So I was recently at a friend’s house watching him play around in the Silverwastes while I worked on a school project. During the total duration of the visit he managed to participate in at least 2 Breaches and Vinewraths. Fortunately enough, I got to see one fail and one succeed and managed to compile some data on how to actually do it. So I am going to provide a quick guide on the dos and don’ts of each event. You can consider this an annex of the old post which got recently derailed and locked (bummed about that one) since the first topic sprung out of a rant I witnessed in game based on someone’s recent Vinewrath experience.

This is meant as an easy to read guide for the clueless. Let’s start with The Breach.

Copper
Copper is durable but simple.

  • A player(s) kites away as many adds as possible away from Copper.
  • Player who is kiting copper must keep them within range of other players attacking from range.
  • Permapoison helps. (Bluefox)
  • Players should bring some boonstrip to remove the regen if any adds die.
  • A few players concentrate on popping bubbles as they heal for a percentage.
  • Everyone else burns him from a safe spot.
  • Contrary to popular belief, highly damaging AoE like a GC staff ele’s Meteor Shower is a good thing to use because the regen applied is inconcequential compared to the 4k+ damage per hit, especially with blasting staff traits. Witnessed my friend’s ele melt a chunk off Copper’s HP with MS. So if you are a glasscannon don’t be afraid to melt him with everything.

Silver & Gold

  • Players monitor the Boss Icons on the minimap and pop bubbles in front of their direction of movement.
  • When Silver or Gold hit the blue circle, they will be stunned. It doesn’t have to be on top of them.
  • Once either is stunned, burn them.
  • Repeat till dead.

Iron
Didn’t see much of this but as far as I know:

  • CC or kill Summoned Vet trolls when they attempt to heal.
  • Stay out of the orange rings as much as possible.
  • Kill fast.
  • Knocking Vets into the middle can also help keep pressure off of the damage dealers as well as make them susceptible to AoE done on Iron.

Platinum
This was by far the easiest i’ve seen.

  • Popping bubbles near it will give it Poison Buildup. At 5 PB it’ll do a devastating AoE, however those ranging it from the very edge will not get hit.
  • Melt him. Is way more susceptible to melting as shown by my friend again using MS. In fact at one point we counted 20 out of 24 meteors actually hitting Platinum each dealing between 5-7k which caused it’s bar to drop much faster. The large number of hits probably tells you his hitbox is huge.

Now for Vinewrath:

Siege Carrier Defense

  • Build siege first thing.
  • Anyone capable of AoE heal should concentrate on Siege Carrier when their HP drops below 70%.
  • Otherwise, melt everything.
  • North entrance must roll into the trees to get ammo. Mid and South ammo collection just has to collect it.
  • AIR STRIKE! AIR STRIKE! AIR STRIKE! And to do it you need to take a lit torch on the wall and poke the signal fire located close to the ammo stacks. (Bluefox)

Beekeeper

  • Burn him and his adds.
  • When bee circles appear, players can help build up the beehive by getting a debuff that directs swarms to the hive.
  • When beekeeper runs to Vinewrath, hide behind beehive to keep yourself from dying to the laser.
  • Rinse and repeat until dead.

Mangler

  • Burn him. Contrary to popular belief, the pustules do nothing to him. The buff they give is already applied to the Mangler and it lasts the whole fight. It will not stack either.
  • Pop pustules to recieve the Spore Induced Rage buff that increases speed, damage and damage resistance by 25%. Dodge attacks and keep applying for optimal survivability.
  • Pop all pustules to avoid AoE poison.
  • Reflect when Mangler spins.
  • When Mangler heads towards Vinewrath, follow him and get in the white cone he produces. Otherwise you will be stunned for 16 seconds and stunbreaks will not break it.

Dark Wing

  • Avoid attacks and burn him.
  • Attack triggerblooms to make a flower that helps avoid Vinewrath’s instadown attack. Triggerblooms explode after a time so be quick.

If I missed anything, please post them below.

EDIT: I did a few updates but ran out of time. I will finish after I get back.

Happy Vinewrathing!

Looks good to me. One thing about Mangler though: you need to kill the pustules before they explode for wide area of effect damage, and a lasting poison dot on the ground. The wipes on it are caused by the pustules not being killed.

