So while destroying the tower of nightmares there’s a bit of text where Scarlet writes that humans are always in the way. Does she imply the crown pavilion? There was a massive gaping hole there before. Do we know what was there? Could that particular place be the reason divinity’s reach was build there ( Correct me if it’s been specified otherwise).

Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling…makes no difference.
The degree is arbitrary. The definition’s blurred.
If I’m to choose between one evil and another, I’d rather not choose at all.

The Canthan district used to be there. As you may already know, Divinity’s Reach is divided into several districts, some of them assigned to refugees from the other continents.

The Canthan District however was removed at the last minute before release because Arenanet got complaints about it from asian countries. So they removed it and created the large hole.

^ this. If the world would be better if we humans weren’t on it, then we’re doing something wrong and should collectively admit it… Won’t happen, but that’s a different story..

They haven’t fully revealed Scarlet’s intentions, but, from what little I can figure, she went out of her way to kitten off the humans and then dragged them and everyone who helps them into a war of attrition fighting guerrilla warfare, luring allied armies against strongholds and pitting them against “axis” forces only to slip away at the end, having achieved whatever success she desired (generally something she used their combined talents to create). Each time, she brings forces together that compliment one another, who believe by working together and with her that they may achieve superiority, but in the end, its all smoke and mirrors and when the pain train comes, she’s left the station and disappeared with her prize.

She’s tied to the dragons in some way, and its been theorized that she’s trying to tap the “ley lines” of dragon energy to either revive or strengthen a dragon (probably the next dragon we are going to fight a campaign against in game. In truth, she herself may BE a dragon. The name Scarlet makes me think Primordius, but… that’s all just my theory based on what I’ve seen. It gives her motive and means and explains most of her actions. She WATCHED us take Zaitan down… She knows she needs the airships to counter the remaining air fleets from the final Z-day attack (hence, the aetherblades). With a far more exhaustible supply of troops (destroyers?) than Zaitan, she’d have to play it smart, make alliances herself and exhaust the allied armies using critical strikes to both further her destructive plans and keep herself defended or out of view entirely. And, a sylvari (Treehearne) led the final attack on the Z-man with the pale tree’s support, so her choice of a sylvari form could be an association from that. All just walking through theory, but fun to think about.

If I was writing this, I’d want a “HOLY KITTEN” moment to hook folks in, where if they looked back over the whole story, it would all suddenly make sense. It would require months of “details” for us to see, but overlook because they either aren’t important, or aren’t tied to anything of particular meaning. Then, we’d go on a final “chase” to capture her and back her against a wall, but that would be a part of her plan, and our ambush of her becomes a downright massacre of our own forces as she reveals her true goal and possibly her true form. Bonus points if she kills off some of the “good characters” where only the hero (us) can rise up and carry the torch forward to end the very direct threat of a dragon and her minions.

but that’s just me.

What did ANET do when the sheer mass of the event ZERG was too much for the server to support?

NCSoft didn’t want the game to copy real-world asian culture because they were afraid it would then be labeled an ‘asian’ MMO. They’ve never said exactly why but I would bet it’s because being labeled as such has a negative connotation because of the massive amount of grindy pay-to-win ‘asian’ mmos that have been flooding the market for years.

Ironic as NCSoft owns and operates a few of the worst of those MMOs.

That doesn’t even make sense. Why would 5-10 asian houses in the corner of a big city make the whole game asian.

It would be hilarious if they really removed some Asian styled houses so they wouldn’t appear to be a grindy Asian mmo, but then put the grind and rng from grindy Asian mmos regardless.

I’ve been there with my guildies. There were some strange structures and spikes.

Humans are a ‘weird’ species. They are aliens that came from another world, and were given powerful gifts by the gods themselves, in the form of innate powers similar to the ones the gods have, and even the capacity of containing the power of a god themselves. If Scarlet is aiming to get the power a god could have, a human would definitely be in the way.

And, well, all human settlements are either on top of a dragon or cross a lay line.
Orr was on top of Zhaitan’s main power source, the Crystal desert and Ascalon were in Khalkratorric’s magic channels.
There’s a freaking giant dragon head under Kaineng too! It looks like a stature, but so did Primordius when Asura built the Central Transfer Chamber around him!
It looks like humans were attracted to those spots as much as dragons.

NCSoft has been a shareholder for many years but they did not become the majority shareholder until June of 2012. You’ll find the same information on any other site where you care to look.

However (unlike you) when challenged I decided to do some research and double-check my facts. I found that my initial posting was actually incorrect, ANets investors qualms with the Cantha district were in fact due to offense taken to mixing asian cultures. My mistake, I had been told otherwise.

As others have stated, NCSoft is not a shareholder in Anet. Anet was an independent company that was purchased by NCSoft before the release of GW1. At that point, Anet is wholly owned under the umbrella of it’s parent company NCSoft.

Nexon is a shareholder of NCSoft, which owns Anet.

I meant Nexon, good gosh I get those stupid names mixed up each time I get on this subject :P. Nexon is now a significant enough shareholder in Arenanet (15% majority shares of NCSoft)to be considered having majority ownership of GW2. However, that did not happen until last year. I really don’t even know anything abut NCSoft, believe this is the first game I’ve played by them, but I have played Nexon games I cannot say I’m a fan.
