since i think this one is a cheat, but since you are not able to see more then 1sec its kinda hard to report. 8+ players trying to cap wvw resource point,1 enemy tief perma stealth holds the point. without leaving the circle(full of aoe spamming enemy’s) he managed to perma stealth ~5+ min.how to report such a chase ?

Edit: main point is not if this is a cheat, but how to report someone you can not see and where to report it?

It’s not cheating it’s a bug and they are working on it, banning someone because they are playing normally isn’t the right thing to do.

It’s not a cheat nor a bug. It’s just clever use of the mechanics provided to them. They aren’t hacking or exploiting to do it. They are just using the skills they have together to stay in stealth. Might not of been intentional from Anet, but they aren’t breaking any rules by doing it.

As such, if you keep reporting them for doing nothing wrong, it could lead to you being banned instead.

Just because anyone can do it doesn’t make it any less clever.

Stealth does NOT provide immunity from damage, so if you really did manage to saturate the area with AOE and he just wouldn’t die, then it may have been an exploiter using the stealth mechanics issues as cover for actual cheating.

no Cluster Bomb,no Smoke Screen, with only up to 10ppl+ near the rc point no culling

you could see his “de-stealth” effect(black transparent rings) -> stealth again(no effect like Blinding Powder etc),sometimes Shadow Refuge(but this was instant under big aoe fire)

is there a way to get the player name from chat log ?

Its not so much the abilities but add that to the rendering bug and waala perma stealth works for all three sides so it’s not a bug but it is a bug

If they ever get the rendering thing fixed maybe theif’s won’t be perma stealthed

Not so much ‘cheating’ as it is ‘abusing a poorly implemented mechanic’. A mixture of rendering issues and peculiar design decisions. And no, it’s not particularly clever.

ANet needs to fix the rendering issues ASAP. There’s no point in changing stealth until then, because no one knows how thief stealth actually works until it’s working properly.

It doesn’t matter because it’s not a cheat, it’s just utilizing what Arenanet has provided. If you don’t perform an action while you are stealthed, you do not get the cooldown from going stealth.

You can post about it on the Thief forums if you think it should be different (probably,) but calling it a cheat or a bug and acting like people who do it need to be reported is not going to get you any respect for your opinion.

A Thief can perma-stealth by using Cloak and Dagger only while they are unstealthed. IE, attack someone with CnD, wait for stealth to fall off, use CnD again, immediately restealth. It’s not a rendering issue—Thieves are actually able to remain stealthed 90% of the time+ using this technique so long as they regenerate enough initiative to continue using it (between that and utilities to fill gaps, anyway) and as long as they do not attack while they are stealth, as doing so incurs the stealth cooldown.

It’s not a mystery.

Unfortunately i believe culling is here to stay.

I have been watching thieves lately in pve they use heartseeker about 4 or 5 times and disappear. Then see then all of a sudden later in other places they appear to gather then all of a sudden they are gone. They do not use a move at all they just disappear watching the area there is no such thing as a perma stealth thief at one point the time will run out and with a nice field of view as a thief myself they should appear a bit away in any direction sometime soon, but they don’t. There is also no way they can go stealth by using heartseeker four to five times. Something is not right they are either bots or they have found a new exploit which the devs need to look into hardcore. If found out that it is either one they should be banned just like before. Like iowen says there is no time to report them because they disappear so fast.

Maybe i do not understand the stealth thing that well but something is not totally right only 3 skills I see use true stealth unless you are fighting and one you have to stand there for a few seconds to stay in stealth to move. First is of course Hide in shadows which lasts for 3 seconds shadow refuge can last around 9 seconds total and blinding powder lasts another 3 seconds. thats a total of maybe 15 seconds of stealth and each has a move to use them or animation using them. The recharge even with 20% reduction in them is still way too high to make anyone perma stealth.

That is my take on it like I said it is either a new style of bot or an exploit that is actually worse than the first exploit for Karma weapons anyone caught using it needs to be taken out. Lets make this game honest as it can be so people will play it for fun not for profit.

And with cloak and dagger that needs a target to hit first before it can be used and the range is dagger range it can be an escape but its not perma no way it can be.

Thiefs are just (ab)using Combos. Just like any other class that can combo with itself.

Black Powder (Smoke Field) + Heartseeker (Leap Finisher) = Combo (Stealth)
(not my video)

So no, no exploit. Just “clever use” of a"grey area" as Stealth stacks intensity (and should not stack at all).

“There is also no way they can go stealth by using heartseeker four to five times.”

Actually there is a way to go stealth using heartseeker. With dagger/pistol use blackpowder (smoke field) + heartseeker (leap finisher) + quick about face + 2xheartseeker. Repeat as initiative allows.

You have to turn off autotargeting to be sure that heartseeker doesn’t hit anything.

Viola, near perma-stealth with the right traits.

You will cap at 12 seconds. Hardly gamebreaking, let alone during that time thieves can’t do anything since they wasted all of their initiative on being stealthed. Same thing with CnD chaining.

I swear I will leave this game not because of Anet, mechanics or gear tiers, but because of this community.
