Your forum search bar only works if you KNOW the exact thread you are looking for – otherwise it is “no match found” or something pops that has nothing to do with the topic. It is time to replace the 8088 era search bar with a industry common standard “word” based search bar.

An old guy, I do not crawl the forums like a stalker. I am just one of the silent majority that finds the forum to be a pain in the…. well, you know what I mean.

Until then, I will probably be creating new duplicate threads all the time.

So much this. I have tried so many times to find threads about something only to meet the “no match found”. What is it even there for if you can’t search anything but what you already know the title of?

Case in point. Took my son’s account and entered the following:
“How to” – no action on listing
“How to help” – Precursor Crafting. I don’t get it…
“How to help US” – “No results”
“How to help Us give” – back to listing
“How to help Us give YOU” – still listing
“How to help Us give YOU good” – still listing
“How to help Us give YOU good feedback” – still listing

The last search was the entire title of the thread, but did not pop up.

It’s a workaround rather than a solution but it does work.

Yeah, that workaround exists, but I mean, really? I have never seen another forum which doesn’t have some kind of search function, so I don’t know what the problem here is

I’m not sure why it’s an issue either
either "SELECT * FROM threads WHERE title = ‘whatever’
or explode ( ‘\n’,search string)
Select bla bla where title like ‘word’ or like ‘combination of words’

If your db is indexed properly it shouldn’t be an issue…

unless there is something WAY bigger wrong in either code or db…

There is a web page some person made for search each forum with Google I use this some times.

And it’s not just this forum. So many other forums have rubbish searches. I often use the Google “site:” thing on them too.

Google’s superhero power is making sense of my search regardless of the garbage I tryped .

I just go by what Gaile post from my link. She said the do not work with company any more. What it means by partner who knows. Maybe Anet forgot to change that page.

From what I recall, they are no longer talking with the people who offered the forums. They cannot fix or update anything with it. Maybe once the community simmers down and hot fixes aren’t need they could try something with a new partner.
