Please remove cripple from hyenas. You already get slowed down when they hit you anyway. It’s just frustrating. Even on my warrior using “Charge” I just can’t stand it.

I don’t know what’s the point of this. Is it to annoy players? Because this is in no way challenging. It’s just frustrating.

Maybe there are some players who enjoy getting crippled every 1 or two minutes while running on the map. Maybe they’re even really into getting pushed back by randomly spawning teragriffs when they try to open chests. I personally don’t and I hope the majority doesn’t enjoy it neither.

Hyenas are rather easy to avoid by running past them. Same counts for any other “melee” mob.

Yes, you can dodge them. Are you telling me that it was designed to teach players how to dodge? Because I’m pretty good at dodging, and I still get hit now and then.
It’s kind of genius, actually. If you won’t dodge, you will get annoyed to death.

Yes, the cripple sucks. But it is part of their build/skill set.
It is a matter of learning how do deal with the existing situation, adapting and moving forward.
The hyenas should not have a skill taken away just because it is annoying to players.
The player needs to adapt to/around them.

I know how to deal with it. I can’t always deal with it. Maybe I shouldn’t, but I feel like this particular skill isn’t needed on this map. It’s a big map, it doesn’t have too many waypoints, meaning you have to travel on foot. I wouldn’t imagine anything more cruel than including things that slow you down if you make a mistake of dodging too early or too late.
Apparently it’s just me having problem with it. It just feels like a zubat cave in Pokemon all over again to me.

Then it’s a bad skill of mob. A bad design choice. They aren’t exactly deadly, so there’s no point running. I know I can dodge it. I can’t always time it well enough. The point of my thread is to get rid off these abominations, or at least this effect.

yeah dodge it, and if you fail be sure you have some sort of condi removal, and well remove the cripple and continue on if you really really really cant be bothered to just plain out kill them, most classes with proper gear should be able to kill them in 2-3 skill uses or so

Well i ahve absolutely no problems dealing with them all the few times it happen, and sound like im not alone, so sound to me you dont truely know how to deal with effectively. And sorry but SW and Dry Top are among the smallest maps in the world. if not smallest (not counting main cities ofc), yes the WP are few and far between but then open up the skritt caves if you want fast travel around SW

Sounds to me you dont know well enough to dodge, cause they are freaking easy to dodge (or avoid getting in aggro range of in the first place)

My experience tells me you are extremely wrong at this assumption. And in your case as you admitted you don’t always dodge them succesfully so additional training can only make you better.

Not everyone knows how to dodge by level 80, believe me, if they did we wouldnt have to tell people to WP when dead as often as we do. They add to the map by making it more deserty, in GW hyenas live in the deserts of the world so it makes sense for them to be there too.

Monsters attack in patterns. I don’t need to know how to dodge hyenas. They don’t deal any damage. They are just there to annoy you. Dodging hyenas won’t teach you how to dodge other mobs. The timing is completely different, so I have no idea what are you talking about and I have a feeling you don’t know what you’re talking about too.

Ideally they would create a Silverwastes Map with no enemies so that chest farming was much faster. Its too hard to do with all the enemies slowing me down from keeping up with the zerg.

I agree. I’m far too busy to bother waypointing long distances or adjusting my direction slightly to easily avoid random mob aggro. Please give us another NPE that removes all CC from open world mobs. Nerfing Orr wasn’t nearly enough.

dodges, blocks, mobility skills that clear cripple on warriors, blinds…right.

And this is why i use them on my ranger as well. Calls in second Hyena and then pop my hounds of balthazar. heheheheh

You are the one exaggerating everything(Feels like a cave of zubats. Two dodges one hundred hyenas, etc) We are not. The hyenas are fine, they are different, removing their cripple would make them like a weaker wolf. There is no reason to change them, sorry.

It’s the attitude of “make everything easier because I don’t like it” that’s irritating. It’s already easy as hell to avoid pretty much all open world mobs. Making them as dangerous as ambients for the rare occasion that you aggro one is an unnecessary and overkill nerf.

The point of hyenas with crippled is the same as any other enemy with crippled: dodge or avoid the crippling attack in some way, or fight them to get rid of them.

They are there to slow you down in places where people may go around too fast. Like the iron mines in Brisban.

PAY—ONCE—UNLOCKS—ARE—ALWAYS—BETTER.

Here’s the problem: You’re asking for something because you have not learned how to deal with it. Its not like this mechanic makes traversing the map impossible. It makes you have to be mindful of how you traverse the map and think about the skills/traits you use to do so.

Add to that the fact that MANY others have learned how to deal with it and it just seems more like a L2P issue than anything else.

See, its like this: I used to rage about thieves in WvW. perma-stealth super ganking machines they were. until i sat down and played one exclusively for a few months. i learned their rotation and the timing of said rotation AND i learned how other people countered me. When I went back to playing my mains I started wrecking those same thieves I had issues with.

every single time? meh probably not by 80%+ surely you can, and those times you fail, you use your condi removal if it really ticks you off so much

Moral of the story: Learn to dodge or block attacks, and pay attention to where you’re running so you won’t run through the roaming pack of 100 hyenas.

Maybe ANet should just design a reward lever feature. Put it right next to a waypoint, in a town, so no mobs are present. Then players would not have to be so horribly inconvenienced by having to go somewhere and avoid mobs to get their well-deserved rewards. You’re running to events, you say? Well, then they should put WP’s adjacent to every possible event. Why hinder players from getting where they want to be right now!

In MMO’s, mobs are designed to be fought, not run past. The fact that players can and do run past them does not mean this is the intended behavior.

So you should train to better time your dodges and or mitigate their attacks other way or avoid their aggro at all. As stated before the problem is on your side. Train more or do it the “hard” way by killing hyenas. Also, condi cleanse.

Maybe there are some players who enjoy getting crippled every 1 or two minutes while running on the map. Maybe they’re even really into getting pushed back by randomly spawning teragriffs when they try to open chests. I personally don’t and I hope the majority doesn’t enjoy it neither.

Its one of the hazards of being in the zone.

Might as well remove all mobs from all zones, except champs and bosses, because a majority of time they can’t be bothered with. They should also remove the ogres from Fields of ruin, because the immob and knockdown is annoying when I’m trying to do the ogre wars event. Also remove the risen from Orr, especially annoying when trying to do the champ train.[/sarcasm]

Really? Remove a skill from a mob in a zone because “it’s annoying and interferes with my chest farm”? Yeah no. Dodge, kill them, cleanse, and move on. It’s not that big of a deal, unless of course you think that you are a special snowflake that needs to be catered to because of a slight annoyance… (not you OP specifically, just in general.)

Okay guys, you won. I see your point of view. If something annoys other players, but doesn’t really affect me, it should stay the way it is. That’s fine.

And I agree, I did exaggerate with that one. I don’t feel like I exaggerated with how pointless cripple on hyenas is though. You didn’t really convince me of the necessity of this mob having it. It doesn’t make much sense. Your arguments are “learn how to dodge”, which doesn’t make much sense neither.
But that’s fine too. I guess I will really have to change maps.

It’s really quite simple:

1) Mobs have attacks that affect you.
2) Mobs can be easily avoided.
3) Mob attacks can be dodged.
4) Mob attacks can be blocked.
5) Cripple, etc can be easily removed using a number of skills at your disposal.

Result: Yes, it can be annoying, but you have tools to deal with it. Do so.
