I Don't Like The Dragon Champion Fights.
I agree with you. kitten things are more punctual than a train schedule. They are fun the first time you fight them, mostly because they look Awesome. But after that, the fun quickly wears off.
I also hate the question “what’s the ETA on the dragon” in mapchat in those regions.
Tequila… i hope that was intentional. So far I found that the only one who puts up the slightest bit of a challenge is the Claw, (the 10000 mobs that he summons are a bit tedious though) the rest just stand rooted to the spot so that you can whack them leisurely like big pinatas.
actually i think that if you took a drake champion, scaled it up a few dozen times, gave it accordingly huge hp, dmg, faster move and attack speed.. now that would be a dragon worth fighting..

I envisioned dragon battles as being battles that move across the entire map. The Shatterer would literally attack south and move north, swooping around and breathing fire on players. Ever so often he’d land, stomp people and walk around before lifting up and flying off again. The final battle would be him landing, doing long tail swipes, causing big exploding gashes in the earth, and finally being driven off.
Maybe it’s too resource heavy. I don’t know. But having them show up at 6 pm to scream at me while I plink at them for ten minutes, to me, smacks of the developers being more concerned with just having him sit around long enough for new players to show up, rather than having a cool fight that literally will drag players from all around the map to a final battleground, where you will actually have to move around, dodge and avoid real attacks. Minions in boss battles have always been a pet peeve of mine. They’re a nuisance, especially when it’s you versus the big bad guy. You want to fight HIM, not deal with rock dogs doing knockdown lunge attacks on you over and over. It really diminishes the emotional impact of a fight when you realize you’re just fighting the same mobs you always fight, and the boss is just a health bar you slap at between waves.
they look pretty and all the chains leading up to them are fun, the additional stuff in the battles like the bone walls, lasers, corrupted ice barriers and what not are nice variations, but the enemy itself… they are soooo harmless in comparison with the rest of the monsterworld, you wonder why their throne isn´t claimed by the wolf veteran around the corner. The only dragon with even the slightest feeling of threat is Claw of Jormag mainly because that annyoing DoT ice breath. The rest of the map bosses are merely cardboard monsters that look threatening.
How dynamic when we have websites with countdown timers for them?
Stand and deliver.
Collect loot.
Careful about complaining. Cuz you know ANet, they won’t make it more fun, just nerf the drops.
I guess they’re supposed to be more of a cinematic experience. Just cool stuff to look at.
They are very cinematic but not Dynamic really- I also had this vision of dragons flying over the map and heroes rushing to the defense of a town or whatever.
I don’t know how do-able it is to make these events more dynamic in the sense of random spawn times and places, added movement and generally more mayhem caused by dragons.
It would be great though, it would be awesome.
The Op’s idea is great.

Well…I think the currently available dragon fights are a really good start. Don’t know how they would really make giant events including possibly over 100 people much harder. Without just making it very, very difficult. Probably resulting in much death and event failures. For casual PvE, this would make a lot of players upset.
Has the zhaitan fight gotten much harder since he was fixed?
I like them. They give way more and better loot than I got from killing Zhaitan.

They have a lot of potential. I hope they’ll be revisited by the devs later.
Personally I’d like to see them made more mobile in combat. Also, they should have a random flight path over the entire zone (or possibly the world) and a random timer on when they attack. You should see the shadow glide over you and never know if it’s about to land on your head or just continue flying over.
Sad day…
Its like no one bothers reading the suggestions area =/
