My friend finally was able to get his password fixed after 2+ years of back and forth conversations with ANet. He wants to create a new character on my server, but we dont see a way to do so. He only has a level 20ish on the server he is currently in, but wants to start fresh on mine. How does he do that. I see a server transfer option, but that costs 1800 gems, which I dont think he should have to pay starting fresh. Is there any other way of doing this?

He can delete his level 20 character and switch servers for free. Servers are account bound.

He must wait for the server to be not full, maybe on off hours or just being lucky. Your server does not matter much, unless he really wants to do WvW with you.

Also, he wants to come to my server, which shows full. How often are they full, or will he ever be able to join my server?

Your friend can delete all characters and transfer his account at no cost. Make sure he puts all non-soulbound items in the bank, as all account-wide/bound items will transfer with the account.

As for Full servers, he can not transfer to it until and unless it becomes Very High or lower. This could happen at any time…or not for a very long time.

Remember, except for WvW, server does not matter to be able to play together as long as you are both in the same region.

Unless you plan to play in wvw, he could just stay on his current server. The megaserver system allows you to easily play on the same pve maps and the same pvp lobby.

Hes able to transfer servers, but will have to wait I guess to join Fort Aspenwood

How often do the servers refresh? Also, how often do the full servers become accessible again?
