How do you counter the dragon-timer trolls on your server?

Because WPing around been eating up my coins. had a gold, and now down to a few silvers from WPing to events that were already started or finished.

Whats your methods to counter the Dragon-Timer trolls?

There is non. Keep your own timer perhaps or ask your guildies when certain bosses spawn.

Write the timers down at reset. This is usually around when they get trolled. If they get trolled then at least you have a decent estimate on the spawn.

I have 7 80s. I have a character parked at every boss. No wasted WP costs.

Nice, I was really cautiously anticipating Arenanet to simply allow us to see the events. Seems they are confident that it is more good than bad, I have rarely ever done more than a few events I’d love to do ones I’ve never done before. They are counting up though, is that because it’s counting from last spawn time? I’m no good with API stuff :P

idk, maybe i dont understand what it says when up, but i think my fire ele timer kept resetting like 3 times for my server. and it said a wierd message when a guildy told us it was up

Easy: stop doing world bosses because they aren’t fun anymore?

Haha, I hear ya.

Well it didn’t take long for someone to tie it in to the wiki. The wiki is now dynamically linked to the game for dynamic events – the “Fetch” link pulls up a list of all servers the event is active on.

Maybe I’m being durr about this but.. They seem to be counting down now, but what are the check marks for? Forgive me if it results in a durr answer lol

Edit: Oh wait, is it so users can select what they have done that day before reset?

After the meta event is over it would be nice if all the people who update ALSO vote that the timer is good. Once it has a green check next to it it cannot be trolled as of my understanding.

I would say either parameters haven’t been met or it isn’t ready yet. Not sure about the top left, my screen is all on right side for tabs.

Hmmm I didn’t know that since all the checked ones ive done have never been trolled, thanks for the info.

But since the API is out there now it would be best to have up dragontemple and gw2stuff.com for reference; plus besides the gw2stuff.com site is programmed with the API it cannot be trolled and actually uses timers for EVERY meta event which would be nice to see more people at than just the low lvl ones (and it shows where they happen at on the world map so if you dont know where to find them now you do)

By using dragon timer..

I don’t bother trying to track the timers. If I’m in the area and the event is happening, I join in. If I miss it, no big deal. I don’t farm the daily chests for those bosses. It would get redundant and boring in a very short time.

Some bosses are at the end of a meta event that must be activated first and completed. The Fire Shaman is a good example. There’s a meta event you must do before his starts.

Edit: Though Golem mk2 doesn’t have a timer? Probably going to stick with gw2 temple until it’s gw2stuff is complete, temple is very rarely wrong anyhow.

It has an event that must be completed first with the pods. This event is not considered part of the boss event although it is a prerequisite.

This is where dragon timers will still be useful until someone figures out to include the timers for the prerequisite meta event chain.

The same is likely for fire elemental too. There’s the event to destroy those chaos crystals. Once this is done, the npc moves in to place and you can talk to her to initiate the fire elemental meta event.

The same is likely true for the boss at Harathi Highlands. There’s a chain that must be completed. If no key does this then the boss need spawns.

It could be that whoever does the gw2stuff site needs to include the timers for these events. They’re likely basing their their timers on an event further in the sequence. Like basing the timer for Claw of Jormag on when he lands instead of when the crystals drop.

The way I found this out was I keep the timers up on my second monitor and watched timer get trolled and marked as correct, it took several votes to take the marked as good votes out in order to vote timer as bad. I get my guildies to help in this when that happens, but, may not be doing it any more once I get used to how the API timer works.
