How to explain to devs that...
living story > fixing bugs
well, to make it simple
living story > all
Fixing all Charr bugs won’t give them any money. More RNG-boxes and mini’s do, so they are more important.

Be that as it may Anet reps (even Colin himself) have flat out said it’s not worth their time to fix all numerous issues with charr and their armor and weapons.
As far as I know the main hand weapon resizing is a new issue in the last 2 or so months. Either that or I just was completely oblivious to it for the past year which I don’t think I was.
Also other people started noticing it around the same time as me (see my sig).
I hope we can get these topics more attention so there’s a better chance to get at least maybe a few of the issues fixed.
2 playable builds on engi really?
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

Yet another missed opportunity: Engis should have been the one profession capable of gathering up some rocks and vines and bamboo and using it all to craft a weapon on the spot capable of one-shotting a kitten krait witch. But no. They’re alchemists with guns.
Ahem.
The charr problem seems on the surface similar to the klingon problem over in STO (which may or may not still exist; it’s been a long time since I played). The devs didn’t want to expend more than minimal energy on the klingons because the klingons weren’t popular in PVE and one of the big reasons the klingons weren’t popular was because they didn’t have as many options as the Feds, primarily because they’d been neglected by the devs who neglected them because they weren’t as popular as the Feds because…
My take on both situations: if they didn’t want to do it right, they shouldn’t have done it in the first place, but since they did, they should take the time and put forth the effort required to make it right.
Meh. Why try to fix problems when you could just add more and more and more and more to the game to try and keep the Content Locusts satisfied?
Four of the main reasons Charr are unpopular have nothing to do with bugs:-
1. They are UGLY.
2. Moving around on all 4’s is rubbish and can drive you daft with how annoying it is.
3. Charr are the worst race to jump with, Charr can’t jump.
4. They are too tall/big, present too much of a target and take up too much of the screen area, no matter how much you zoom out.
On the Engineer, I think your plain wrong, the Engineer since the few months of release has done nothing but improve as a character class and now is in a good place. If they get the 15 Oct balance changes, they are going to be in a very, very good place. Getting to the point where Engineers can be viewed as one of the best classes to play in GW2.

My charr did all jps in the game.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.

I didn’t know about any of the bugs, I just don’t like playing big characters. Most people I know who don’t want to play Charr is because of the size of the Charr race. /shrug
… it’s plethora of bugs with Charr was the main thing that made this race unpopular?
…and you came to this conclusion from a long official study based on a lot of objective data and tests.
How to explain people that…. their opinions are subjective speculation and don’t magically become objective facts just because they believe in them?

Engineer still has only one optimal build for pve, which is grenades. Oct balance changes will do nothing to change that.

Yea I’m not sure you can say that the bugs are the reason people dont play charr.
I didn’t even know about the bugs I just have no interest in playing what seems to be a primitive race of cow cat monster people that haven’t even learned to walk upright yet.

Grenades are still the optimal? Eww. Underwater, they’re awesome, of course, but having to manually ground target (fast ground targeting doesn’t work very well for me since you lose your cursor thanks to having to keep RMB held down so you can look around you to find targets and such) on every skill is horrible and makes me loathe playing Grenades with every fiber of my being.
Or have they finally done the sane thing and made grenades foe-targeted on land as they are underwater? (haven’t played my Engineer since November) EDIT: Just checked and it is indeed still the same old ground-targeted AOEs that make it a completely unplayable kit for me. Sad. Means I’m stuck with the flamethrower 100% of the time if I ever bother to load the Engineer again…

Stretched armor
ya, the horns, I realy want my horns to pop out under the mast under my charr…..
The above sentence did’t make sense…
what I was trying to say is
I want my charr’s Horns to stick out of his mask instead of cut off.

So basically this game is being “developed” by people who refuse to take responsibility for their actions. Lovely.

Have you thought that maybe it’s harder to fix bus when you actually have to go into the code itself, as opposed to creating content using tools, where little to no programming is needed?
Time is a river.

Just gonna start off by saying that doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense.
And secondly, even if what you say is somehow true, which it’s not. Why does it make difference how long or hard something is to fix? If there is a problem it should be fixed. Simple as that.
Anet has acknowledged the problem. They’ve admitted they don’t care to fix it. Which is just pure money grubbing laziness.
To be honest they should be completely embarrassed with that attitude and I agree with the person up above. If they aren’t going to fix the issues they should give everyone who has a charr a race change option and remove charr from the game as a playable race.
And I love my charr warrior, he’s got 90% of my play time. I feel sorry for the people who want Tengu to be the next playable race. They’re only asking to be disappointed.

And I love my charr warrior, he’s got 90% of my play time. I feel sorry for the people who want Tengu to be the next playable race. They’re only asking to be disappointed.
Let’s see, GW2 Tengu:
Legs too short? Check. Also kinda bowed…
Arms/shoulders too big? Check.
Upper torso too big/weird? Check.
Neck too long/thick? Check.
Tail that will clip most armors? Check.
Sounds about right.
Charr are incredibly poorly-designed. That’s it.
They’re not fun to look at – neither pretty nor threatening – they have stiff animation, they don’t feel any different, they have zero charm, and most armor looks awful on them.
WoW has a much more even distribution among its minority races. Gnomes, Trolls, Tauren, Worgen, and everything else share the even percentage of players (that’s only marginally less than people playing as generic elves/humans). And why’s that? Simply because they’re not simply re-skinned humans, they’re well thought-out and well-made.
I thought I’d main a Charr back when GW2 was nearing release, too. Shame.
They’re also the most akward race to do jumping puzzles on.
What we really need for that is a long-lasting Shrinking Elixer that doesn’t affect our movement traits or utilities in any way like regular tonics do.

While that’s technically true, it’s contextually false. If ArenaNet employs X people who make weapon and armor skins, and most (all?) of these are busy working on new weapon and armor skins for the Living Story (whether they’re available in-game or through the Gem Shop), then those are resources that could be but aren’t being used to address the issues with charr weapons and armor.

Use the asura tonics you get from CoE, if you don’t need to do combat that is :S

Thank you for getting what’s so so wrong with our profession I love to see it when other people realize just how bad Anet has made it for the engineer population since launch! Spot on man!
The clipping is very bad in Charr the camera is wonky it catches even in open world where there is no ceiling while jumping on things nothing above the head of the Charr but the camera does that zoom in thing like something’s there! If they start anywhere I’d suggest they start there first before any of the cosmetics!

Nope, I thought it was cool how they move around on 4 legs, they’re not ugly at all. They have awesome customizable features like fur patterns, colour, horns to make them look badazz. The reason I didn’t make a charr was because all the armor just does them no justice. If I could though, I would turn my Human Warrior into a Charr and even grind T3 again. But hell no am I leveling another character.

I hate playing grenades too but they are still the most optimal for pve. The oct update might make ground targeted skills a bit easier to use though. Specially the one where you click and at button release the skill will trigger.
It’s not the main thing that make the Charr unpopular. They are hideously designed regardless of their armor.