Additions:

Copper

  • Poison is highly recommended to help nullify inevitable healing. -33%
  • There must be at least one person in the pit at all times to avoid a reset.
  • Reflect walls are wonderful for those few poor souls who somehow manage to incur the wrath of the adds, all of which throw crippling and bleeding projectiles.

Silver and Gold

  • When they run into each other, they will deal massive continuous damage in ~900 AoE, avoid/range it.
  • The trails they leave do damage, don’t chase them.

Iron

  • The small trolls do an immensely annoying pull, it’s very helpful for guardians with GS to scoop them together in the middle to relieve pressure on your damage dealers.
  • There’s gaps in between the massive AoE’s done by troll, watch for them. Weakness also helps greatly.

Siege Carrier Defense

  • Air strikes (torch + beacon) do a massive amount of damage to the HP sponge vets/elites/champs. ~30% I believe. Try to use them right after a spawn.
  • Build all siege, including those by the ammo. Due to immense toughness on them, they draw aggro and absorb huge amounts of damage instead of the ammo pile. Condition classes are best used on siege, as condition damage stat is taken into account.
  • Dodge roll into trees at north for ammo, mid and south are readily available.

Beekeeper

  • Bring stability. Adds have a knock back that try to push you out of the safety of the hive.

Dark Wing

  • This boss can be pulled into a nearby tendril. Someone like an ele in full zerk can hold aggro permanently, and he’ll stay 100% stationary as he can see you, but can’t charge through the invisible wall of the tendril.

Adding some things:

Gold / Silver:
-Bubbles create a white circle when their health is low. This doesn’t stun the teragriffs. You need to actually pop the bubbles.
-Both gold and silver change directions after being stunned with a bubble. Take advantage of this to pop the bubble in the direction they’re going next.
-When they’re right next to each other, don’t stand close to them. You’ll die. It’s a good opportunity to burn them from range though.

Copper:
-Poison is very useful as it reduces the amount of healing it gets.
-Repeating what was said before: AoE is perfectly fine.
-Don’t be that guy on the ledge only spamming autos. You’re not helping.

Platinum:
-Move towards the section it will teleport to next as you’re DPSing it from range so there’s no downtime chasing it around.

Vinewrath:
-Call in airstrikes by taking a torch and lighting the fire with it.
-Guardians’ Tome of Courage #5 heals the carrier by about 40%.
-You can get credit for more than 1 boss fight by using the mortars at north. Angle it towards VW and fire the incendiary bombs at max strength. It’s very likely you’ll hit the boss. Note this will track you if you weren’t tracked already.

Beekeeper:
-Don’t stand behind the honeycombs the entire time. The laser only fires when Beekeeper’s standing at the edge close to Vinewrath.
-Feel free to melee, its attacks are very obviously telegraphed and trivial to dodge.
-Don’t feel pressured to fight Beekeeper for the Preserved Queen Bee drop. It’s not tied to Beekeeper chest, but the VW chest at the end.

Mangler:
-The AoE poison attack’s radius is a lot bigger than the circle. This is the #1 cause for wipes.
-Reflects help with projectiles, but it’s not 100% necessary.
-Don’t stand in red circles. Please.

Dark Wing:
-Don’t stand on flowers the entire time. The attack only happens after Dark Wing runs to the side closest to Vinewrath.

On Copper:

If you happen to be, say, a staff ele, with spare CC’s or slows on your bar (such as Water #4, Air #5 or Earth #4), use those to try and keep the big bubbles (with the bit orange crossed swords) away from him.

On Iron:

The Vet Trolls’ heal is “easily interruptible,” like that of Menders. You don’t even need to CC them to interrupt it, just hit them with direct damage.

Silver and Gold

  • For the ultimate experience, jump in as soon as the breach starts and pop the bubble on the left. When it’s stunned, prepare to pop the bubble on the right, but only when the second teragriff stops next to the bubble and just before it starts to charge. This will create a perfect timing where both teragriffs will hit this bubble and can be bounced between only 3 bubbles without ever hitting each other. Unfortunately, someone usually screws it up.
  • Don’t pop the bubbles early regardless of if you know what you’re doing. The charge can occasionally bug causing them to do a short charge or stand in place.

Mangler

  • The poison projectiles it shoots will bounce to a nearby target after hitting a target. If it hits a pustule, it will pop it.

