealth, no evasions, no method of damage mitigation that the other weapons offer besides Black Powder. But if you spend your initiative on Black Powder, you’re left only able to auto-attack, a weak condition based auto-attack, which is pretty pointless and pales in comparison to using S/P to auto-attack with a powerful cleaving sword in your blind field.

So for someone struggling with the content and having issues surviving, I can’t in good conscience recommend P/P, Ricochet or not. It offers nothing that Shortbow can’t already do better.

Thief is definitely the hardest class to get through them with, but it can be done. Just frustrating. I’d recommend enlisting a friend or two to do them with you. More fun that way anyway.
