I just finished making Howler after quite some time and I am pretty disappointed with the audio and effects. I feel like the wolf that appears after using a skill should last a little bit longer and the sound of the skills need improving. I want Howler to actually sound like a wolf howling. Currently it is just a super faint sound of howling that is drowned out by the normal sound of the skill you use. This is more of an issue with the Tempest than I have seen with other classes. I know you guys are putting time into working on a few updates for some of the items as well as creating new ones. Just don’t leave Howler out of the loop! I do not regret making this item, but it would be nice to see some updates/improvements for one of my favorite items in the game. Thanks!

Agreed! And when it is used by Rangers (who already have a howling sound-effect with WH #5) it should augment that effect with more wolves.

I only have a few core legendary weapons

Eternity
frostfang
howler

and they tend to be rather underwhelming after you spend some time with them. Although I admit bias, I definitely think older legendaries need to be revised rather than releasing newer ones. I understand that creating something new and pushing it is generally the direction games go in, but some minor touches would mean the world for guys like me.

The sunrise and twilight swords are nice, but the upgrade to eternity seems like a punch in the face. You essentially lose one legendary so that your sword can tell time and get a glow at the hilt. I think it was reasonable at release, but the transmute system makes the swap rather meh.

Frostfang has some cool visual features. However, you really have to zoom in to notice them. The effects are also often overshadowed by the environment as there seems to be stuff floating around frequently. The weapon needs some sort of pop.

Howler seemed really cool from the screenshots. However, the duration of the wolf is very short and often missed. The sound, that should be the main selling point is also short and often lost in the noise of combat and environment.

The changes to bow strings makes me hopeful, but that was a very specialized case.

yeah, howler needs a major update. The sound effects need to be more distictive. Maybe more like it was before when you used a skill even afterwards the howling would continue for awhile. Perhaps instead of seeing a partial wolf head that vanishes within half a second you should make a full ghostly wolf/wolves flocked and howling that then run forward and vanish into mist. And the foot prints are non existent. They should be large ghostly wolf paw prints when you walk. I do though, like the mist/fog that surrounds us that should stay.

Agreed, but a couple effects could be added, or the current effects strengthened too.

I like having my Howler, but yeah, totally agree with this thread. The howls are faint in comparison to the actual horn noise (perhaps replace the horn sound with a louder howl?), and the visual doesn’t travel with the horn, so using it while on the move just looks weird.

Many alts; handle it!
