How to farm Tomes of Knowledge?
They took them out of reward tracks?
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
They are in the PvP reward tracks. Or at least were 3 hours ago.
I just now got a tome of knowledge from a pvp reward track. Where did you hear that they were removed?
and took them out of the reward tracks.
They’re still in the dungeon tracks, which tracks have you been on that don’t have them?
ah they just aren’t listed in the summary of the items then…i looked on each individual item and it didn’t mention them in the summary like it usually does for the daily rewards
totally my bad
i’m not necessarily fond of pvp though, so i’d like to avoid that if possible anyway…..looking for a more pve way to do it, outside of dailies?
The big rewards are the only ones shown in sPvP reward tracks when you look at the overview. There are lesser rewards that you get as you progress. Do one match and look at the screen that pops up. It shows the small rewards as it fills the bar.
For every chest you see in the overview on the PvP panel, you get a tome right before.
All the reward tracks have 8 tiers, so you get 8 tomes by finishing a reward track in sPvP.
and you just have to win a match to get a point towards the track?
Sadly, I know of no real way to get them in PvE, save the daily login rewards.
If you do go after them in SPvP, I suggest you go after the daily achievements. Each one you do will give you one or two bottles of SPvP “EXP” or whatever it’s called there. Ten of those will move you to one box on a track, so it should be 80 for a full track. It sounds like a lot, but you’ll also be advancing by playing, so they just help it to go faster.
I also suggest you do the PvE dailies. They tend to give one or two “Writs of Experience”. 20 of these add up to one level.

No.
You just have to PLAY to advance the reward track. Now, playing well and winning will advance it faster, but even if you don’t do well at all and never win, you’ll still advance the track and get rewards. It’ll just take longer.
[Edit] Just throw together a build in the SPvP area, select the reward track you want, then jump into a “practice” game. You’ll get a feel for it from there soon enough, and anyone taking Practice games seriously has far more problems than team mates that are new to the game. So don’t worry about being in over your head. (Oh, and if it asks if you’ll volunteer to change teams to balance things out, always say “YES”! If it does change you, then you get the points for winning no matter which team wins.)

thanks for the help everyone…maybe ill do some sPvP afterall
Honestly, if you don’t want to really focus on PvP at all and just want the rewards, then I’d suggest grabbing a couple of friends and looking for private maps with “daily/dailies/farm” in their name/description; go there and farm wins in relative peace, be sure to explain to people what’s going on if they come in and start behaving like it’s a normal match.
As long as you aren’t doing this in ranked games it’s not violating the ToS; also it’s preferable to have people do this in private maps than in games that people are taking (sometimes too) seriously.
The reward chest from the daily fractal (the one for scale 1 – 10 or 11 – 20 etc.) also gives out a tome of knowledge -

The Family Deuce. Asuran Adventure Specialists.
When you’re new to sPvP, switch into observer mode and view the build/traits of the people who are beating you to a pulp You can take a screenshot and then look at it later to get ideas on what builds work well.
Or just cheese it with a friend while slumming it in someone’s custom arena.

- Log in rewards
- Dailies in PvE sometime have it (fractals)
- Dailies in WvW sometimes have it (keep capture)
- PvP Reward tracks
- Kuatophile or whatever it’s called – Spoon collector give you 3 Tomes of Mentorship (same thing just called differently)
- Finishing personal story gives you 5 Tomes of Mentorship (same thing just called differently)
Just remember there is a limit to progression per day within the custom arena/practice.

That should tell you everywhere you can possibly get one. Looks like its mostly daily logins and pvp though
Step 1: Log in
Step 2: Profit
Anet made it pretty easy now… I think you get 11-18 a month. If you want to level an alt, pop a celatration booster, and an xp booster, and a streak booster, and a birthday booster and head to EotM. You can hit 80 in 2-3 days, much faster then you could farm tomes.
I personally hate to grind out maps, and quests so I have learned a easy way to get training tomes.
There is a hidden merchant in Lion Arche, that will trade candy for tomes. (50) per one I believe. This items are normal crafting stuff, and can be purchased or crafted for basically for copper. He is near the west end of lion Arche.
Another way I found was to do sPvp. And be greatful log in bonus gives around 20-40 tomes a month so you just need to wait and take it slowly.

I looked for this merchant and the only one I found was Sonder The Seller who sells 1 tome for 300 festival tokens. Are you perhaps thinking of him? He also sells consumables such as Dragonfly cupcakes for pieces of Zhaitaffy.
ANet may give it to you.
