Huge amount of people wanting to play.
The combat is still doesn’t make sense.
Silly spells that say things like “Puts random debuffs on the target every second”. Who even knows or cares about things like that.
Huh? You’re going to have to expand on what you mean, because right now it’s kind of vague.
As for the gear treadmill existing only in late game (it’s more of a step than a treadmill), what do you call replacing your gear as you level?
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
The gear treadmill exists only in the late game.
What?
/15char
Huh? The combat is the best part of this game, and you upgrade your gear throughout the whole game…
wrong forums maybe?
What masses who were driven away? Ill put my hand up and say the direction is causing my interest to wane, but where are the facts to support a mass exodus or a waiting mass of players on the virge of playing but wont because of the “combat system”?
Allota people came ta GW2 because it wasn’t gonna have a gear treadmill, it isn’t “missing” it was never supposed to be there.
And I don’t know what you got against the combat system, but it’s nice to actually be able to move around and feel active in MMO combat instead of having to stand in one place and push buttons while eating a taco. Mmmmm … Tacos …
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
There’s a gear treadmill? Dang, I must have missed it while buying my new amulet with laurels I got for doing dailies.
Basically another topic asking for the Holy Trinity of DPS/tank/healer.
Stop reading this and go vote Evon instead.

Dafaq?
2 things Gw2 did extremely well: combat overall and the 0 gear treadmill (ascended is still not needed except for fractal, exotics are enough for everything.)
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.

I suggest reading the OP’s posting history – he’s not complaining that there is gear treadmill at the end of the game, rather that there is no gear treadmill since the beginning of the game. Many of his posts mention WoW, too, for the records.

post makes very little sense. Fail Troll? a_a

Wait… he actually wants a gear treadmill?
If ever I needed one of those “Not sure if serious” images, now is the time.
Actually I don’t think that Anet needs to swallow their pride, because I don’t think they’re that prideful. And I don’t think you appreciate the steps forward this game has made to the genre.
Not to say there aren’t issues, because there are…but issues an all, this game is far ahead of most MMOs from my point of view.
Am I the only thinking that this guy claiming no one knows or cares about conditions and skills that apply them goes a long way towards explaining the earlier claim that combat makes no sense?
I know straight DPS is more popular at the moment but if you haven’t taken the time to at least find out what conditions do then I’m not surprised you don’t understand the rest of the combat system either.
Also I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone claim they like the idea of the bi-weekly Living Story updates but are put off playing the game by the combat system and lack of a gear treadmill. If anything it’s completely the other way around – the core mechanics are appealing but content that’s in the game for 2 weeks then gone forever makes playing sound like too much of a chore.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I’d like to know what poll he’s apparently getting his info from. Huge amount of people ‘want’ to play, implies that while they want to, and have access, they can’t. His whys…
Combat doesn’t make sense… Huh? confused What do you mean it doesn’t make sense? You hit 1, and you auto attack. You use the other skills on your bar as they make tactical sense. How is this really any different than other game?
Gear treadmill…just say no. Many of us are here precisely because we do not want gear treadmills. In fact, the addition of ascended, which set a precedent for potential gear treadmill cause huge push back from their community, and while its truly not necessary in anything outside of fractals (for now), people still growl about it. So much so, that I have seen it mentioned in other threads that Anet may not do any additional ascended gear. I have no valid source for this, but it has yet to be seen.
Ok some of the wording on the skills is a little iffy. Yes, it could use some adjustment for clarity. (Although, really its not hard to figure out what a skill is doing if you bother to pay attention) That’s a polish thing, they are working on that stuff. We do get some polish in each update. However, do feel free to toss them a report on anything you find to make sure they know that you feel its an issue. It may be on their list of things to address, it may not be.
It is hard to interpret. But, I gather that he likes bi-weekly updates, feels combat makes no sense, and wants more in the way of a gear treadmill.
For the record, I’ve long advocated for a longer development cycle to foster quality content (concepts) and code, do believe combat could use some work, and would like to see vertical progression removed from the game. I’m not sure I would want to play with all those people wanting to play the game.
They bought the game when it was hyped. They have access and these Bi-weekly updates are starting to look rather attractive.
The fatal flaw?

These bi-weeklies have potential to make this game great. However they do need to swallow their pride and fix what drove away the masses in the first place.
There’s so much to fix but before they can they have to admit these problems exist. Not really sure that’s going to happen at this point.

Lol, that’s kind of funny. I get the daily just from playing the game. It’s free stuff. Before I sign off for the day, I’ll take a look and maybe have to grind out an ore node or two to finish up. Boy is that tiring. In fact, I better go lay down.
its their mini updates people should dislike, not random boons… With their mini updates they haven’t added anything else but mini this and mini that, nothing substantial or something that keeps me logging in 1 week after their crappy update.

I would think that we’re going to get that quality now that they’re improving the Living Story developers.
Colin said that they have a total of 4 teams that rotate, each team getting 2 releases in a month to release their content. This in turn would mean that each team is actually getting 3 months to develop their 1 month of content. That’s not so bad.

What I understand from this is that the skill tool-tips are vague, give us an option to turn tool-tips off(wish we had the GW1 UI manipulation in GW2).