Platinum

  • Popping bubbles near it will give it Poison Buildup. At 5 PB it’ll do a devastating AoE, however those ranging it from the very edge will not get hit.

It gains a stack of Poison Buildup every second that it sits in one of the poison AoEs created by the poison vents when you fail to kill them in time. The poison vents are created in the area next to it just prior to its teleport and only when below 80%.

Silver and Gold

  • The trails they leave do damage, don’t chase them.

Depending on what direction they’re going, you can hug the inner or outer wall to avoid the trail and even let them pass by you.

Good info on this thread.

I really hope the “No AOE at Red” comments will someday stop….

Some more info:

Mangler
The pustules explode if left unchecked, I’m not sure if the boss poison attacks have to hit them, or if they explode anyway, but they DO explode and cause a huge poison AOE field. THIS is the number one reason for wipes at Mangler, not his poison AOE. If multiple pustules are left unchecked and explode, they can cover the entire room with massive damage poison aoe fields.

Pustules are top priority, not the boss

Really hope that more people read this. I was absolutely shocked when I went there yesterday and everything failed. Did not think that was possible after the zone has been out so long.

Platinum: bring your mesmer. When he displays his large AoE-circle, immediately cast reflect on him before dodging to prevent being dragged towards him. He will kill himself due to the reflect much faster.

Same on mangler. Mesmers and Guardians should aim for mid lane, as that is usually the one to fight the mangler. Reflect is your friend here as well (and don’t forget to kill those pustels, they are the top reason this boss fails).

I had an argument with someone at Red Rock Bastion (husk) the other night who insisted not so much that AoE was bad but that the bubbles couldn’t and shouldn’t be popped, even after I had destroyed at least a couple of bubbles before they could reach the husk. As the OP says, the bubbles heal the husk if they reach the boss. So you have to pop the bubbles before they can get too close if at all possible (it’s not as easy as it sounds, as anyone who has done this particular boss knows!)

Another misinformation on the bubbles is that they pop when damaged (I read that a lot, together with the “no AOE”). The bubbles pop when they reach the boss, even when at full hit points.

The Mangler’s massive AoE attack is not actually an insta-down. Necros and Warriors at full health will survive it with about 5-10% of their health left over. Very high damage, but it is finite and survivable.

You only need about 15 people total if they do it correctly.
EDIT: For the Vinewrath. The Breach needs 20.

Actually, it doesn’t come down to that at all. Large groups will wipe if they don’t know what they’re doing, while small groups can be very fast and effective.

True. It all boils down to how efficient you can guide the players in the right direction and how well they listen and actually apply that information. Numbers may be a deciding factor but without communication amongst players, the chances are at least 50/50 in doing a successful run.

100% this.
My best and most enjoyable breach boss fightes were those where I had just a couple of other players besides me. ~5ppl exactly knowing what they are doing is so much superior to a 20-30 ppl zerg mindlessly spamming 1 of which 90% are dead after 1 minute.

Copper is actually faster with a SMALL group of people running extremely high condi builds. If you can cap bleeds, permapoison (a necro does it best), occasional or permaburning, high stacks of torment, as well as confusion (mesmers), copper melts pretty fast.

Copper is actually faster with a SMALL group of people

They’re all faster with a small group, unless a miracle happens and the entire zerg consists of min/maxed DPS focused pro players. But since Copper relies on conditions, it will always be best done with a small group that can max out the stacks. Scaling isn’t 1:1, so as long as everyone is carrying their own weight, more is always better. If not however, it’s far easier to carry only a few people, before the event starts to scale.

If you only bring 3-5 DPS geared players for example, you can easily kill any of the breach bosses in under 2 minutes. For example, I’ve seen one of the teragriffs die within a single bubble, with only 3 people.

Do not waste time on the mortars using the regular shot. Swap to Incendiary rounds and leave a trail of fire for the Mordrem to wade through.

Keep the AoE up at the point where the waves spawn from. You’ll get a few ticks in before they spawn, plus they just sit there for a few seconds.

I suppose that explains the person yesterday who was doing just that. I thought he was just an idiot who didn’t know how to use the mortar and was rolling my eyes at him the entire time.

Can’t say I’m a fan of taking away some of the defense firepower for your own selfish reasons of getting multiple boss credits though, and its not really like you get anything substancial from it anyway, just an extra mordrem part I assume.
