How to get cool looking armor?
Level to 80, then go to the dungeon vendors in Lion’s Arch and preview the cosmetic options in the second tab.
Glad I could help!
This will show you where and how to get all the armors.
Some can, some can’t.
Depends on the look you are going for.

A good way to get a look at armor in game is to go into the Mists and preview it from the PvP locker. As far as getting a look that you want, you may have to get some transmutation stones and use those to make the armor with the stats you want have the look you want.
Fill hearts and see the armor they have for sale. At that level you should be getting some (IMHO) nice looking heavy armor, but the downside is that you’re most likely to be switching gear frequently until you get to 80, so unless you have several transmutation stones handy, I wouldn’t fret that much with looks yet. Note that currently the highest tier of armor is exotic (orange), so usually people buy the armor with the stats you want, then the armor with the looks you want (which can even be green) then use transmutation crystals (from gem store, can be bought with gold too) to get one’s looks with the other’s stats.
Once you reach 80 then you can look at different skins and see what you want. Some ways to get skins:
- Doing dungeons. Each explorable dungeon give you tokens, you can use them to buy a set of armor and weapons themed to that dungeon (you’d need to do it lots of times for a full set, though). All the dungeon vendors are in Lion’s Arch, in Fort Marriner, near where the practice dummies are, you can talk to them and preview their armors there. They’re exotic quality, so if the vendor with the armor you want has the stats you want, you might not need a transmutation crystal.
- Hearts: There are several sets of armor you can get from regular hearts, but for a full set you probably need to chase lots of hearts from the same area. If you go to the armor gallery for heavy (since you mentioned guardian) the sets named “Dark” “Heavy” “Pit Fighter” just to name a few are available as hearts. Bear in mind, though, they’re usually green quality so you might want to use transmutation stones or crystals on them.
- Your order. Each order (vigil, whispers, priory) has one full set of armor you can buy, they’re rare quality so you might want to transmute to better stats later, though rare is more than enough for most of the content of the game right now.
- Orrian Temples. There are several temples in Orr (3 areas between levels 70-80), when they’re open you can buy a full set of exotic armor with karma (43k karma a piece), check the guide on dulfy’s (google dulfy temple armor) so you can see which one you might want. Opening the temple usually is a long event chain, though, but there are websites where you can check on which server they’re open and guest there. All of them look the same, so you can mix and match pieces of different temples for their stats.
- Cultural armor and weapons: Each race has 3 sets of cultural weapons, tailored to look fit for the race (so, for example, norn will be heavy in furs, sylvari made of leaves, asura looks technological and so on). Be aware that the tier 3 (the best looking one usually… though not always) is expensive, you’d need 119 gold for a full set, but nothing prevents you from getting tiers 1 or 2 if they look good to you and transmute them, or even mix and match pieces from different tiers.
Also bear in mind that you can also mix and match different sets. My guardian, for example, is wearing vigil pants and shoulders, shirt from a dungeon (CoE), radiant gloves from achievements, heritage boots and so on.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it
