Those who got a chance to demo Heart of Thorns were the people who preordered. Now that it has been announced that everyone including F2P gets a chance to demo the expansion pack, how is it going to work?

Are you going to update the client on August 11th?

If I remember correctly everyone got the update for the HoT beta as well – you just couldn’t access the map unless you’d pre-purchased it.

I’m pretty sure there’s only actually 1 version of the game and everyone has all of the same files on their computer. This is why you don’t need to log out and update your game when buying Living Story chapters, expansions or things like the Mistlock Sanctuary pass.

Official clarification on this would be appreciated.

I would say no. It will only be so players can take a look at the expansion pack in a very controlled environment.

the demo will probably be what we see on the stream, or even smaller. I remember HoT was the part in silverwaste till the cave before mag jungle.

The demo will be the first story instance, the first open-world map, and the raptor mount.

There will be a second demo where we get to try out the elite specs in PvP and WvW. Date hasn’t been cleared.
