Q:

I know that you can pick 2 weapons that will be switched together when you click a bottom, how do you do that?

Elementalists do not have weapon switch. You can only have one weapon set equipped at a time.

Swapping weapons as an elementalist:

1. Get out of combat.
2. Open up the equipment screen.
3. Equip new weapon set.

If you want to be able to use more than just 5 base weapon skills, wait for the various attunements to unlock (F1-F4).

Currently Elementarists and Engineers (Revenant will probably have this mechanic too) can’t swap weapons in combat like the other classes.
If you want to use different weapons you need to do what Rognik said.

Charter Vanguard [CV] – HoD
Bardy Belzebuson – Ranger Sir Belzebu – Herald
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

5. Open chat and complain about the need for build templates

Why would you need to switch weapons as an elementalist?
You have 16 active skills,30 if you use 3 elemental weapons as utility.

Elementalist can’t switch on the fly between melee and ranged like other classes, which seems like it would be important for a paper class. You use D/D, you can’t go range on demand. You go scepter, you’ve got no sustained damage.

Attunements instead let you switch between power/healing/condition/control rather than melee/range.

Granted, Conjures help a lot to supplement your weakness but still – weird design.

because I am about to fight something that reflects projectiles and I don’t want a bunch of stuff bouncing back in my face(or my allies). More of an issue with staff since scepter has fire/air and dagger has air/earth to avoid that.

or the reverse, some mobs I just don’t want to deal with in melee with D/D.

16?
you could have more…as the effects of glyphs will change according to attunement?

so with staff *5 skills *4 attunements , 4 glyphs *4 and 1 conjure weapon (another 5) skills you’ll have 41 even…. oh and another 8 based on which elementals you happened to have cast… so 49 possibilites…

I run 2 glyphs, 1 conjure weapon and 2 arcane skills but it still leaves me with a decent amount of choices… (39)

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

There is an important element being overlooked when calculating the number of skills available.

Cool down. Each weapon comes with 20 weapon skills (4 elements and 5 skills per element). Each with their own CD. I can use weapon skill 2 for fire, switch to air and not have to wait for a CD on skill 2. There are utility skills (glyphs) that change based on your attunement but the CD remains even after switching attunements.

So I would only consider that to be 24 skills available to you where 4 of those can have their effect changed.

What, Staff are mostly AoEs, except auto attack.
and DD is never a melee weapon, it’s mid range with huge AoEs as well.

You pretty much pick what kind of ele you want to play. D/D, staff, S/D, etc. Your weapon swapping is essentially your elemental swapping. Each weapon gives you 20 different abilities, far more than any other class (engineer is close with their kits). Would simply be unfair if you could swap weapons in addition to elements.

Pretty much gotta get OOC if you want to weapon swap.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

well all skills have cooldown, even though I understand what you men with the cooldowns on glyphs I still know the choice is important, you might want all the glyphs in earth for a blinding aoe on storms and 2 tanky elementals or you might want a lesser fire ele, a greater water ele and a icestorm, or just 2 ranged lightning elementals and a lightning storm… The choice does matter ( a lot)… even though you’ll need to wait out the full recharge… I would love a trait which would make glyphs function like handheld weapons with 4 independant CD’s but it could be too OP…. Just think about an ele casting 8 elementals in a very small timeframe….
Even if they would replace each other on seperate cd’s it would allow for almost perma up elementals even from the elite… and allow for 4 storms, tbh I think the skills would be a lot more viable then… just the cd’s…

But the weapons being not swappable is ok…

I still think they should give Eles 2 sets and allow swapping out of combat only.

But then again things like being able to save builds and swap builds by pressing a button out of combat would be awesome for all classes. (Which is why its never going to happen)

I personally gave up on using my ele for anything but boss events because not being able to change weapons sucks. Especially because 1-2 of your attunements are usually worthless depending on your build.

This is really important. While you may theoretically be able to have 39 different weapon skills, each attunement is highly specialized.

Earth attunement to a power build is much less useful than another class either being able to alternate between two power weapons, or a melee and ranged weapon.
